A few days have passed since then, With Jairo having done mostly light training while his body recovered. It has four days into his second week.
As of right now, he was walking throughout the forest, once again wondering where the hell they would take him this time as Nero, Harken and Maribel were back.
As much as he wished he could enjoy being around them again, He couldn't help but feel like his timer was nearing its end.
Caspien knew about him, if he still acted sick would he be taken to a villiage healer? Then again, the only one was granny.
Luckily, Nero quickly grabbed him by the shoulder, taking him out of his own mind.
"I got some stuff in for you brother. I won't be able to train you for this remaining week. And that may be the last time I see you. So let's get you ready." Nero said with a hint of sadness.
He pulled out a blade that looked to be blueish.
"Where'd you get this from?" He said, needing to get a good look at it as he held it firmly in his grip.
"We got it from that guardian we defeated. I asked around for someone to make a sword out of it and I had a friend who was happy to oblige."
"…I'm not going to be able to repay you for this."
"You can repay me by using it well. It cost a bunch to make."
That was another thing. Wolves in this society usually don't pay with coin. It was more of a trade or a favor that took place of currency.
It seemed the nobility were based on strength, with the most powerful of them being able to have more leverage in almost every scenario.
And their favors carried more weight. Probably.
they traveled to a more tropical area, that was again, bordering their territory and the Kobolds. A battle could very well break out here, but it did not due to the lack of presence by both parties, and the giant insect and lizard creatures that neither wished to deal with.
Just there, they all hid behind one singular tree as harken pointed at a group of twenty giant lizards. They were red and a bit bigger than an average man.
Their tails lashed out on occasion, some being in the trees with others crawling along the ground.
Harken handed him a slingshot that had an orange jewel attached to it, as well as some seeds.
He soon charged up, grabbing a seed before launching things at the monsters himself. Looking at it, he turned to harken who had a bigger smile. "Hey, don't look surprised. We have to help you for our untimely absence."
Jairo aimed the sling, before grabbing a seed and firing it into the enemy. His shot hit a tree that was nowhere near the monsters. They almost seemed insulted, but considering the people around him, that didn't matter much at all.
He attempted another shot that missed.
Meanwhile Nero approached a monster that was barreling upon them, grabbing it by the head, before slamming it against a tree that broke in half.
Its body went limp.
Ariel began speeding, Chopping through the monsters and leaving a dead lizard with every slash, one dead, two and then more to come.
Jairo prepared another shot, and something was observing him from above. It looked down at him from the trees. Jairo meanwhile was lining up to shoot a monster, but his hairs started to raise suddenly. Something was off. As he looked up, he saw one of them, beady eyes staring into his soul as it jumped down.
It's claws tearing through fur and flesh as it collapsed onto him. If this were him at a different point in time, he may have been too injured, or too stunned.
Even now it took him a moment, but as he overcame his fear, blood pumping, his expression went from one of surprise to one of wrath.
He opens his mouth, biting at the monsters face and taking off a part of its shoulder. He spit it to the ground as he was about to reach for another, but something came by, whizzing past, knocking the monster off of him.
As he looked closely at the bodies, it was clear someone had thrown the body of one of the monster into the one he was fighting. they were both lying agains a tree, dead.
He didn't even have to turn around to guess who it was, but the giant howl that erupted from behind him made it crystal clear.
'Nero, what a monster you are.'
As he was watching the rest of his team clean up the beasts, one thing stuck out to him.
as he looked, one of them got up and had began to flee. Jairo looked around and saw the slingshot had had been given on the floor just a foot away.
He quickly crawled over to it and grasped it in his injured palms. And just as quickly he was reaching into his pockets for one of the seeds he was given.
He grabbed it, but it seemed too far away.
He aimed anyway, and just as it. Was getting too far, he had released it. The need traveled past trees, before sailing right through the monsters chest, exploding and riddling its chest with thorns.
Brutal.
Well, that went somewhat decently.
