Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Third Seat Yamaru

The stars zoomed past him as he made his way through the spatial tunnel. And although his face was deadpan his narrow amethyst eyes told a different story.

Yamaru was annoyed.

Why did he have to be the one to take on this role? This felt more like an errand run than anything else. It was beneath him, and maybe the only redeeming quality was that he would get to see the 'legendary' Immortal Flame.

'Would someone so great ever be captured and sealed?' Yamaru thought in disdain.

He had heard tales of the great dragon Aragon, and of his strength but he only heard those tales in his childhood. That was 500 years ago, now he had an understanding of the world, had great power at his fingertips. His master was ruler of Astaroth, second to none, an Overlord.

How could an old dragon live up to that?

The stars stopped and Yamaru stood in front of a dome of energy. Runes that glowed with a delicate purple shimmered with ethereal light. Yamaru looked at it with a hint of awe in his eyes.

The seal of Andomidas. Master had called this his greatest masterpiece. It was bound to the life force of whichever was sealed within and would only be released upon their death. Yamaru placed a hand against it. The seal pulsed beneath his dark hand with thin long claws.

The seal was dim and weakened.

Yamaru narrowed his eyes and appeared on a spot just before its apex.

There was a crack in the seal with a cold lingering energy.

'Someone else has been here' Yamaru contemplated before shaking his head.

This was beneath him. With a flip of a palm, an amulet materialized. It was eye-shaped with a purple ruby embedded in its center. He pressed it against the seal and it allowed him to passage.

Passing through the seal's barrier left him deeply uncomfortable. Ever since he awakened his Seed and unlocked his talent he had always been aware of the space around him, always able to exert his influence upon it, to mold it.

The Seal of Andomidas prevented that.

When he appeared in the grey skies of the Forgotten Flame's prison, he frowned.

There was nothing but blackened land. It was filled with ash as though swept by a great fire. However in the center of it all was a tall mountain that pierced towards the heavens. At the base a lake of clear water settled with a wall of water spilling into it.

The place looked like a wasteland and that dissatisfied him even further. How could someone of his standing be here?

It was all his fault. That wretched man who had taken the position of the First Seat and ultimately pushed him down to the Third. His clawed hands clenched, cracks spreading through the space around them.

Yamaru calmed himself. A time would come when that man bowed beneath his heel.

He looked towards the peak of the blackened mountain and without so much as a step, he appeared directly above it, peering through the cavity that led deep into the mountain.

He descended. Space becoming malleable like water and allowing him to sink.

"Argh!" wails of agony echoed in his ears. Was Immortal Flame finally approaching his end?

Yamaru descended faster. His interest piqued. And when he finally reached the bottom, standing over a cavern as wide as a gladiator arena, with the walls glimmering with purple runes identical to those of the seal. He saw something he could never have imagined…no he was sure even his master would have never anticipated something like this.

The 'legendary' Immortal Flame was right there but his attention was elsewhere. Lying on the ground, a boy wailed in agony, his eyes shot red with blood and his body convulsing. He looked like something was eating him alive from the inside.

It was strange. His master must have felt something was off.

"I wondered why master sent me here so suddenly" he barely spoke before Immortal Flame turned his attention to him.

His draconic eyes narrowing.

Yamaru expected the dragon to ask him questions. All he got was silence accompanied by a glare.

Immortal Flame's gaze was so intense that the temperature rose with it.

"An old lizard glares at me" Yamaru sneered.

Immortal Flame regarded him for a moment before he said:

"I did not expect Sin to send ignorant children to do his bidding"

Yamaru's face darkened.

"You are not worthy to call my master by name so freely"

Immortal Flame merely laughed.

"I am free to call him however I want. He is nothing but a scourge to the world"

Yamaru's jaw clenched. His eyes landed on the boy who up until now was still wallowing in agony. He paid closer attention before he noticed a stunning realization. He recognized him.

Not the boy's identity, but the boy's race.

'How did a human get in here? But something is strange about him' he looked towards Immortal Flame and his mind flashed with that disturbance outside. Yamaru did not know if they were related or not but he made a decision.

What ever it was, the boy had to die.
