The Reflection in the Glass
After his stop at the bakery Sebastian couldn't help himself, he had to go to the Blue Serene Spa. He sat in the dark sensory room – his favorite place – the plush robe comfortably loose on his athletic frame, and the sounds of quiet water splashing in a rhythmic pattern around him.
He exhaled deeply. He knew Amber had crested this experience just for him. She knew how hard it was for him to get all that harsh noise out of his head. The Sensory room was made to be an ultra private and unique experience for guests – and Sebastian knew it – he pulled one of his favorite bronze pieces out of his robe pocket, the sound of water splashing somewhere near his right ear. He smiled.
He had brought the piece with him for comfort. For some reason it always made him feel comfortable in stressful situations. It was such a precious piece, not his first by any means, but it held special meaning for him. He rubbed his finger over the bronze, quickly finding the initials he etched into the back lower edge. He sank deeper into his chair, signaling the room to change the sensory. Quiet black light began to roll across the room, in time with the splashing water, feeling like hands kneading the stress from his weary grey cells.
His fingers ran over the initials – AS – just as his mind quieted all together. It was just him and blissful mental peace. No deadlines, no responsibilities, no piece to be completed for some exclusive show. Just him and the dark.
Amber truly knew him so well.
Sebastian's hour was up – he already had another one scheduled for that evening – and now he was sitting in a massage chair getting ready for a deep tissue and hot rock massage. He saw the two female workers smiling at him – like they always did – he tried his best to be polite but he thought it was a poor worker who smiled at their boss' husband. He would have to speak to Amber about these two.
The chair was working a tight spot in his lower back as the girls readied his table and the rocks that would be used. They slipped into whispered conversation as they kept looking over to Sebastian to see if he was paying attention. Of course he was, his eyes gently closed as he allowed the chair to prep him for human hands.
"So he took Mrs. LT to some exclusive vacation again." The first girl sounded to be on the verge of swooning.
"Are you sure? Mrs. LT does not really take breaks."
"I know right? That's what makes him so beyond awesome I mean think about it. They both have so much money and he just swoops in and says 'relax my love. It's time to spend some of this.' Don't roll your eyes at me Marian."
"Well stop being so dramatic. He is practical, he is probably just wanting her to de-stress a bit."
Sebastian smiled inwardly. For him it was like Amber had sent these girls to him just to send him the message. Their fake whispering and childish like gossiping. Amber was telling him how much she appreciated him for taking care of her. She understood the threat that Calvin posed to her and she was glad he rectified it for her. Now her having them obviously talking about Dan only meant that she was ready for him to be dealt with.
She settled back into the large recliner as it began to roll up and down the full length of his body. He allowed himself a smile. Amber was finally ready to end this charade. It was time for Dan Trace to finally understand that he never had a chance.
His eyes opened slowly, as he looked to the two young ladies and the flat black rocks. "You should have never disrespected her Dan." He closes his eyes and withdrew into himself. Tonight he would begin looking into Trace Communications. He and Amber would be off to see mommy soon.
As Marian and Olivia prepped Mr. Montague for his finally treatment for the morning Dan was leading Amber into a study in the bedroom suite.
"Are your eyes closed?"
"My eyes are closed." Amber couldn't help but giggle. "What are we doing Dan? I mean you couldn't possibly have a surprise for me."
"Don't underestimate me Dr. Lance-Trace."
"That's Mrs. Trace to you sir."
He kissed her wide smile then whispered into her ear. "Open Your eyes Mrs. Trace."
She opened them with her smile still wife on her lips. Then she frowned. Then she was surprised, elated, and emotional. She ran the gambit before she could look at him. Somehow he had gotten supplies to make over the room. She knew in her heart that it was for the baby but she wasn't sure.
He nodded, as if answering the question in her mind. "Let's remake this study for the baby. I am not saying we will even be here when he is born but if we are he will open his eyes in a storybook fantasy."
Tears came to her eyes and she opened and closed her mouth a few times without being able to say anything. Finally she wrapped her arms around his neck and he picked her up into his arms and spun her around once and carried her to his horrible renderings.
