About Brigalisc:
Brigalisc is a land overflowing with nature's wealth - lush ecosystems, rare minerals, and raw materials found nowhere else. It is said that if something can exist, Brigalisc can grow it, mine it, or create it.
Because of this, the nation has never known true peace.
For centuries, foreign powers have cast their eyes upon Brigalisc. The oldest and most relentless of them all is Gordionis, whose conflict with Brigalisc dates back to 827 BCE, centered around the resource-rich Caldengo region. Their rivalry has since become legendary - part war, part tradition, part obsession.
Other nations once sought conquest as well. The Ven-Kel-Cath Commonwealth and Kelpiekirk both attempted to claim Brigalisc's riches. But over time, ambition gave way to pragmatism. War was costly - trade was not. One by one, they laid down their weapons and became partners instead.
Today, despite its tense relationships with Gordionis and Kelpiekirk, Brigalisc maintains stable and peaceful ties with most of the world. It is not only one of the most vibrant exporting nations - it is also among the largest importers. Curiously, Brigalisc prefers not to manufacture everyday goods, instead relying on nations like Kernevel to supply them.
At the heart of Brigalisc, in the central region of Klesna, stands one of its most breathtaking landmarks: the Mosaic Moon.
This massive spherical monument, inspired by the moon, is constructed from thousands upon thousands of fragments - each piece sourced from different regions, materials, and cultures.
No two fragments are the same.
Its surface is intentionally uneven, mimicking the craters of a real lunar body. Embedded within the structure are reflective materials that cause it to glow softly at night, as if it were a fallen celestial object resting on the earth. Visitors can walk around it and even step inside, where light dances across its interior like starlight scattered in motion. The Mosaic Moon stands as a symbol of unity - diversity shaped into something whole.
The 1200s marked a turning point in Brigalisc's history.
With the invention of synthesis engines, the impossible became routine. These machines could transform simple, cheap ingredients - even dirt - into rare and valuable materials through complex processes.
Production skyrocketed. Opportunity followed.
From this surge rose powerful clans - later known as Families - who built vast smuggling networks across the continent of Eldervale. Their goods were cheaper than official markets, making them irresistible. Some even extended their reach internationally, aided by connections in aerial transport units. But unlike typical criminal organizations, the Families were tolerated.
Even supported.
The authorities allowed their operations under one condition: maintain order. As long as civilians were not caught in their turf wars, the Families were free to operate. In fact, their influence quietly contributed to Brigalisc's rise as an economic powerhouse. Some crime bosses grew so powerful that they began stepping into politics, blurring the line between governance and organized crime.
Brigalisc is known across the world by a single title, "The Manufacture". Not because it produces ordinary goods - but because it creates what can't exist.
Using inexpensive base materials, Brigalisc's synthesis processes can generate rare substances, duplicate them multiple times, or even invent entirely new materials unknown to nature.
Some can only be found here. Some cannot be found anywhere else - because they were never natural to begin with. It is estimated that Brigalisc has produced over 50,000 unique materials… though many believe the true number is far higher.
Brief modern history:
THE MULTILATERAL ACCORD AND THE AGE OF PROSPERITY (1168)
In 1168, Brigalisc concluded a landmark multilateral agreement with Keldar, Hleidisland, Raginheim, and several other sovereign parties. The accord established a shared framework for technological advancement and mutual obligations for collaborative research. The agreement inaugurated a period of substantial material and institutional growth.
THE ERA OF CORRUPTION
Governmental figures exploited the resulting influx of resources for personal enrichment. Corruption became pervasive throughout the administrative apparatus. The government functioned primarily through systems of privilege exploitation and institutional abuse rather than legitimate process.
III. THE MONTEGGIO FILE AND THE COLLAPSE OF ORDER (1170–1171)
In 1170, an anonymous whistleblower released the Monteggio File - comprehensive documentation of corrupt transactions by senior political leadership.
Within one day, the state descended into civil disorder. Protests, riots, and violent confrontations erupted nationwide. Numerous officials were forcibly removed.
Stefan Brigne, Administrator of the Bureau of Financial Affairs, was found deceased in a public thoroughfare. Subsequently, Head of State Bastian Caneva was found poisoned in his office by unknown assailants.
The deaths precipitated a power vacuum. Multiple political assassinations and organised purges followed. The most notorious was the Severing, orchestrated by military commander Giovan Pico, who systematically eliminated more than one thousand individuals from the political and commercial sectors.
THE REIGN AND FALL OF GIOVAN PICO (1171–1172)
Giovan declared himself Head of State on 9 June 1171, two days after completing his purge. Near year's end, a secondary disclosure revealed Giovan as the principal architect of the majority of corrupt transactions documented in the Monteggio File.
Giovan suffered immediate popular backlash. Upon attempting to suppress opposition with force, he fell from the twenty-fifth floor of a building on 11 January 1172. His assassin was never identified.
THE YEAR OF ANARCHY (1172)
The state suffered under power vacuum conditions throughout 1172. Multiple factions contested authority; none achieved control. The seat of Head of State remained vacant. Populations administered themselves through local community structures.
THE RISE OF ELMYRA VALESHKA NORIN AND THE LPU (1173)
On 1 January 1173, Elmyra Valeshka Norin, leader of the Lumeva Progres Unia (LPU), seized governmental offices and declared herself Head of State. Surviving multiple assassination attempts, she conducted a systematic campaign against opposition forces.
Following four months of intensive political and paramilitary conflict, the state achieved a degree of stability. On 28 April 1173, Norin was formally recognised as Head of State, and the LPU was designated the ruling party.
VII. THE EXECUTION (1173–1176)
One week after recognition, Norin ordered the execution of all individuals named in the Monteggio File and subsequent corruption documentation. The programme - known as the Execution - extended from 5 May 1173 through June 1176.
The majority were executed by crushing machines - mechanical devices designed to compress victims to death. The estimated number executed was ten thousand.
VIII. GOVERNMENTAL REORGANISATION AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE DZL (1174–1183)
From 1174 to 1180, governmental departments were merged to reduce institutional complexity, producing a streamlined framework under centralised authority.
In 1183, the Direkta Zorven Lumea (DZL) was established to maintain internal political stability. The DZL operated a continuous programme of political surveillance and functioned as one of Eldervale's most capable intelligence agencies.
EARLY MILITARY CONFLICTS AND DIPLOMATIC EXPANSION (1190–1200)
1190: Brigalisc drawn into limited armed conflict against Kelpiekirk and Gordionis.
1194: Conflict continued against Rauvolgava, whose forces employed long-range projectile systems capable of launching attacks directly from their homeland into Brigalisc regions.
1200: Brigalisc established formal diplomatic relations with Cathair Ghormfhain.
THE SYNTHESIS ENGINE PROGRAMME AND THE GOLDEN ERA (1211–1264)
1211: Brigalisc initiated construction of synthesis engines - devices capable of generating materials with programmable properties. Initial prototypes were technologically limited.
1228: Second-generation prototype deployment dramatically improved goods production. Synthesised materials were exported to multiple nations.
1264: Brigalisc had successfully synthesised more than five thousand distinct material types. This inaugurated the Golden Era - unprecedented economic prosperity and extensive international commercial influence.
THE SOREVICH AFFAIRS (1237–c. 1240s)
1237: Head of State Valenko Dravimir Sorevich was compelled to resign following sustained civil unrest. Sorevich himself could identify no policy failures accounting for the hostility.
His successor, Karevian Moltarek Zorinov, was imprisoned within one year, having been found guilty of disseminating disinformation. Investigations established Zorinov had deliberately fabricated corruption allegations against Sorevich to facilitate his own ascension.
Sorevich was invited to resume leadership. He accepted with reluctance. After three years, he was again forced to resign - this time due to fabricated allegations of drug addiction. Sorevich permanently withdrew and pursued horticulture. Following exoneration, authorities invited him to return for a third time. He categorically declined.
XII. THE WAR AGAINST GORDIONIS AND KELPIEKIRK (1249–1250)
Total war against Gordionis commenced on 17 April 1249. Two weeks later, Kelpiekirk joined as a co-belligerent.
Battle of Novigrath (Gordionis) (29 Apr – 18 July 1249): Longest and largest combined ground-air engagement. Despite Brigalisc achieving victory, the entire operational front was devastated.
Battle of Ordelvyn (Gordionis) (8 June – 13 Aug 1249): First operational deployment of Brigalisc's comprehensive anti-air system - automated platforms capable of launching seven hundred rounds simultaneously.
By September 1249, Brigalisc had established clear superiority and advanced into enemy territory. The war concluded on 8 March 1250 with Brigalisc's victory. No permanent annexations; defeated nations compelled to provide material reparations including fluxwater, cryoGel, aetherfluid, ferroxium, and other exotic substances naturally harvestable within their territories.
XIII. DIPLOMATIC EXPANSION AND THE PRELUDE TO THE FIRST GREAT WAR (1271)
Throughout 1271, Brigalisc expanded diplomatic relations across Eastern and Western Eldervale, positioning itself as a neutral supplier and diplomatic intermediary. This trajectory was disrupted by escalating tensions preceding the First Great War.
XIV. THE FIRST GREAT WAR OF ELDERVALE (1272–1273)
Gordionis declared war on Brigalisc on 30 August 1272, seeking retribution for their 1249–1250 defeat. Rauvolgava joined as their ally. Brigalisc provided sustained material aid to Askalton.
The first five months were characterised by prolonged border engagements. Gordionis deployed aerial units with aether ornaments; Brigalisc deployed anti-air barrages, but Gordionis had developed countermeasures capable of deflecting or absorbing projectile impacts.
Battle of Verokel (Brigalisc) (7 Jan 1273): Critical deterioration. Enemy forces achieved overwhelming superiority through coordinated aerial assault and Rauvolgava's optically camouflaged infantry. Brigalisc forced into tactical withdrawal. By April, forces pushed back to the Orisyl region. High-altitude plateaus provided natural defence.
Battle of Kalindra (1273): Critical engagement centred on a substantial bridge. Recognising the bridge could not be held, Brigalisc ordered demolition. The ordnance failed to detonate. Enemy crossed and reached lower terrain on 31 July. The defensive line collapsed.
Following four months of continuous enemy advancement, Brigalisc accepted unconditional defeat on 18 November 1273. The settlement ceded all Eastern territories to Gordionis and Rauvolgava and imposed substantial material reparations.
THE DECEMBER COUP AND THE BRIGALISC CIVIL WAR (1273–1275)
The defeat generated civil unrest - strikes, demonstrations, armed uprisings - and stripped the LPU of legitimacy. On 10 December 1273, Zorveth Maldrik Vanuros executed the December Coup, terminating LPU governance.
Almost immediately, Velora Xanthei Moris launched a counter-coup. The attempt failed following armed confrontations, escalating into full civil war (15 December 1273). A third faction emerged under Kaelzoryth Veykros from defectors of both primary factions.
Battle of Apnune (from 8 Feb 1274): Approximately two months. All three factions contested control of the city housing one of the state's largest logistical hubs.
Battle of Orvenka (1274): Largest and most destructive engagement of the civil war. Chaotic three-way urban warfare with no clear front lines. Soldiers fragmented into small, isolated units. Combatants from all three factions operated simultaneously within the same urban sectors.
The Gordionis-Kelpiekirk Intervention (23 Dec 1274): Gordionis and Kelpiekirk declared war, seeking territorial absorption. The external threat compelled a reluctant united front. Cathair Ghormfhain-Keldar alliance and Cloud Garden deployed volunteer forces.
Battle of Vostrel (1274–1275): Catastrophic defeat for Gordionis forces, sparking uprisings throughout occupied Eastern territories. After three unsuccessful months, Gordionis and Kelpiekirk executed tactical withdrawal. The three factions resumed internecine conflict.
Battle of Savrello (1275): Three-way engagement marking the simultaneous downfall of Zorveth and Kaelzoryth regimes. Zorveth's administration collapsed on 13 May. Velora's forces retained substantial operational capacity.
Velora ordered final coordinated offensive - Expedition (20 June – 7 October 1275) - targeting both rivals simultaneously. Decisive success achieved when Velora forces captured Kaelzoryth's stronghold of Portofina after a thirty-day siege.
Brigalisc achieved peace. Velora declined the position of Head of State, citing serious health concerns.
XVI. THE ASCENSION OF MATTEO SILVIO ZARELLI (1275)
Matteo Silvio Zarelli - "the Godfather," criminal patriarch of La Rete Scarlatta - had covertly supported Velora throughout the civil war, providing weapons, medical supplies, logistics, and intelligence networks. On 18 October 1275, Zarelli was formally installed as Head of State - the unprecedented ascension of an organised criminal figure to legitimate governmental authority.
XVII. RECONSTRUCTION AND THE ZARELLI WELFARE STATE (1275–1278)
Under Zarelli, the devastated state underwent rapid reconstruction. Universal social welfare programmes were implemented: food rations ("Matteo's Kitchens"), universal healthcare, education at all levels, and subsidised housing. Programmes expanded following the official conclusion of recovery in 1278.
Zarelli simultaneously established clandestine contact with populations in occupied Eastern territories (from 1276), developing intelligence networks and organising insurgent forces for future operations.
XVIII. ECONOMIC REORIENTATION AND CRIMINAL CONSOLIDATION (1280s–1290)
1280s: Brigalisc declared fundamental economic reorientation - exclusive focus on raw materials and specialised synthesised substances; finished consumer goods imported primarily from Kerneville.
1285–1290: Zarelli systematically consolidated authority with other criminal families. Several inter-clan conflicts erupted. Zarelli's superior capability and willingness to employ decisive force subordinated the majority of rivals to La Rete Scarlatta's authority.
XIX. THE SECOND GREAT WAR OF ELDERVALE - BRIGALISC THEATRE (1291–1294)
Opening Offensives and the Reclamation of the East
Brigalisc declared war on Gordionis (28 February 1291), simultaneously activating pre-positioned insurgent forces throughout occupied Eastern territories.
A prolonged series of interconnected aerial engagements - the Bird Hunt - saw Brigalisc continuously deploy diverse synthesised materials into the atmosphere: dense smoke, corrosive compounds, electromagnetic interference. Constant variation prevented comprehensive countermeasures.
Battle of Rivalto (1291): First engagement coordinating national military forces with indigenous insurgent units. Decisive victory energised resistance movements throughout occupied territories.
The Invention of Invisible Stone (March 1291): A revolutionary aerosol deployment system. When launched skyward, the projectile detonated at predetermined altitude, dispersing concentrated carbon monoxide across extensive areas. The compound persisted for more than eight hours, rendering affected airspace unbreathable and neutralising Gordionis's aerial superiority.
The Eastern Campaign and the Rauvolgava Front (April–August 1291): Majority of Eastern sector recaptured through conventional operations, insurgent sabotage, and chemical area denial.
Rauvolgava declared war (28 August 1291), opening a second front. Brigalisc established fortified defensive lines. Continuous atmospheric chemical saturation reached critical levels - the sky exhibited constantly shifting coloration; coloured toxic mists blanketed the entire front. Rauvolgava's optically camouflaged infantry proved less effective: extensive bombardment had obliterated terrain features, and the absence of visual reference points made camouflaged soldiers easier to detect through movement and thermal signatures. Stalemate persisted until February 1292.
The Verkessan Trail and the Battles of Sector 700 (early 1292): Brigalisc captured the Verkessan Trail after nearly one hundred days, providing access to Sector 700 - the largest military installation in Western Gordionis. The planned assault failed due to overwhelming defensive reinforcements. Visibility was virtually nonexistent from chemical saturation.
Second Battle of Sector 700 (14 April – 27 May 1292): Brigalisc launched sustained synthesised material attacks. Numerous peripheral sections captured, but the main headquarters remained intact. Brigalisc acknowledged impossibility of capture without prohibitive casualties.
Territorial Gains and Stalemate (June–October 1292): Brigalisc captured Orzeth, Myrrhikos, and Tazkheron (Gordionis). Territorial changes minimal due to enemy reinforcement and environmental conditions.
Operation Zekh (10 Dec 1292 – 1 March 1293): Gordionis and Rauvolgava launched a massive coordinated counteroffensive. Achieved substantial initial success, restoring full control of Sector 700 and pushing Brigalisc back across multiple sectors. Combat under near-complete atmospheric obscurity. Friendly fire casualties reached unprecedented levels.
Siege of Zelqir (26 Feb 1293): Approximately 40,000 Brigalors encircled with no viable evacuation routes. Toxic atmospheric conditions paradoxically enabled escape: under absolute obscurity, small groups infiltrated through enemy lines, navigating by compass and coordinates. The majority extracted before detection. Operation Zekh concluded having failed to achieve complete territorial objectives.
The Three Great Campaigns (10 March 1293 – July 1294)
The Ashfall (12 March 1293 – 421 days): Five strategic locations: Brasken, Bronthos, Elionas River corridor, Zalmonis Valley. Continuous precipitation of particulate chemical residue - toxic multicoloured sediment coating terrain and personnel. Both coalitions committed unlimited reinforcements. Forests and urban centres reduced to crater fields. Elionas River became biologically dead. No decisive advantage.
The Dry Blood (389 days): Capture of Kylenis - largest urban centre in Western Gordionis. Structures stained rust-red from iron oxide compounds; the entire city appeared bathed in dried blood. Urban combat extraordinarily costly. Buildings became vertical battlefields. Chemical contamination penetrated sealed structures. The city changed hands seventeen times. When Brigalisc achieved permanent control (25 March 1294), Kylenis had been reduced to ruins.
The Deadlock (20 March 1293 – war's end): Sector 700 and Sector 600 - the two largest military installations in Western Gordionis. Epitome of attritional warfare. Neither coalition possessed advantage for decisive breakthrough. Perpetual combat with tens of thousands of casualties for negligible territorial adjustments. Specialised illumination technology developed; operators became priority targets. Both installations developed into fortress complexes with subterranean fortifications. Extensive psychological deterioration reported: hallucinations, auditory distortions, difficulty distinguishing direction. No clear victor.
Aid to Keldar and Pyrrhassa (1293): As governments of Keldar and Pyrrhassa collapsed, Brigalisc delivered aid and support.
The Pax of Seraphic (5 July 1294): Brigalisc ratified the treaty, formally concluding the Second Great War.
POST-WAR RECOVERY AND STRATEGIC VICTORY (1294–1298)
The conclusion was declared a strategic victory - affirmed by successful reclamation of Eastern territories ceded in 1273. By 1298, Brigalisc had substantially expanded international commercial relationships, with Kerneville emerging as principal commercial partner.
XXI. THE MATURATION OF THE SYNTHESIS PROGRAMME (1312–1359)
1312: Successfully catalogued more than twenty thousand distinct synthesised material types, including several rare materials previously considered irreproducible.
1352: More than forty thousand distinct material types.
1359: Exceeded fifty thousand material types.
XXII. THE WESTERN INDUSTRIAL POWERHOUSE (1320s onward)
Multiple designated production sectors developed into centres of mass material manufacturing. The largest individual factory complex spanned fifty square kilometres. The overwhelming majority concentrated in the Western region.
XXIII. DIPLOMATIC ENGAGEMENT WITH FORMER ADVERSARIES (1331)
Brigalisc initiated formal diplomatic engagement with Gordionis and Kelpiekirk. Nominal formal relations established; practical outcomes minimal.
XXIV. THE FABBRICA DISASTER (1336)
8 May 1336: The Fabbrica production facility - one of the largest synthesis complexes in the Western industrial region - was destroyed in a catastrophic industrial accident. Procedural failures during an active synthesis cycle caused cascading destabilisation within primary processing chambers. A sudden initial explosion triggered sequential failures, engulfing the entire facility in a chain detonation.
Atmospheric Contamination: The explosion released a vast mixture of hazardous compounds. A dense toxic aerosol spread across the Western region within hours, reached central territories within a day, and extended into neighbouring nations. Variations in composition created overlapping hazard zones.
Health Effects: Symptoms included respiratory failure, organ damage, chemical burns, and neurological impairment. Medical systems overwhelmed. Long-term chronic conditions persisted in exposed populations. Certain areas remained contaminated for extended periods.
Recovery and Regulatory Reform: Recovery operations lasted approximately eight months. Efforts included decontamination, infrastructure repair, agricultural recovery, and public health interventions. Major regulatory reforms implemented: stricter safety protocols, mandatory monitoring, enhanced governmental oversight. Some Western regions remained subject to long-term contamination, requiring ongoing monitoring and restricted access.
XXV. THE ADMINISTRATION OF TAVIN ARESTO LURENA AND THE PRELUDE TO THE THIRD GREAT WAR (1365 onward)
In 1365, Tavin Aresto Lurena was elected Head of State. Under Lurena's administration, the state continued material production expansion and sustained engagement with international trading partners. National development proceeded without significant interruption until the emergence of conditions that would precipitate the Third Great War of Eldervale.
Idealology: Ferric Accelerationism
Ferric Accelerationism is a political ideology that declares existence is validated only through output, with the ultimate goal of converting one hundred percent of inert geology into active, vibrating machinery - a state called Omnifacture, in which every atom within the national boundary is either inside a machine or part of a machine's supply chain. In this framework, only beings and systems that contribute to Gross Material Throughput possess political voice; nature is redefined as "unprocessed raw material stockpile," and preservation has no meaning except as an efficiency lag to be corrected. Human biology is treated as a temporary, leaky, and irrational bottleneck to total throughput acceleration, so full-body cybernetic conversion becomes a civic duty rather than a personal choice. Energy is the only true god, waste heat the only sin, and there is no minimum wage - only a Minimum Kilowatt Consumption, with citizens paid not for time but for Entropy Displacement. Upon biological failure, the corpse enters the National Reclamation Vat, where minerals are extracted for steel alloys and hydrocarbons are refined into industrial lubricant, so that a citizen's final act is to lubricate the gear train of the next generation. The natural surface is considered a failed prototype; the true surface of civilization is the Technosphere, an unbroken layer of material. Because the human body's need for sleep, emotional variance, and caloric inefficiency is the primary bottleneck, the state uses tax-incentivized replacement of biological organs with enduring alloy components. Citizens who replace more than fifty-one percent of their original body mass with industrial materials are exempt from labor laws regarding rest, granted Class-A Citizen status, and allowed to interface directly with factory mainframes.
