The man's flippant smile cut like a blade. His words stabbed straight into Clementine's nerves.
Her face turned iron-blue in an instant, yet her lips stretched into an exaggerated grin—wide and grotesque, like a slit-mouthed demon.
"Thanks for that," Clementine said coldly, her voice sharp as ice. "You've helped me remember some very precious memories."
Her eyes burned with fading remnants of fire and lightning as the magical chaos dissipated, revealing the two figures inside the barrier—unharmed, unscathed.
"Next," she continued, voice dripping with malice,
"I'll slice your flesh off piece by piece… and feed it back to you myself."
Clementine knew it clearly now.
This fight would be extremely difficult.
No—
This fight was bad. Very bad.
The layered magic barriers, inside and out, allowed the enemy to practically ignore her attacks. Khajit, whose strength lay mainly in undead summoning, lacked decisive offensive magic. All they could do was drag the battle into a prolonged war of attrition.
But someone capable of casting fifth-tier magic would obviously also know third-tier flight magic.
They could fight.
They could retreat.
Clementine and Khajit?
They could only stare helplessly.
Using the Bone Dragon to pursue was impossible. Once the distance increased, Khajit's control would rapidly weaken, and the Bone Dragon would collapse on its own.
Their only option was suppression—
To keep the enemy grounded at all costs.
The one small comfort was that under Khajit's swift counterattacks, over half of the angels had already been destroyed. The undead legion was finally pressing close to Uchiha Soren.
Clang!
A skeletal warrior hacked at the magic barrier, producing a shrill screech like metal scraping stone. The barrier rippled slightly—then stabilized, still flowing with luminous mana.
"Soren, leave these mobs to me!" Lilynette called out.
Standing safely within the barrier, her confidence surged. While commanding the remaining angels to fall back and defend, she continued summoning more with her partially recovered mana.
Angels, even in the Magic Continent, were classified as otherworldly beings. As summons, they were slightly stronger than same-tier monsters, capable of special abilities and spells, with formidable resistance to non-enchanted physical attacks.
Put simply—
At the same level, one angel could fight three undead.
Though at higher tiers, that advantage gradually disappeared.
Holy light flared in the angels' hands, and the undead advance faltered.
Khajit continued summoning and reinforcing, but Soren was already losing patience. He had finished gauging their limits.
Now—
It was his turn.
"Fifth-Tier Magic — Frost-Thunder Knight Lance."
A knight's lance forged of ice, wrapped in crackling arcs of lightning, materialized before Soren. At his command, it pierced through the nearby skeletal warriors and shot forward—straight toward Khajit.
ROAR!
The Bone Dragon let out a hoarse bellow and interposed itself in front of Khajit. The spell's magical damage was nullified entirely.
But the pure physical impact shattered the struck area, blasting bone fragments into the air.
"My Bone Dragon!" Khajit screamed in anguish.
The Orb of Death flared as he hurriedly repaired its body, eyes fixed on Soren's raised hand, his heart pounding.
"Fifth-Tier Magic — Rain of Thunderfire!"
Three magic orbs behind Soren ignited simultaneously.
In the next instant, countless orbs of thunder and flame poured down from the sky.
Clementine's pupils shrank. She and Khajit dove beneath the Bone Dragon's wings.
The undead legion wasn't so lucky.
Avoiding the angels, the thunderfire slammed into the ground like exploding grenades. Smoke and debris filled the air, leaving behind scorched craters and shattered remains.
"One spell wiped out my entire undead army…" Khajit growled, climbing onto the Bone Dragon's back, eyes filled with dread. "Since when did someone like you exist in this kingdom?"
Secretly, he commanded the Bone Dragon to ascend.
That spell alone rivaled sixth-tier attack magic. Without the Bone Dragon's immunity, they would have been erased instantly.
Continuing the fight was pointless.
He hadn't spent five years accumulating negative energy just to die here.
(The old bastard is trying to run!)
Clementine realized it instantly—and panicked. She flipped onto the Bone Dragon's back. Khajit shot her an angry glare.
She returned it with a dangerous smile.
Khajit swallowed and turned back toward Soren.
"I don't care who you are. I have no interest in dragging this out!"
After casting Negative Energy Enhancement, the Bone Dragon began to rise.
"Hey, hey," Soren said lazily, displeased.
"The guest hasn't left yet—how can the host leave first?"
Mana surged violently within him. The elemental pressure alone forced Khajit to hurl multiple Flames of the Dead at the barrier in desperation.
"Angels, attack!" Lilynette commanded.
The flying angels swarmed the Bone Dragon. Blades, maces, and blunt strikes rocked its body, making it stagger midair.
"Combat Skill — Windstride Breaker!"
Clementine vanished.
Her speed surpassed even the observation limit of a two-tomoe Sharingan. In the blink of an eye, the angels in the air shattered into fragments, dispersing into light.
(Her close-quarters strength is still terrifying…)
Khajit swallowed hard and urged the Bone Dragon higher. The rapidly intensifying mana below terrified him.
The Bone Dragon could resist sixth-tier magic.
They couldn't.
One hit would be death.
"Low-Origin Primal Magic — Frostmourne."
A bloodline-ascended spell derived from the Frost Dragon King, unleashed by Soren himself.
In an instant—
A world of ice descended.
All negative energy froze solid. Snowflakes landed gently on Khajit's shoulder—then, in the blink of an eye, he became an ice sculpture.
Clementine tried to dodge—
Too late.
She froze mid-motion, entombed in ice, along with the Bone Dragon, plummeting toward the ground.
Lower-tier angels were unable to withstand the bone-chilling cold and vanished one after another. Only two Throne Angels remained, barely managing to spread their wings and clutch Clementine's frozen body.
Below, the Bone Dragon and Khajit struck the frozen earth—
And shattered into countless fragments of ice.
