Dark: And drag the truth back up.
The drowned Heaven answered by trying to bury him.
Every white pillar inside Rakuten Oryndel split open at once.
The prayers carved across them peeled away from the stone and filled the black sky in countless pale lines. Some had been written by children. Some by protectors. Some by gods who had promised they would never abandon the World beneath them. Their words crossed over one another until the entire Domain became crowded with vows that had already failed.
Then every prayer turned downward.
Dark looked up.
The first one struck.
Kyuketsu moved once.
The prayer separated through its center.
There was no explosion. No golden barrier formed around Dark. No forcefield denied the attack before it reached him. The black katana simply crossed the pale sentence, and whatever authority had allowed the prayer to become judgment disappeared from both halves.
The broken words fell into the water.
They did not return.
Far ahead, the Drowning Seat groaned.
Orvane's pale eyes narrowed.
Orvane: Thou hast withdrawn thy shield.
Dark lowered Kyuketsu beside him.
Black water continued rising around his knees. The pressure of Rakuten Oryndel rested across his shoulders, forcing every piece of his cloak downward. The Domain wanted height to become guilt. It wanted standing to become arrogance. It wanted every step forward to feel like something stolen from those already buried beneath him.
Dark walked anyway.
Dark: I do not need it.
The answer reached Orvane without anger.
That made it worse.
The broken halo nailed through Orvane's skull brightened. Pale veins spread from the metal into his forehead and disappeared beneath his skin. Behind the Drowning Seat, the remains of Oryndel stretched farther than they had before. Drowned gardens unfolded beneath black water. Towers rose upside down from the sky. Golden bridges connected sanctuaries that no longer had doors. Across the highest ruins, distant figures stood frozen in prayer, their bodies made from light that had died without learning how to disappear.
Orvane lifted one hand.
The chains inside his wrist tightened.
Skin tore around drowned gold.
Orvane: All things beneath Heaven once believed themselves beyond descent.
The black water around Dark became still.
Orvane: Kings believed their names would hold them.
A crown formed above Dark.
It was not his.
It was made from the remains of dead rulers. Broken metal. Crushed jewels. Pieces of bone carved with titles nobody remembered. Thousands of voices whispered inside it, each one repeating a different claim to eternity.
The crown dropped.
Dark raised Kyuketsu.
The blade touched its lowest point.
The entire crown vanished.
Not shattered.
Not pushed away.
Erased.
The voices stopped in the middle of their names.
Dark kept walking.
Orvane watched the empty space where the attack had been.
Orvane: Gods believed worship would hold them.
The upside-down sky opened.
A colossal hand descended from beyond it.
Its skin was formed from cathedral walls. Stained glass covered its fingers. Dead angels hung between its joints with chains driven through their wings. In the center of its palm rested a closed golden eye large enough to cover the ruined plain beneath Dark.
The eye opened.
Light struck everything.
Black rivers became white.
The drowned gardens burned.
Every small demon, angel, elf, and fae hiding beyond the Domain dropped against the ground and covered its face. The light did not burn flesh. It exposed worth. Every failure became visible. Every abandoned promise. Every person someone could not save. Every moment strength had arrived too late.
The light reached Dark.
He did not stop walking.
Images moved across his body.
People he had failed.
Lives he had watched disappear.
The Empire damaged because enemies wanted him.
Friends bleeding while he stood somewhere else.
People calling him Emperor while he wondered whether the title had become another excuse for the world to place its suffering in his hands.
The light pressed harder.
Dark's pace slowed.
Orvane leaned forward.
Orvane: There.
Dark looked toward him.
Orvane: The weight beneath thy name.
The great hand lowered.
Dark continued walking.
Orvane: How many kneel because thou savedst them?
The hand came closer.
Orvane: How many remain because they fear the world beyond thy walls?
Kyuketsu turned once inside Dark's hand.
Orvane: How many call thee Emperor because gratitude became chain?
Dark disappeared.
The great hand struck the black water.
Rakuten Oryndel folded beneath the impact.
Entire drowned sanctuaries collapsed. Golden bridges snapped. The dead angels chained between the fingers screamed as the palm buried itself through the memory of Heaven. A wave rose high enough to cover the white pillars and swallowed miles of ruined gardens.
Orvane's eyes moved.
Dark stood before the Drowning Seat.
No portal had opened.
No shadow-road remained behind him.
No golden field protected him.
He was simply there.
Kyuketsu rested beside Orvane's throat.
The edge did not touch him.
It did not need to.
The Drowning Seat reacted before Orvane did.
Thousands of chains erupted from beneath it. They came for Dark's arms, legs, throat, shadow, weapon, and the empty place above his head. Broken halos opened across the sky. Drowned protectors rose from the water. Every white pillar turned toward him.
Dark moved Kyuketsu.
One cut.
The chains fell.
A second.
The halos closed.
A third.
Every drowned protector stopped before taking its first step.
Dark turned the blade and placed its edge beneath the broken halo driven through Orvane's skull.
The Underworld became silent.
Orvane did not breathe.
Dark's eyes moved across the Drowning Seat.
He saw the chains entering Orvane's wrists.
The drowned gold fused through his ribs.
The old divinity wrapped around his spine.
The hollow place in his chest where the Seat continued feeding.
He saw every point holding Orvane inside it.
Dark could cut them.
Orvane understood that.
For the first time since Dark had entered the Underworld, rage left Orvane's face.
Only for a moment.
Something quieter stood beneath it.
Fear.
Not fear of death.
Fear of losing the last thing he could still call his.
Orvane: Do it.
Dark did not move.
Orvane's fingers tightened against the arms of the Seat.
Orvane: Thou camest for this.
Dark: No.
Orvane: Then why standest thou there?
Dark looked at the broken halo inside Orvane's skull.
Dark: Because you would not listen from far away.
Orvane stared at him.
Dark lowered Kyuketsu.
The blade left the halo untouched.
Orvane's expression changed.
Orvane: Pity.
Dark: No.
Orvane: Mercy.
Dark: No.
Dark stepped back from the Drowning Seat.
Dark: Choice.
The word entered Rakuten Oryndel.
The Domain rejected it.
Every staircase twisted downward. Every bridge collapsed. Every prayer in the sky screamed at once. The black water rose into walls around the Seat, and the dead Heaven tightened as if the idea itself had entered somewhere it was forbidden to exist.
Orvane's eyes hardened.
Orvane: Choice?
Dark: You keep calling this place yours.
Orvane: It is.
Dark: Then leave it.
The Drowning Seat screamed.
Not Orvane.
The Seat.
Its chains drove deeper into his wrists. Drowned gold tightened around his ribs. The broken halo inside his skull flashed, and pale blood ran from his nose.
Orvane's face twisted.
Orvane: Thou mockest me.
Dark: No.
Orvane: Thou standest before a prisoner and commandest him to walk.
Dark: I did not command you.
Dark looked directly into his eyes.
Dark: I said choose.
The black water shook.
Orvane laughed.
It was low at first.
Then louder.
Broken.
Angry.
Orvane: Choice.
His chained hands trembled.
Orvane: The word of those who still possess roads.
The Domain darkened.
Orvane: Where was choice when Oryndel screamed?
The white pillars cracked.
Orvane: Where was choice when the gods closed their gates?
The upside-down gardens tore apart.
Orvane: Where was choice when protectors fed their bodies to a Heaven already dead?
His voice rose.
Orvane: Where was choice when Sukojo entered my sky?
The name struck the Domain harder than any weapon.
The blue-black Heaven above them opened through its center.
Something enormous moved behind it.
Not Sukojo himself.
A memory.
A shape too large for the surviving pieces of Oryndel to hold correctly. A smile existed where no face had formed. Countless eyes opened across the dark. Worlds bent around teeth that had not yet bitten them.
The slaves outside the Domain screamed.
Orvane pulled against his chains.
Orvane: He laughed.
Dark remained still.
Orvane: Our gods descended.
The memory above them moved.
Orvane: He laughed.
Broken figures appeared across the drowned Heaven. Protectors in ruined armor. Angels with burning wings. Children being carried through collapsing sanctuaries. Divine armies filling the sky.
Orvane: We opened every gate.
The memory smiled wider.
Orvane: He laughed.
Dark watched Oryndel die around him.
Not as a story.
As Orvane remembered it.
The first god reached the darkness.
Something closed.
The god disappeared.
No battle.
No final words.
One moment, Heaven had a defender.
The next, it had an absence.
Then the sky began eating itself.
Golden towers bent toward the darkness. Angels attacked their own wings. Sacred rivers climbed into temples and drowned people who had prayed beside them. Protectors turned their weapons against their own shadows. The laws meant to defend Oryndel became mouths.
At the center of it all stood Orvane.
Younger.
Unchained.
A halo whole above his head.
Light covering his body.
His hands stretched toward people he could not reach quickly enough.
Orvane: I chose them.
The present Orvane's voice became quieter.
Orvane: Every time.
Dark looked at the memory.
Orvane: I chose the children before the gates.
A sanctuary collapsed.
Orvane: I chose the wounded before the throne.
The younger Orvane carried three broken protectors while Heaven burned behind him.
Orvane: I chose duty before ascension.
His halo cracked.
Orvane: I chose them.
The memory changed.
Orvane stood alone.
The gods were gone.
The protectors were dead.
The children had stopped screaming.
The sky had become black.
Orvane: And choice buried me with everything I loved.
The memory disappeared.
Rakuten Oryndel returned.
Dark stood before the Drowning Seat.
Orvane's head hung beneath the broken halo.
Dark said nothing.
For several seconds, neither of them moved.
Then Dark placed Kyuketsu against the ground.
Not dropped.
Placed.
The blade remained standing beside him.
Orvane slowly lifted his eyes.
Dark stepped forward without a weapon.
Orvane: What art thou doing?
Dark stopped within reach of the chains.
Dark: Listening.
Orvane's face tightened.
Dark: You chose everyone until there was nobody left to choose you.
The black water became still.
Orvane stared at him.
Dark: Then you woke here.
Dark looked at the Drowning Seat.
Dark: And decided being owned was better than being abandoned.
The Seat pulsed.
Orvane's fingers curled.
Dark: So you called the prison yours.
Orvane: Silence.
Dark: You called the slaves yours.
Orvane: Silence.
Dark: You called the dead yours.
The chains shook.
Orvane: Silence.
Dark: Because if they belonged to you, then they did not leave.
The Drowning Seat erupted.
Chains tore from the ground.
The black water rose.
Rakuten Oryndel screamed through every broken pillar.
Orvane pulled one hand free.
Drowned gold ripped through his wrist. Flesh tore open. Bone cracked. Pale blood sprayed across the Seat.
He struck Dark.
The fist hit Dark's face.
The impact split the drowned Heaven behind him.
Dark's head turned.
He did not move otherwise.
Orvane breathed hard.
Dark slowly looked back at him.
Orvane's freed hand trembled between them.
Dark did not attack.
Orvane hit him again.
The second strike broke the nearest white pillars.
Dark remained standing.
Orvane: Fight me.
Dark wiped blood from the corner of his mouth.
Dark: I was.
Orvane's eyes widened.
Orvane's freed hand remained raised between them, trembling from the damage he had caused himself just to strike Dark twice.
Dark did not step back.
The black water beneath them rolled outward from the force of Orvane's blows, carrying broken pieces of white pillars, ruined prayer-metal, and fragments of old halo-light across Rakuten Oryndel. The Domain had split behind Dark where the punches landed, yet Dark himself stood in the same place, his head slightly turned from the second strike and a thin line of blood at the corner of his mouth.
He wiped it away with his thumb.
Dark: You lost.
Orvane's face twisted.
Dark: Now I am talking to you.
The answer did not calm him.
It tore whatever remained of his restraint apart.
Orvane pulled his arm back. The Drowning Seat resisted immediately, tightening the drowned gold still buried through his wrist and forearm, but Orvane forced the motion anyway. Flesh tore wider. Bone shifted beneath the wound. Pale blood poured down his hand as broken divinity gathered around his knuckles.
The punch came faster than the first two.
Dark raised his forearm and blocked it.
The impact spread across Rakuten Oryndel in a violent ring. The black water flattened for miles. Upside-down gardens ripped from the drowned sky. Golden bridges folded against one another and burst into fragments. The force drove through Dark's cloak and cape, but his body barely shifted.
Orvane attacked again.
Dark caught the second fist in his palm.
Broken divinity burst between their hands, pale light and black water exploding outward, but Dark's fingers closed around Orvane's knuckles before the strike could reach his face. The saint pulled back. Dark did not release him.
Orvane: Let go.
Dark looked at the hand he held.
The skin was torn open around the wrist. Drowned gold remained fused beneath the flesh. Thin black chains moved inside the wound like veins that did not belong to Orvane.
Dark: You did this to yourself just to hit me.
Orvane: LET GO!
Orvane swung his other arm.
The chains binding it stretched tight, preventing the fist from reaching fully, so Orvane turned the failed punch into an eruption of power. A broken halo formed behind Dark's head and snapped closed like a blade meant to remove everything above his shoulders.
Dark released Orvane's hand and turned.
Kyuketsu left the ground behind him.
The katana crossed the space without Dark reaching for it. Black material carried the weapon into his palm, and the blade met the closing halo with a clean upward cut.
The halo disappeared.
Orvane's remaining hand opened.
Hundreds of drowned spears formed across the Domain.
They fired together.
Dark stepped around the first spear and struck the second aside with the flat of Kyuketsu. He turned his wrist and cut through five more without slowing. A spear came from beneath the water, angled toward his ribs. Dark drove the tip of Kyuketsu downward and split it before it surfaced. Three attacked from behind. Black material rose from the shadow under his cape, forming three thin blades that intercepted each one and erased them on contact.
Orvane kept firing.
The attacks came faster.
Broken halo arrows crossed with chains. Black-water serpents twisted between falling verdict beams. White pillars broke apart and sharpened into enormous stakes. The upside-down gardens opened and released swarms of pale insects carrying pieces of failed prayer inside their bodies.
Dark walked through everything.
He parried a chain away from his throat.
He blocked a verdict beam with Kyuketsu and turned the blade, throwing the attack back into the dead sky where it cut through an inverted sanctuary.
He caught a black-water serpent by the jaw, forced its mouth closed, and erased its head with black material before throwing the remains into two incoming pillars.
He cut once through the swarm.
The insects vanished with the prayer sustaining them.
Orvane watched Dark advance through the full violence of Rakuten Oryndel without Linguard Korosu, without retreating, and without attacking the Drowning Seat.
Every opening was there.
Dark could have cut Orvane's throat when he caught his fist.
He could have severed the free arm at the shoulder.
He could have driven Kyuketsu through the hollow in Orvane's chest.
He could have struck the broken halo through his skull.
He did none of it.
That restraint did not resemble weakness anymore.
Orvane could no longer force himself to believe that.
Orvane: Why?
Dark deflected another spear.
Dark: I already told you.
Orvane: Thou hast told me nothing.
Dark cut a verdict beam in half and continued toward him.
Dark: I am trying to give you a choice.
Orvane: Choice cannot exist beneath another man's blade.
Dark stopped.
Kyuketsu lowered beside him.
The remaining attacks continued.
A chain came for his neck. Dark tilted aside and caught it under the guard of the katana, then snapped the chain with a short pull.
A halo blade descended toward his skull. Dark lifted two fingers and erased its edge before it touched him.
A black river rose behind him in the shape of a vast wing. Dark turned his shoulder and struck the center with the back of his fist. The entire wing collapsed into ordinary water.
He looked at Orvane.
Dark: Then look at the blade.
Orvane's pale eyes narrowed.
Dark raised Kyuketsu.
The tip pointed toward Orvane's throat.
Orvane's body tightened.
Dark moved.
For one instant, Orvane saw nothing.
Then Dark stood beside the Drowning Seat.
Kyuketsu rested against the chain buried through Orvane's spine.
Orvane froze.
Dark: This one keeps your lower body fused to the Seat.
The blade moved to a drowned-gold connection beneath Orvane's ribs.
Dark: This one feeds your power back into the prison.
The tip shifted toward the broken halo nailed through the rear of Orvane's skull.
Dark: This one keeps Rakuten Oryndel tied to your pain.
Kyuketsu lowered toward the hollow in Orvane's chest.
Dark: And this is where the Seat would die if I cut deeply enough.
Orvane's breathing became uneven.
Dark moved the blade to Orvane's throat.
Dark: You would die faster.
The Domain went silent around them.
No water moved.
No pillar fell.
No broken prayer whispered from the sky.
Dark lowered Kyuketsu.
Dark: I have been choosing not to do any of it.
Orvane stared at him.
Dark stepped away from the Seat again.
Orvane: Thou expects gratitude.
Dark: No.
Orvane: Obedience.
Dark: No.
Orvane: Worship.
Dark's expression hardened.
Dark: I do not want worship.
The answer came too quickly for Orvane to call it performance.
Dark: I want you to stop confusing everyone who reaches for you with the thing that dragged you down.
Orvane's eyes sharpened.
Orvane: Thou knows nothing of what dragged me down.
Dark: I know Sukojo destroyed your World.
The black water stirred.
Dark: I know your gods failed.
A white pillar cracked.
Dark: I know your protectors died.
The ruined gardens trembled above them.
Dark: I know you kept choosing everyone else until there was nobody left to choose you.
Orvane's freed hand curled into a fist again.
Dark: And I know you have spent millions of years calling this prison yours because admitting it owns you would mean admitting you lost everything.
Orvane attacked.
Not with the Domain.
With himself.
He tore his second arm free from the Drowning Seat.
The chains ripped through both wrists. Drowned gold burst from the wounds. His shoulders dislocated under the force, then snapped back into place through broken divinity. Orvane lunged from the throne as far as the remaining restraints would allow and drove both fists toward Dark's chest.
Dark crossed his forearms and blocked.
The strike destroyed the floor beneath them.
Rakuten Oryndel split open from the Drowning Seat to the farthest visible bridge. Black water dropped into the wound. Towers collapsed into it. The dead sky shook as if the entire Domain might turn upside down again.
Dark remained in front of Orvane.
He uncrossed his arms.
Orvane struck left.
Dark parried the fist outward.
Orvane struck right.
Dark blocked with his palm.
Orvane drove his forehead forward.
Dark caught him by the face.
The saint's head stopped in Dark's hand.
Orvane's eyes burned with rage through the gaps between Dark's fingers.
Dark: Enough.
Orvane tried to pull away.
Dark held him still.
Dark: You are not fighting me anymore.
Orvane: I shall decide that.
Dark: No.
Dark released his face and stepped aside as Orvane threw another punch. The fist passed through empty space. Dark struck Orvane once in the center of the chest with two fingers.
The hit looked small.
The effect was not.
Every chain connected to the Drowning Seat snapped tight at once. Orvane's body lifted from the throne and stopped at the limit of the restraints. Broken divinity burst from his back. The hollow in his chest opened wider. Blood and black water poured from his mouth as the force traveled through him without destroying his body.
Dark had not struck to kill.
He had struck to show control.
Orvane hung there for one breath.
Then the chains pulled him back into the Seat.
The impact cracked the throne behind him.
Dark stood several feet away, Kyuketsu lowered.
His torn clothing shifted in the pressure of Rakuten Oryndel. Black material moved over the damaged fabric, but it did not become armor. It refined what remained.
The old cloak rebuilt first.
Black feathers spread across Dark's shoulders, deeper and cleaner than before, arranged into a long, elegant mantle that rested over his back. Beneath it, the torn clothing reshaped into fitted black fabric lined with restrained silver detail around the collar, wrists, and waist. A long cape settled behind him, heavy enough to hold its shape against the Domain's pull, its edge hovering over the black water. His hood remained down, leaving his face and black hair fully visible.
Nothing about the new appearance protected him.
It did not need to.
It made him look less like a survivor dragged into the Underworld and more like the Emperor who had decided how long the Underworld was allowed to keep him.
Orvane looked at him differently.
Not with trust.
Not yet.
But the shape Dark occupied in his mind changed.
For millions of years, every intruder had entered the Underworld wanting something. Power. Relics. Divinity. The Drowning Seat. Orvane's Domain. His knowledge. His death. His submission.
Dark had reached every one of those things.
And touched none of them.
Orvane's breathing slowed.
Dark saw it.
He did not press.
He waited.
The silence between them lasted longer than any exchange of attacks had.
Orvane: What art thou?
Dark: Dark.
Orvane's expression tightened.
Orvane: Names are often disguises.
Dark: Mine is not.
Orvane looked beyond him, toward the ruined pieces of Rakuten Oryndel scattered across the black water.
Orvane: Sukojo came without disguise.
Dark said nothing.
Orvane: He did not promise rescue. He did not speak of peace. He came as hunger and made no apology for it.
Dark: I know.
Orvane's gaze returned to him.
Orvane: Thou art more difficult.
Dark: Because I am not here to eat your World.
Orvane: Thou builds Empires.
Dark: Yes.
Orvane: Thou gathers power.
Dark: Yes.
Orvane: Thou gathers people.
Dark: Yes.
Orvane: And yet thou asks me to believe thy hand closes around others without becoming a chain.
Dark held his gaze.
Dark: No.
Orvane's brow lowered.
Dark: I am asking you to watch what I do after my hand closes.
The answer remained between them.
Dark gestured toward the slaves beyond the broken boundary of the Domain, where tiny angels, demons, elves, and fae still hid among the ruins.
Dark: I protected them.
Orvane: So they would stand behind thee.
Dark: They stood behind me because you tried to kill them with your anger.
Orvane said nothing.
Dark: I could force them to follow me.
He looked back at Orvane.
Dark: I will not.
Orvane: And me?
Dark's eyes stayed steady.
Dark: I could force you too.
The truth of it moved through Rakuten Oryndel.
Orvane felt the broken chains.
The erased attacks.
The blade that had rested against every fatal point in his body.
Dark: I will not.
Orvane's pale eyes lowered.
The Drowning Seat pulsed beneath him.
Its response was immediate.
The chains tightened around Orvane's spine and ribs, sensing the hesitation growing inside him. The broken halo flared and drove another surge of pain through his skull. His body arched against the throne, but this time he did not direct the pain at Dark.
He looked down.
At the Seat.
For the first time, he looked at it without calling it his.
Orvane: If I leave it...
His voice came quieter than before.
Dark waited.
Orvane: What remains?
Dark looked at the ruined saint fused to a dead Heaven.
Dark: You.
Orvane's face twisted with something that was not anger.
Orvane: That is not enough.
Dark: It was enough when there was nobody else.
Orvane lifted his eyes.
Dark: It can be enough now.
The Drowning Seat screamed.
Every remaining chain inside Rakuten Oryndel tore upward.
Orvane did not command them.
The prison did.
Then...
The chains rose from the black water in every direction.
They did not aim for Dark.
They wrapped around the Drowning Seat.
One chain locked around the broken halo behind Orvane's skull. Another coiled through the drowned gold inside his ribs. More tightened around the throne's arms, spine, base, and the buried structure beneath Rakuten Oryndel. The entire prison pulled against itself, reacting to the first real thought Orvane had formed against it in millions of years.
Orvane looked down at the gold fused through his chest.
The Seat tightened.
Orvane's mouth opened as pain drove through him again, but he did not scream this time.
His freed hands closed around the chains.
Dark watched him.
Orvane pulled.
The first chain stretched until its links began to deform.
The Drowning Seat drove more broken divinity into him. Black water burst from the hollow in his chest. The broken halo flared and forced his head backward, trying to return him to the posture the prison had kept for ages.
Dark stepped forward.
Orvane: Do not.
Dark stopped.
Orvane looked at him through the blood running down his face.
Orvane: If choice remaineth...
His hands tightened.
Orvane: Then this one is mine.
He pulled again.
The chain around his chest snapped.
The sound struck the Underworld hard enough to split the black water from one end of Rakuten Oryndel to the other. The inverted gardens shook loose from the dead sky. White towers folded into themselves. Every small creature beyond the Domain dropped flat as the pressure from Orvane's body surged outward.
The remaining chains tightened at once.
Orvane roared and tore both arms apart.
The drowned gold buried through his wrists ripped free with them. Flesh peeled open. Bone showed. The wounds regenerated before the blood finished leaving his body, only to tear again as deeper restraints dragged against him.
The Drowning Seat screamed louder.
Orvane drove both feet against the base of the throne.
For the first time, his legs moved.
The black structure beneath him cracked.
Dark's eyes narrowed.
The power inside Orvane had never been absent.
It had been fed downward.
Every fragment of strength he produced had been swallowed by the Seat, multiplied through suffering, then returned in controlled portions to keep him useful and trapped. Now that the first restraints had broken, that stolen power came back without the prison deciding how much he was allowed to keep.
Orvane pulled himself forward.
The drowned gold fused through his ribs tore out of his body.
A violent burst of pale blood and black water struck the throne behind him. His back bent. The halo through his skull twisted sideways, then cracked completely as Orvane seized it with both hands and ripped it free.
For one moment, he held the broken halo in front of himself.
He looked at it.
Then crushed it.
The released force erased the upper half of Rakuten Oryndel's sky.
Orvane stood.
The Drowning Seat broke behind him.
The increase was immediate.
His seated state had been a restrained fraction buried beneath punishment, chains, and constant spiritual drainage. Freed from the throne, Orvane's power rose more than seven million times beyond what Dark had faced before.
The black water did not rise around him.
It fled.
His body changed as he stepped away from the ruins of the Seat. The drowned gold left inside his flesh pushed outward and formed narrow markings across his arms, chest, neck, and face. His pale hair lifted behind him. A complete halo began forming above his head, but it was no longer sacred gold. It was black at the center, surrounded by fractured white rings turning in opposite directions.
The robes hanging from him rebuilt from dead Heaven cloth and dark water. Six incomplete wings unfolded behind his back, each one made from white bone, black feathers, and streams of ruined divinity.
Orvane lifted his head.
The entire Domain shifted.
The staircases no longer descended.
They stopped.
The broken bridges ceased falling.
Every object that had been dragged downward remained suspended where it was.
Orvane: What has fallen...
Dark's cape snapped behind him as the pressure reached him.
Orvane: Shall never rise again.
Rakuten Oryndel accepted the new law.
Dark's feet sank into the black stone.
Not far.
Barely an inch.
But they sank.
His eyes moved downward.
Orvane disappeared.
Dark brought Kyuketsu across his body just before Orvane's fist struck.
The impact bent the katana against Dark's chest.
Dark was launched backward.
He tore through six white towers, crossed the width of a drowned garden, and crashed into a golden bridge hard enough to break it in half. Black stone burst around him. The bridge collapsed, but the Domain's new rule caught every fragment and locked them below their former height.
Dark pushed himself out of the ruin.
A bruise spread across his forearm.
Orvane was already above him.
Both hands came down together.
Dark crossed Kyuketsu over his head.
The strike drove him through the bridge and into the ground beneath it.
Rakuten Oryndel ruptured.
A crater opened through drowned sanctuaries, ancient graves, and black rivers beneath the Domain. Dark landed at its center with one knee lowered and Kyuketsu pressed across both palms.
Orvane descended after him.
Dark moved aside.
Orvane's heel struck the crater.
The entire lower section of the Domain collapsed.
Dark entered through the destruction and cut across Orvane's ribs.
Kyuketsu reached flesh.
The edge bit less than an inch.
Orvane caught the blade under his arm and drove his elbow into Dark's jaw.
Dark's head snapped aside.
Orvane struck him in the chest with an open palm.
Broken divinity exploded through Dark's back and launched him across the crater. Black material spread behind him, forming layered tendrils that stabbed into the ground and slowed his movement before he could reach the far wall.
Dark landed on both feet.
A thin line of blood left his mouth.
Orvane stood where he had struck him, staring down at the wound across his ribs.
The cut had already closed.
Orvane: Now thou strugglest.
Dark wiped his mouth.
Dark: A little.
Orvane's eyes hardened.
He raised one hand.
Every ruined weapon inside Oryndel appeared around Dark.
Broken spears belonging to dead Protectors. Swords carried by drowned kings. Bows made from the bones of angels. Axes wrapped in prayer-metal. Thousands of weapons filled the crater, each one carrying the last failed strike of the person who had once held it.
They attacked together.
Dark moved.
Kyuketsu cut the first sword apart. He turned under a spear, struck the shaft with his elbow, and redirected it through three incoming axes. Black material formed a second blade from his left hand, allowing him to parry two attacks from opposite sides while Kyuketsu erased the prayer inside a descending hammer.
The weapons multiplied.
Dark stepped between them instead of retreating.
A spear cut his shoulder.
A broken arrow grazed his side.
One of the angel-bone axes struck his black feather cloak and tore through several feathers before Dark caught the handle, rotated his body, and threw it back through the weapons behind him.
Orvane entered the storm.
His fist drove through the opening created by the axe.
Dark blocked with both forearms.
The force pushed him backward across the crater floor.
Orvane attacked again.
Dark parried the next punch outward, but the saint turned the motion into a knee aimed at his ribs. Dark caught the leg under one arm. Orvane twisted in the air and struck the side of Dark's head with his other heel.
Dark released him and slid several feet.
Orvane landed and closed the distance.
He punched.
Dark slipped left.
Orvane's second fist came from below.
Dark blocked it, but the pressure behind the strike lifted him from the ground.
Orvane opened both hands.
The six wings behind him drove forward like blades.
Dark crossed Kyuketsu and the black material weapon in front of his body. The wings struck together and carried him through the crater wall.
Stone folded around him.
For several seconds, Orvane saw nothing through the debris.
Then every fragment stopped.
Black material spread between them.
Dark walked out of the broken wall as the rubble remained suspended around him.
His cloak had been torn across one shoulder. Blood marked his cheek and lower lip. The fitted black fabric beneath his cape had split over his ribs, but his posture remained steady.
Orvane's breathing had grown heavier.
Dark noticed.
The power increase was enormous.
The body carrying it was not used to freedom.
Millions of years seated inside the Drowning Seat had not weakened Orvane's power, but they had taken movement from him. Every step required him to relearn balance. Every strike carried more force than his restored body naturally controlled. He was fighting through instinct, memory, fury, and strength returned too quickly.
Dark lowered Kyuketsu.
Orvane: Dost thou yield?
Dark: No.
Orvane: Then raise thy blade.
Dark let Kyuketsu dissolve into black material.
Orvane's face tightened.
Dark moved first.
He crossed the space between them and struck Orvane's chest with his palm. Orvane blocked and answered with a right hook. Dark leaned beneath it, drove his shoulder into Orvane's sternum, and pushed him back two steps.
Orvane planted his heel.
The Domain locked him at the lower point.
He grabbed Dark by the cloak and pulled him forward.
His forehead struck Dark's face.
Blood sprayed from Dark's nose.
Orvane followed with a punch toward the stomach.
Dark caught the wrist.
Orvane struck with the other hand.
Dark caught that one too.
For a moment, they stood chest to chest, Orvane forcing both arms forward while Dark held them away from his body.
The ground beneath Dark continued sinking.
Orvane: Thou offered choice because thou believedst thyself untouchable.
Dark looked into his eyes.
Dark: No.
Orvane forced harder.
Dark's boots sank another inch.
Dark: I offered it because I know what it is like to become something after everything else is taken.
Orvane drove his head forward again.
Dark released both wrists and stepped inside the attack.
His right leg came up.
The forward kick landed directly in Orvane's stomach.
There was no grand technique behind it.
No Domain.
No golden sphere.
No named attack.
Dark placed the sole of his foot into Orvane's abdomen and released enough force to end the fight.
Orvane's body folded around the kick.
The impact drove through his stomach, spine, wings, halo, and the law controlling Rakuten Oryndel. Every ring above his head stopped turning. His six wings snapped backward. The black water across the Domain flattened.
Orvane flew.
He crossed Rakuten Oryndel in less than a breath, tore through the remains of the Drowning Seat, and crashed into the farthest wall of the dead Heaven.
The wall broke.
Orvane continued through it and struck the buried foundation beneath Oryndel.
The entire Domain shook once.
Then stopped.
The weapons surrounding Dark fell into the water.
The rule released him.
Dark walked across the ruined ground.
He found Orvane lying inside the broken foundation with one hand pressed against his stomach. His body tried to rise, but the damage from the kick had disrupted his restored balance, broken several ribs, ruptured his internal organs, and knocked the free power inside him out of alignment.
He lifted his head.
Dark stopped several feet away.
Orvane: Finish it.
Dark: No.
Orvane coughed blood across the stone.
Orvane: Thou hast defeated me twice.
Dark: Yes.
Orvane: Then take what thou camest for.
Dark: I came back for you.
Orvane stared at him.
Dark raised one hand.
Four small shapes formed from black material above his palm.
The first became a blade.
The second became an open doorway filled with distant light.
The third became a dark crown surrounded by the silhouettes of Dark's Champions.
The fourth became the broken Drowning Seat.
Dark: You have four choices.
The blade turned slowly.
Dark: Fight again and force me to kill you.
The doorway opened wider.
Beyond it, Orvane saw land untouched by black water. A sky. Trees moving under wind. Empty space where no chains waited for him. It was not Oryndel returned. Dark did not insult him with that lie. It was somewhere else. Somewhere new.
Dark: Leave with no debt to me. I will take you somewhere the Drowning Seat cannot reach. You can live whatever life remains to you, and you will never have to see me again.
The crown and silhouettes moved next.
Dark: Join me willingly.
Orvane's eyes remained on them.
Dark: Become one of my Champions. Not a slave. Not a prisoner. Not a thing beneath my throne. You will fight beside the others, protect what you choose to protect, and keep the power that belongs to you.
The final shape turned into the Drowning Seat.
Dark: Or stay here.
Black chains grew across it.
Dark: Rebuild your prison. Call it yours again. Sit inside it until this place finishes eating whatever is left of you.
Orvane looked from one choice to the next.
Dark closed his hand.
The four shapes remained suspended between them.
Dark: I will not choose for you.
Orvane's voice came low.
Orvane: And if I join thee?
Dark: Then you leave this place now.
Orvane: And if thy Empire becomes another Oryndel?
Dark's expression did not soften.
Dark: Then stand against me.
Orvane's eyes narrowed.
Dark: If I become what destroyed you, use everything I give you and try to kill me.
The Underworld remained silent.
Dark: But make that decision because of what I do.
Dark looked toward the remains of the Drowning Seat.
Dark: Not because of what Sukojo did.
Orvane slowly removed his hand from his stomach.
He tried to stand.
His legs failed once.
Dark did not help him.
Orvane tried again.
This time, he rose.
Orvane remained bent at first, one arm pressed across his stomach while the damage from Dark's kick repaired itself. The shattered rings above his head resumed turning one at a time. His wings unfolded behind him, no longer spread for attack, but held low while his body struggled to control the power the Drowning Seat had kept buried for millions of years.
Dark waited several feet away.
He did not offer his hand.
He had already offered enough.
Orvane straightened slowly. Blood remained across his mouth and chest, but his pale eyes had changed. The fury was still there. The suspicion remained. Those things had kept him alive too long to disappear after one conversation and two defeats.
But he was listening now.
Orvane looked at the blade, the doorway, the crown of Champions, and the broken Seat still suspended between them.
Then he looked at Dark.
Orvane: Before I choose...
His voice carried less authority than before, but more of himself.
Orvane: Tell me what thou seekest.
Dark said nothing immediately.
Orvane's eyes narrowed.
Orvane: Not what thou offers me.
He gestured toward the ruined doorway leading away from the Underworld.
Orvane: Not what thy Empire calls thee.
His gaze moved over Dark's refined black clothing, the feathered mantle across his shoulders, and the long cape resting above the black water.
Orvane: Not the titles gathered around thy name.
He stepped forward despite the pain still working through his body.
Orvane: What is the end of thy road?
The four choices above Dark's palm dissolved.
The broken throne disappeared last.
Dark lowered his hand.
Dark: A world where people do not wake up wondering whether they will survive the day.
Orvane's expression remained still.
Dark continued.
Dark: A world where a child does not hear footsteps outside and have to guess whether the person coming through the door is a soldier, a slaver, a noble, a god, or another monster who knows nobody can stop them.
The black water around Dark's feet began to settle.
Dark: A world where people do not have to lower their eyes because someone has a higher rank.
His voice remained quiet.
It did not need to rise.
Dark: Where strength does not give anyone ownership over another life.
The remaining fragments of the Drowning Seat trembled behind Orvane.
Dark: Where rulers cannot erase families because they were offended. Where armies cannot burn villages and call it order. Where gods cannot create people, abandon them, return when they want worship, and punish them for surviving without permission.
Orvane's jaw tightened.
The words reached places inside him that attacks had failed to touch.
Dark took one step forward.
Dark: I want a world where ordinary people can sleep.
The Underworld reacted.
Not to pressure.
Not to an attack.
To him.
Dark's shadow spread beneath his boots and crossed the broken foundation of Rakuten Oryndel. It moved through the cracks left by their battle, passed beneath the black rivers, climbed the remains of drowned sanctuaries, and covered the ruined roads that had carried prisoners toward the Drowning Seat for ages.
His aura did not crush the Domain.
It occupied it.
Every remaining white pillar turned black from its base upward. The inverted gardens stopped hanging from the drowned sky and slowly rotated into their proper position. Broken bridges ceased trying to fall. Across the horizon, countless doors buried beneath black water opened for the first time since Oryndel died.
Dark's eyes became bright white.
The light inside them did not resemble Heaven.
It did not ask for prayer.
It did not demand that Orvane kneel.
It simply made the dead Underworld visible.
Dark: I want people to live without spending every second afraid that someone stronger will notice them.
His black material moved across the ground and reached the slaves hiding beyond the shattered Domain. It did not wrap around them. It did not mark them. It formed solid paths beneath their feet, giving them somewhere to stand without sinking into Orvane's black water.
Tiny angels lifted their heads.
Gray elves stared at roads that had not existed before.
The little demons who had served Orvane for generations backed away at first, then realized the darkness was not pulling them anywhere.
Dark looked beyond Orvane.
Dark: I know death cannot be erased.
His voice moved through the Underworld without becoming an echo.
Dark: People will still die. Battles will still happen. Some beings will still choose cruelty. Some will refuse every chance they are given.
His gaze returned to Orvane.
Dark: I am not stupid enough to promise a world where nothing hurts.
Orvane watched him closely.
Dark: I want a world where suffering is not the foundation.
The ruins of the Drowning Seat cracked again.
Dark: Where fear is not how governments keep order.
Another crack.
Dark: Where obedience is not mistaken for peace.
The drowned gold fused into the broken throne began flaking away.
Dark: Where someone born weak is not treated like they were born for the use of someone stronger.
The black sky above Rakuten Oryndel split open.
There was no sunlight beyond it.
There were no stars.
Only the vast structure of the Underworld of All Worlds, stretching through impossible distances. Dead palaces. Bone fields. Black rivers. Broken divine roads. Ruins belonging to Worlds that had fallen before Dark was born.
Dark stood beneath all of it.
His aura continued spreading.
It moved through the Underworld without destroying it. Every place it passed became quiet. The dead structures stopped groaning. The black rivers slowed. Ancient things buried beneath the bone fields opened their eyes, felt the presence moving above them, and chose not to rise.
Dark: I want power to become responsibility.
His cape lifted behind him.
Black feathers separated from the mantle and circled slowly around his body, each one carrying a thin white edge from the light in his eyes.
Dark: If someone is stronger, then they should be the first one standing between danger and the people who cannot survive it.
The ground beneath him darkened until it looked like polished black glass.
Dark: If someone calls themselves a ruler, they should lose sleep before their people do.
The remains of Orvane's halo stopped rotating.
Dark: If someone calls themselves a god, an Emperor, a king, a captain, a master, or anything else meant to place them above another person, then they should answer for every life harmed beneath that title.
Orvane stared at him.
Dark: Including me.
The aura stopped spreading.
Everything became still.
That final answer reached Orvane harder than the rest.
Orvane: Thou wouldst place thyself beneath judgment?
Dark: I already do.
Orvane: By whose hand?
Dark: Anyone strong enough to prove I became what I hate.
Orvane's gaze sharpened.
Dark: My Champions.
The silhouettes returned behind Dark, but this time they were not vague shapes. Orvane saw them through the connection Dark had offered.
Cosmic, standing against Sereon with cold white pressure gathering around him.
Igor, holding God Killer while blood ran across one side of his face.
Champion Sukojo, smiling beneath the violence of the war.
One, planted like an unmovable wall.
Biru, hidden between moments, claws wet with blood.
Ningin, Raz, Vel, Malik, Clum, Cal, Syv, and Brak.
All of them different.
All of them dangerous.
None of them chained.
Dark: They are not there to worship me.
Orvane watched Igor move through the distant battle.
Dark: They are there because they chose to stand with me.
Dark's gaze remained steady.
Dark: And if I ever become another thing that uses strength to make everyone beneath it afraid, then they have the right to stand against me.
Orvane: Would they?
Dark: Some would hesitate.
The honesty surprised him.
Dark: Some would try to save me from myself first.
Dark's expression hardened.
Dark: But they would.
Orvane looked toward Cosmic.
Even through the distant connection, the Supreme Champion's refusal to bend was obvious.
Orvane: And thy father?
Dark: He would kill me himself if he believed nothing remained.
The Underworld fell silent again.
Orvane slowly turned away.
He looked across what remained of Rakuten Oryndel.
The Domain no longer resembled the prison it had been when Dark entered. The Drowning Seat was broken. The stairs were level. The bridges were no longer falling. The slaves stood on roads Dark had created but had not ordered them to follow.
Orvane: Thou speaks of peace while carrying enough force to terrify Worlds.
Dark: Yes.
Orvane: Thou gathers monsters.
Dark: Yes.
Orvane: Thou builds armies.
Dark: Yes.
Orvane: Thou places Champions beneath thy name.
Dark: Beside it.
Orvane turned back.
Orvane: Is that not merely a kinder description of hierarchy?
Dark: No.
Orvane: Explain.
Dark looked at the distant silhouettes of his Champions.
Dark: Rank tells me who carries what responsibility.
He looked at Orvane again.
Dark: It does not tell me whose life matters more.
Orvane did not answer.
Dark: A civilian in my Empire does not become less valuable because Cosmic could erase what they live inside.
Dark's voice sharpened slightly.
Dark: A soldier does not become property because a commander can defeat them.
Dark: A Champion does not lose the right to question me because I made them stronger.
Dark: And an Emperor does not become more deserving of peace than the child hiding from his war.
The white in Dark's eyes intensified.
Not violently.
Completely.
The Underworld behind him became an extension of his silhouette. Black rivers curved around his presence. Broken towers stood like distant guards. The roads beneath the slaves stretched farther, connecting ruins that had remained isolated for ages.
Dark stood in the center of a dead Heaven and looked more alive than everything that had ever ruled it.
Dark: I do not want to stand above everyone.
His aura pressed outward once.
The entire Underworld of All Worlds felt him.
Far beyond Rakuten Oryndel, things worshipped as death lowered their heads without understanding why.
Ancient rulers trapped beneath their own ruins remembered fear.
Broken saints opened their eyes.
Prisoners inside places with no doors felt the walls shake.
Dark: I want to stand where the thing coming for them has to pass through me first.
The pressure withdrew.
Dark remained.
No throne formed beneath him.
No crown appeared above him.
He had no need for either.
Orvane watched him for a long time.
Orvane: And when thy world is built?
Dark: I keep protecting it.
Orvane: Forever?
Dark: As long as I can.
Orvane: And when thou canst not?
Dark looked toward the Champions fighting above.
Dark: Then someone stronger, better, or less broken takes my place.
Orvane's eyes narrowed.
Orvane: Thou would surrender thy throne?
Dark: If holding it made the world worse.
Orvane searched his face.
Dark did not look away.
Orvane: Power does not release those who possess it easily.
Dark: I know.
Orvane: And thou believes thyself different?
Dark: No.
The answer came without pride.
Dark: I believe I have people around me who will not let me forget what I started for.
The little angels beyond the Domain stepped onto the black roads.
One of them took another step.
Nothing happened.
No chain rose.
No order followed.
A gray elf looked toward Orvane, waiting for punishment.
Orvane did not give it.
Dark noticed.
Orvane noticed that Dark noticed.
For millions of years, Orvane had believed ownership was the only thing separating presence from abandonment. Those who belonged to him remained. Those who did not eventually left, died, betrayed, or disappeared.
Dark had entered his grave, broken his prison, defeated him twice, offered freedom to everyone around him, and still remained standing there without taking anything.
Orvane looked at the open doorway again.
A new life waited beyond it.
No duty.
No Empire.
No Dark.
He could leave.
He could find a silent World and live without ever lifting a weapon again.
For a moment, the idea moved across his face.
Then he looked toward the distant battle.
At Sereon.
At Kurai.
At the Champions bleeding while Dark remained trapped below.
Orvane: Thy people fight while thou speaks with me.
Dark: Yes.
Orvane: They may die.
Dark's eyes hardened.
Dark: Yes.
Orvane: Yet thou remained.
Dark: Because leaving you here would mean accepting this place had the right to finish what Sukojo started.
Orvane became still.
Dark: It does not.
The remnants of Oryndel seemed to hold their breath.
Orvane looked down at his hands.
Hands that had carried children from burning sanctuaries.
Hands that had fought for gods who failed him.
Hands that had torn themselves open against chains because Dark told him the prison was not his identity.
Orvane: If I stand beside thee...
Dark waited.
Orvane: I will not worship thee.
Dark: Good.
Orvane: I will not kneel because thy title commands it.
Dark: Good.
Orvane: I will question thy judgment.
Dark: You should.
Orvane: And if thy Empire becomes another Heaven feeding upon those beneath it...
Dark: Tear it apart.
Orvane raised his eyes.
Dark: Then help me build it again correctly.
The saint stared at him.
Something almost resembling disbelief entered his expression.
Then it left.
Orvane walked forward.
His first step remained uneven.
His second was stronger.
By the third, the millions of years inside the Seat were no longer deciding how he moved.
He stopped directly in front of Dark.
The shattered halo above Orvane's head turned slowly. His six wings folded behind him. The last traces of blood disappeared from his mouth, but the scars left by the Drowning Seat remained across his wrists, ribs, spine, and skull.
Orvane: I have followed gods.
Dark said nothing.
Orvane: I have defended rulers.
He looked at the ruins around them.
Orvane: I have obeyed Heaven.
His pale eyes returned to Dark.
Orvane: Every one of them placed itself above the lives it claimed to protect.
Dark held out his hand.
Orvane looked at it.
Orvane: If thy words prove false...
Dark: Then kill me.
Orvane reached forward.
His hand closed around Dark's.
Orvane: Then I shall see whether thy world deserves to rise.
The Champion system answered.
Not with a voice.
With recognition.
A black circle opened beneath both of them, vast enough to cover the broken remains of Rakuten Oryndel. White symbols spread around its edge, each one connected to a Champion already carrying Dark's authority. Cosmic. Igor. Champion Sukojo. One. Biru. Ningin. Raz. Vel. Malik. Clum. Cal. Syv. Brak.
A final space remained empty.
Orvane looked downward.
Dark's grip tightened.
Dark: Orvane Veyrath.
The Underworld shook.
Dark: The Saint That Sank.
The broken pieces of the Drowning Seat lifted from the ground and began collapsing inward. Drowned gold, black water, ruined divinity, broken halo fragments, dead prayer-metal, and the remains of the chains all gathered around Orvane.
He did not recoil.
Dark: You are no longer its prisoner.
The black circle rose around them like a wall.
Dark: You are no longer the ruler of a grave.
The remains of the Seat entered Orvane's body.
Not as chains.
As power returned.
His back arched. His wings spread wide enough to cover the broken Heaven. The fractured rings above his head came together, not into the Sacred Halo he once possessed, but into something new.
A black halo formed first.
A second ring of drowned gold rotated around it.
A third ring of white fire opened beyond both.
The three circles turned at different speeds, carrying the memory of what Orvane had been, what he had suffered, and what he had chosen to become.
Dark: From this moment forward...
The black circle beneath them erupted upward.
Orvane's robes changed. The dead Heaven cloth became a long black and white mantle fitted across his body, lined with drowned gold that no longer entered his flesh. The scars around his wrists remained visible. His wings rebuilt into six vast structures of black feathers, white bone, and golden light, with smaller broken rings moving between them.
His power multiplied.
Not by seven million.
Far beyond it.
The Underworld recoiled from him.
Dark's existing Champions felt the new presence enter the system.
Above, in the middle of the war, every one of them changed.
Dark looked into Orvane's eyes.
Dark: You are my Champion.
The saint's new halo turned once.
Orvane released Dark's hand and stood beside him.
Not behind him.
Beside him.
Orvane: Then let us return to thy people.
Dark turned toward the path leading upward.
The Underworld opened before its Emperor and its newest Champion.
The opening did not lead toward land.
It tore directly into the open battlefield, where shattered pieces of Worlds, ruined cities, broken mountains, and rivers of displaced light remained suspended across an endless sky. Gravity had already lost all authority over the war. Every surviving fighter moved through the air through flight, pressure, wings, magic, or physical control alone.
Dark rose from the Underworld first.
The black path carried him through the opening and dissolved beneath his feet the moment he crossed into the battlefield. His body remained airborne without shifting, his long cape spreading behind him while the black feathers across his shoulders moved in the pressure of the ongoing fight.
Orvane emerged beside him.
His six wings unfolded across the open air. Black feathers spread between exposed white bone and drowned-gold light, while the three halos above him rotated at different speeds. The pressure released by his arrival pushed floating debris away and scattered the blood hanging throughout the battlefield into thin red streams.
The battle did not stop for them.
Cosmic drove his fist toward Sereon from above while Champion Sukojo approached from below, smiling as his hands reached for Sereon's body. One forced his way through the air from the left, black fire compressed around his arms, while Biru appeared from Sereon's right without leaving a visible route behind him.
Sereon turned Suigōraku.
Cosmic's fist passed through a false conclusion. Champion Sukojo's hands closed around empty air. One's fire crossed into Biru's path, and Biru twisted around it before his claws could strike the wrong target.
Dark accelerated from the opening.
The air collapsed behind him as he crossed the battlefield and brought Kyuketsu down toward Sereon's shoulder. Suigōraku rose to meet it. The two blades struck, and the space between them vanished in a clean line that stretched through several floating ruins.
Sereon's eyes moved toward Orvane.
Sereon: Orvane Veyrath.
Orvane flew forward, all six wings folding behind him as his body accelerated.
Orvane: Thou knowest the name of the dead.
Sereon turned away from Dark's blade and redirected Kyuketsu toward the empty air beside him.
Sereon: I know what refused to remain dead.
Orvane reached him.
His fist crossed the final distance, but Sereon rotated his body through the air and allowed the strike to pass beside his ribs. Orvane turned immediately, one wing cutting toward Sereon's neck while another approached from beneath him.
Both wings closed.
The successful result became glass and shattered between them.
The real Sereon reappeared several meters above, already moving Suigōraku toward Dark again.
Farther across the battlefield, Igor and Kurai continued fighting without looking toward the opening.
Igor's black armor remained sealed around his entire body. Layered plates covered his chest, neck, shoulders, and limbs, while the enclosed war helmet concealed his face completely. A narrow crimson light remained visible behind the visor, fixed on Kurai through every burst of lightning between them. His long dark cape moved behind him as he adjusted his position in the air, and God Killer remained steady inside his armored hand.
Kurai accelerated.
Lightning burst behind him and formed a violent pressure cone around his body. He crossed the space between them and drove a punch toward Igor's helmet.
Igor tilted aside.
The fist passed close enough for lightning to scrape across the side of the helmet and burn a bright line through the black metal, but the strike never touched his head.
God Killer moved.
Kurai twisted away from the first cut and raised his knee toward Igor's chest. Igor caught the leg beneath one armored arm, turned through the air, and threw Kurai away from him.
Kurai corrected his flight almost immediately.
He returned faster.
His body disappeared inside a burst of lightning before reappearing above Igor, both hands coming down toward the swordsman's shoulders.
Igor raised God Killer horizontally.
The impact drove him several meters downward through the open air, but his body stopped before Kurai could follow. Igor turned the blade, forced Kurai's hands away, and accelerated directly into him.
The armored shoulder struck Kurai's chest.
Kurai was driven backward.
Igor remained attached to him through the movement, one hand holding God Killer while the other caught Kurai's wrist and prevented him from changing direction.
Kurai released lightning through Igor's armor.
Blue-white current spread across the black plates, entering every opening it could find. The armor smoked. Pieces of metal heated until they glowed.
Igor did not release him.
Kurai raised his free arm.
Igor moved first.
God Killer entered Kurai's chest.
There was no exchange of final words.
No pause.
No announcement.
The black blade broke through the sternum, passed between the ribs, and pierced directly through Kurai's heart before emerging from his back.
Kurai's body stopped.
The lightning surrounding him vanished almost immediately.
His eyes remained open for less than a second before every sign of life left them. His arms lowered, his body becoming weightless around the blade holding him in the air.
Igor pulled God Killer free.
Kurai's corpse drifted backward through the open sky.
That was the end of the Lightning Monarch.
Sereon saw it.
His eyes followed Kurai's body for one brief moment before returning to the Champions surrounding him.
Nothing visible changed in his face.
That made Dark notice.
Sereon had spent the entire battle reading, redirecting, correcting, and allowing every opponent enough room to believe they were approaching victory. He had fought like a man proving a conclusion rather than one trying to finish a war.
That patience disappeared.
Suigōraku lowered beside him.
The air across the entire battlefield became still.
Cosmic stopped before his next strike reached Sereon. Champion Sukojo's smile narrowed. Biru appeared fully for the first time in several exchanges. One's black fire compressed around his body, while Orvane's wings opened wide enough to cover the space behind Dark.
Igor turned away from Kurai's drifting body.
Sereon lifted his head.
Sereon: Enough.
Water appeared across the open air.
Not beneath them.
Everywhere.
Thin transparent lines formed around the Champions, stretching through the battlefield in every direction. They wrapped around movement itself, touching Cosmic's fist, Biru's claws, Igor's blade, Orvane's wings, One's fire, and the bodies of every Champion preparing to attack.
Sereon closed one hand.
Sereon: Influence Art.
Suigōraku turned inside the other.
Sereon: Nami Shiyū.
Every direction changed.
Cosmic was thrown upward through several floating ruins before stopping himself. Champion Sukojo was launched downward, his body crossing miles of open air while he laughed through the force. One and the others were driven away in different directions, their attacks stripped from their control and returned against their own movement.
Biru vanished beneath the pressure, then reappeared much farther away with blood running from his claws.
Igor crossed God Killer in front of his armor, but the force still carried him backward through the sky. His cape tore loose from one shoulder while the blade vibrated inside his grip.
Orvane opened all six wings and resisted.
The white bone bent.
The drowned-gold light fractured.
Then even he was thrown away from Sereon, his massive wings dragging through the air as he fought to stop himself.
For the first time, every Champion had been removed from the space around Sereon at once.
Dark remained in front of him.
The pressure pushed against Dark's body and forced him backward through the air, but he stopped himself before the distance became more than several meters. His cape settled behind him as Kyuketsu lowered beside his leg.
Sereon raised Suigōraku.
The calm in his eyes remained.
The restraint did not.
Sereon: Now, Dark. You will fall too.
To Be Continued.
End Of Arc 4 Chapter 12.
