Chapter 309 - Chapter 309: An Old Relic from the Sengoku Period Still Alive Today

Chapter 309: An Old Relic from the Sengoku Period Still Alive Today

Amamiya Kenichi really wanted to rush down and have a proper ninja battle with those two freaks from Hidden Cloud Village, but after considering that it was their home turf, and given how much Hidden Cloud hated him, he felt that if he went down there, he would be greeted by a Tailed Beast Ball and the Eight Tails' jinchuriki.

Killer Bee, that perfect jinchuriki, was a real nuisance.

So, Amamiya Kenichi decisively used Wind Release: Great Breakthrough to fling himself out of Killer Bee's attack range as quickly as possible. Even so, several Tailed Beast Balls still exploded in midair.

Still, those blasts also sent him flying even farther, completely beyond Killer Bee's range. The troublesome part was that he had no idea where his teacher had been blown off to.

"This is really annoying... and this phone is actually malfunctioning too." Amamiya Kenichi frowned as he looked at the phone in his hand.

It was clearly having problems. He had just tried to contact Orochimaru, but there had been no response at all.

"Where am I?" Amamiya Kenichi muttered, looking around with a slight frown.

After being blasted away, he had landed in a dense forest. There were no signs of human activity nearby.

Still, he did not care too much. He had spare airships he could summon at any time. Right now, the priority was to find a way to head for Hidden Mist Village and discuss business. Hidden Cloud Village was clearly a lost cause, so Hidden Mist was now his only real option.

"I don't have any serious grudge against Hidden Mist. It should be manageable," Amamiya Kenichi said as he stroked his chin.

Although he had caused trouble in Hidden Mist before, he had never revealed his true identity. Besides, that old man Gengetsu Hōzuki was no fool.

There was no way he would fail to see the value of an airship.

And compared to the other countries, Hidden Mist Village, or rather the Land of Water, had an even greater need for something like this.

After all, airships could make the sea far less dangerous. Transporting goods, deploying troops, moving supplies, all of it could be done through the air. So Amamiya Kenichi felt that as long as Gengetsu Hōzuki was not brain damaged, he would definitely be willing to buy one.

Just as Amamiya Kenichi was about to leave, he suddenly felt something under his foot.

"Hmm? What's this?" He paused and looked down.

There was a stone-like object beneath him. That was what he had stepped on.

At first, he paid it no mind. It was just a rock.

But then he noticed something off.

"This looks like some kind of seal?" Amamiya Kenichi stopped moving. He crouched down and used a kunai to scrape away the dirt around it, exposing the object beneath.

It was a neatly cut stone block engraved with strange patterns, and faint chakra fluctuations seeped from it. At that point, he was certain he had stepped on something like a sealing stone.

That immediately piqued his curiosity.

In the ninja world, seals were generally used to lock away dangerous things, or things that could not be dealt with immediately. The usual approach was to seal them first and figure out how to handle them later.

For example, his teacher's hands had once been sealed away by Hiruzen. The Tailed Beasts were also sealed into jinchuriki. So generally speaking, seals tended to contain something strange.

"It looks ancient. Very weathered too," Amamiya Kenichi murmured as he brushed the dirt off the stone.

By now, he had completely dug it out, and it was indeed a sealing stone.

The patterns carved into it were old and crude. Amamiya Kenichi had seen something similar before in Konoha's book, Sealing Arts: Historical Development, Evolution, and Future Prospects.

"This kind of old style seal... could it really be from the Sengoku period?" Amamiya Kenichi studied the stone with growing interest.

Sealing arts had never remained static. Just like any field of study, they had evolved over time. Early sealing arts emphasized simplicity and practicality.

As time passed, sealing techniques became more refined and complex, producing things like the Four Symbols Seal, the Adamantine Sealing Chains, and many others. But the seal before him had an unmistakably primitive feel.

That was why Amamiya Kenichi suspected it came from the Sengoku era. Similar seals had been mentioned in old texts, and once the era of ninja villages began, sealing techniques had rapidly become more systematic.

"So what exactly is sealed in here?" Amamiya Kenichi pressed a hand against the stone.

He did not even know where he had landed exactly, though it was probably still somewhere within the Land of Lightning.

His interest deepened. Lightning crackled faintly at the corners of his eyes as he began trying a sealing release technique. The effect was poor, and a surge of chakra rebounded through his hand.

"This cold feeling..." Amamiya Kenichi frowned slightly.

The chakra nature inside the seal felt oddly familiar, but he could not place where he had sensed it before.

Still, he now had a rough idea of how to undo it. After all these years of erosion, the seal itself was already unstable.

"I remember there was something similar in one of the books my teacher gave me..." Amamiya Kenichi quietly pulled a book from his pocket.

It was a compiled volume of seal release techniques Orochimaru had once taught him.

This was not because Amamiya Kenichi lacked skill. The issue was simply that ancient sealing arts like this were not widely understood unless someone had specifically studied them. Even finding the right method to break them was troublesome.

He could force it open through brute force, of course. But if something dangerous was sealed inside, that would only create another problem.

"Let me see... circulate chakra this way, then..." Amamiya Kenichi quickly found a similar solution.

As he adjusted the chakra accordingly, the seal on the stone rapidly unraveled. The block itself made a cracking sound, and then a visible fracture appeared across it.

Amamiya Kenichi instinctively stepped back to the side. After confirming there was no immediate danger, he slowly shifted the stone aside.

And what came into view was a girl.

A black-haired girl, completely unclothed.

Amamiya Kenichi frowned as he looked at the girl with her eyes closed. She was breathing, though so faintly that if he had not been in Sage Mode, with heightened senses, he might not have noticed it at all.

At first glance, he would have thought she was dead.

"She's really beautiful..." Amamiya Kenichi murmured.

He carefully lifted the girl up, then pulled a set of clothes from one of his sealing scrolls and dressed her.

He did not have any women's clothing with him, so he could only put her in one of his own spare outfits. Fortunately, it was clean and unworn.

As for any inappropriate thoughts...

The fact that she was an ancient relic from the Sengoku period interested him far more than anything else. He was much more curious about her identity and that bizarre seal.

That strange sealing art had preserved someone from the Sengoku era all the way until now, and her age did not seem to have changed much at all. That alone was astonishing.

"Luckily my memory is good, and the Sharingan is useful too. I still remember what the seal looked like." Amamiya Kenichi licked his lips slightly.

He pulled out paper and a pen, then carefully sketched the complex seal from memory, intending to study it later.

For now, the important thing was the girl.

Although he was not in a laboratory, he could still perform some basic checks. He quickly confirmed that her physical age did not appear very advanced, though her body was covered in dirt from having been sealed for so long.

The biggest issue was her breathing. It was extremely slow. After a quick estimate, Amamiya Kenichi realized she was taking only one breath every ten minutes.

That rate, however, was gradually increasing. It looked like she was about to wake up.

So Amamiya Kenichi simply sat there and waited.

As for Hidden Mist Village and the business deal?

Please. Was business really more interesting than studying a precious experimental subject from the Sengoku period?

Absolutely not.

After a while, her breathing gradually returned to normal. Her eyelids twitched, and then she slowly opened her eyes, looking around in confusion.

"You're awake?" Amamiya Kenichi asked softly.

"I..." The girl suddenly recoiled to the side in terror, staring at him, then down at the clothes on her body with fear in her eyes.

"Sharingan? Uchiha?" Amamiya Kenichi's eyes widened slightly.

He had seen it. The pattern in her eyes was unmistakable.

This girl sealed away inside the stone was actually an Uchiha.

And not just any Uchiha. She had awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan.

Mangekyo?

Amamiya Kenichi looked at her in genuine shock.

She definitely did not seem very old, yet she had awakened the Mangekyo at such an age. In terms of talent, perhaps only Shisui and Itachi could compare to her.

"Don't be nervous. I mean you no harm. I was the one who released you from the seal," Amamiya Kenichi said with a gentle smile.

He was far too curious. He desperately wanted to know what kind of ability lay in those eyes, and more importantly, why she had been sealed away in the first place.

Perhaps it was because of his strange clothes, or perhaps because he had remained seated and made no threatening move, but the girl gradually calmed down a little. She touched the clothes on her body, looked around at the forest, then looked back at Amamiya Kenichi.

There was still wariness in her eyes, like a wounded fawn.

"...Who are you?" she asked cautiously.

Amamiya Kenichi had no doubt that if he made even the slightest suspicious move, she would flee at once.

"I'm Amamiya Kenichi, a wandering ninja," Amamiya Kenichi replied with a warm smile.

To make himself seem even less threatening, he even activated his Sharingan.

But in the very next second, the moment the girl saw his eyes, she let out a sharp scream and bolted.

At the same time, a Sharingan genjutsu struck Amamiya Kenichi. He dispelled it quickly, but the brief delay was enough for her to put some distance between them.

What the hell?

Amamiya Kenichi was momentarily bewildered.

He immediately gave chase. Fortunately, she did not get far. It seemed that after being sealed for so long, her muscles had atrophied to some extent. She stumbled and fell before she could get away, then began crying in despair.

Amamiya Kenichi scratched his head.

Why did this feel like he was suddenly the villain here?

"Don't hit me! I won't run anymore... I won't run anymore..." The girl sensed him approaching and let out another shrill scream, trembling violently.

Amamiya Kenichi remained silent for a moment.

It seemed this girl's past had not been kind to her. Which only made him wonder even more. If that was the case, then why had she been sealed away?

Originally, Amamiya Kenichi had assumed she must have possessed some terrifying power to warrant such a seal. That had fit neatly with his earlier speculation.

But now, she looked more like someone who had simply suffered too much.

He reached out and gently stroked her head.

"My name is Amamiya Kenichi. What about you?" he asked softly, trying to reassure her.

Under his careful touch, the girl gradually stopped shaking so hard. She looked up at him fearfully, then lowered her head and answered in a small voice.

"I don't have a name."

"Nameless?" Amamiya Kenichi raised a brow.

How could that be? She was clearly an Uchiha. There was no way she truly had no name.

So either she was unwilling to say it, or there was some other reason.

Still, her emotions were too unstable right now. Continuing to push the issue would only make things worse. So Amamiya Kenichi decided to let her calm down first. Since she was alive, he could simply bring her onto the airship and leave.

"Don't be afraid. I'll get you out of here first. You should take a bath too," Amamiya Kenichi said with a smile as he cleared away the trees around them.

Then, before the girl's stunned gaze, he clapped his hands and summoned an airship.

Looking at the timid girl behind him, Amamiya Kenichi smiled and extended a hand.

"...It's a new era now. Clans don't fight each other like they used to. The Uchiha and the Senju joined forces and founded a ninja village called Konoha. After that, the era of the Five Great Villages began."

As he piloted the airship into the sky, Amamiya Kenichi casually explained things to the girl sitting behind him.

In truth, it was mostly him talking and her listening.

"A village... they built a village?" the girl asked, looking around timidly.

Everything here was strange to her. Even the thing they were riding on could fly.

But what confused her most was the part about the Uchiha and Senju allying.

Weren't the Senju their mortal enemies?

Her mother and father had always said...

Mother and father...

Wait.

I'm not nameless.

I do have a name. It was the name Mother and Father gave me.

My name is...

"I... I'm Uchiha Hikari!" the girl suddenly said as she lifted her head.

At last, she had remembered her name.
