Chapter 39 - Chapter 39

A few days later while sitting across from Reedus, Felix held a storyboard and illustrations of the characters. He was in the middle of his idea and provided a rough sketch of the flow of storyboards. For it turns out that determining the panelling and how to adjust the story for double pages and so on was actually a skill in itself.

To make sure that a double page actually ends up as a double page and half on one side and on the other. He had to take account of the page number and put the first part on an even number. For in this world, comics are like japanese comics and are read right to left.

"I understand." Reedus nodded looking over the storyboard.

"I have sketched up about seven chapters." Felix placed a stack of papers before him.

The sketching wasn't perfect as they were just sketches that conveyed the characters and bit of the background. Thanks to the help of the Archive magic, it helped him save a bit of time thus he was able to sketch out seven chapters in one go.

"Woah!" Reedus looked surprised. "From my knowledge, it usually takes more time to create a chapter."

"The story wasn't the issue, but how to panel it. Once I got the hang of it, the rest was easy." Felix answered.

"I understand." Reedus nodded as he began flipping through the pages.

Felix got up and headed to the mission board. Upon looking over the mission there, he saw some for finding lost pets, items or investigating ruins. Overall there are a variety of missions making Felix rub his chin. He didn't see many subjugation missions, probably because they have been popular lately.

If Mirajane wasn't on top then Natsu and Gray were. If not them, then the other guild members were low on money as these types were higher pay compared to others. Only Levy doesn't tend to frequently take these kinds of missions.

For why he doesn't take an S-class mission. The last time he looked, the ones there didn't interest him much.

"It's been a while since I went to sea." Felix pulled a flyer.

The mission is to go to a research station called Mana One that is located in the middle of the ocean. For this mission, it is mainly doing guard duty in case an ocean magical beast comes near and to drive them away.

Due to the research base mainly studying marine life, sometimes a magical creature of the ocean comes over. Most of the time they aren't that strong like the Giant Sperm Whale or the Nine Tails Fox.

'I wonder if I can fish?' Felix thought to himself.

"Levy, do you want to go on a mission with me?" Felix called out.

At one of the guild tables, a small girl with blue hair looked up from her book. She wore a bright orange colored dress and had a bandana tied into her shoulder length hair. Her feet kicked the air as she seemed to be enjoying the book in hand.

Today was a rare day she didn't have Droy or Jet hanging around her. Thus she had a peace of mind about their antics.

"What kind of mission is it?" Levy asked a bit cautiously.

"Guarding a research station on the sea." Felix replied.

Levy seemed to think about it which gave Felix a bit of confidence in her acceptance. If he isn't rejected outright, then he has a small chance of someone joining him. Usually they end up screaming they won't join him again at the end as bodies pile up though.

Still, he felt like he was on a roll where not too many were dying in his last few missions. So why not take this chance in having his friends join him for a few.

"Alright." Levy agreed.

Levy rushed over to the counter as Felix submitted it to Makarov. The guild master glanced at it, then not even looking at Felix glanced at Levy.

"Are you sure you want to go with him?" Makarov asked.

"My luck has been pretty good in the last few." Felix muttered.

"Is there something wrong with the quest?" Levy seemed a bit hesitant now.

"No, but didn't last time you say you won't go on a quest with this brat again."

Levy turned a bit green as memories surfaced in her mind. She recalled the countless human bones as they discovered a cave of Wendigo who had been eating humans for years. The quest was originally to discover a teen who went missing, only to find his severed head half eaten and the monster lair.

Unlike Felix who just went in and dealt with the Wendigo, she had nightmares for a month afterwards. She recalled that within the lair, the final tally of human remains inside was around forty.

"It shouldn't be as bad this time. We are just guarding a research base right?" Levy wavered.

Makarov nodded.

"I will still go with Felix." Levy said.

Once Makarov approved of the mission, Felix and Levy returned to their homes to grab their gear. Due to the frequency of going on jobs, most guild members tended to keep a ready to go bag. If not, they will prepare one before going to the guild to take on a job they know that will take a few days.

Within the train heading to Hargeon Town, Felix held his sketch pad as he continued to work on sketching the storyboards. Across from him, Levy held open a book as she read with her feet kicking a bit in the air.

"Felix, I meant to ask, but do you like Mira?" Levy asked.

"I do. I also like Erza, Cana, Lisanna, you and others." Felix nodded.

Even if he doesn't say it or show as much as he wants due to needing to keep his emotions in check. He does like his friends and the guild as chaotic it is, everyone could be considered friends within it.

Levy blushed at hearing she was included for a moment, before shaking her head.

"I mean like like." Levy said.

"The dating kind of like?" Felix tilted his head.

"Yes!"

"Then does that mean I should also date Cana, Lisanna, Erza and you? I like you all as much as I like her." Felix asked.

Levy's face turned bright red as she chose to drop this topic. Felix just looked out the window as he began to get lost in his own thoughts. It was true that he tended to favor Mirajane a bit more among his friends, but he liked most of his bath companions about the same.

Still, he is hesitant about his feelings since he needs to be wary. He is a bearer of the Alpha Stigma and it was lucky the last time he lost control he could regain sanity before too much destruction.

If something happens to them and he loses control, he doesn't know if he would have the will to regain it at that time.

The train continued onwards until it pulled into Hargeon Station. Once they disembarked, they headed to the Port where a ship is prepared to head out to Mana One to resupply those at the station.

"Hopefully this mission will go well." Levy said.
