Chapter 11 - The Second Phase

Morning sunlight spread across the Carter estate once again.

From the outside, everything looked peaceful.

Servants moved through the mansion halls. Gardeners worked quietly outside. Security guards rotated shifts along the estate walls.

But Bruce Carter knew something had already changed.

The night before, he had seen the Black Serpent agents watching the estate.

They had confirmed his location.

Which meant one thing.

The next step would come soon.

Bruce sat quietly at the breakfast table with the rest of the Carter family.

He calmly ate his food while listening to the conversation around him.

Victoria was discussing an upcoming corporate acquisition with Richard.

Isabella was reviewing designs for a new fashion launch.

Scarlett talked about a military training seminar she would attend later in the week.

Sophia was discussing hospital expansion plans.

And Luna…

Luna was watching him again.

Not constantly.

But enough for Bruce to notice.

Her silver eyes occasionally drifted toward him.

Bruce simply continued eating.

Normal movements.

Normal expressions.

Nothing suspicious.

Evelyn suddenly smiled at him.

"You seem energetic today."

Bruce nodded.

"I slept well."

Scarlett smirked.

"That's surprising."

Bruce raised an eyebrow.

"Why?"

Scarlett shrugged.

"Most kids your age complain about school mornings."

Bruce replied calmly.

"I like learning."

Luna laughed softly.

"Now that's suspicious."

Bruce looked at her.

"How so?"

She rested her chin on her hand.

"You've been acting like a small philosopher lately."

Bruce shrugged again.

"Maybe I'm just maturing."

Luna smiled faintly.

But she didn't respond.

After breakfast ended, everyone began leaving the dining room.

Bruce quietly returned to his bedroom.

The moment the door closed behind him, his calm expression changed slightly.

His mind shifted instantly into planning mode.

Bruce sat down and closed his eyes.

His consciousness entered the space world again.

The endless farmland appeared beneath the bright sky.

The glowing river flowed peacefully nearby.

And the ancient castle stood tall in the distance.

Bruce walked straight toward the castle.

This time, he entered the training facility.

The large combat room activated immediately when he stepped inside.

The system screen appeared in front of him.

Training programme available.

Bruce selected a new mode.

Reaction Speed Training.

The moment the program started, small metal spheres appeared in the air around him.

They began moving rapidly.

Bruce focused.

The spheres shot toward him suddenly.

Bruce dodged.

Step.

Turn.

Block.

Another sphere approached from behind.

Bruce twisted his body and avoided it.

The programme gradually increased speed.

The spheres moved faster.

Bruce's breathing became heavier.

His young body still had limits.

But his mind remained calm.

Every movement was precise.

Every reaction is controlled.

Minutes passed.

Then the system stopped.

Training complete.

Reaction speed improved.

Bruce exhaled slowly.

Sweat covered his forehead.

But his eyes remained sharp.

The training facility was working exactly as he hoped.

His body was slowly adapting to combat again.

Bruce walked toward the glowing river and washed his face.

Then he looked toward the castle again.

"There's still more to explore."

But suddenly—

A signal appeared inside his mind.

The surveillance drone.

Bruce focused on the signal.

The drone camera activated automatically.

Through its lens, Bruce saw something alarming.

The black sedan had returned.

But this time…

There were three vehicles.

Parked further away from the estate.

Bruce zoomed in.

Five men stepped out of the cars.

All are wearing dark clothing.

All are moving with professional discipline.

Bruce's expression turned serious.

"Phase two."

Black Serpent had brought reinforcements.

These men weren't just observers.

They were preparing for something bigger.

Bruce studied their movements carefully.

They unpacked the equipment.

Communication devices.

Long-range optics.

Weapons.

Bruce narrowed his eyes.

"They're setting up a surveillance base."

Which meant they were planning a long-term operation.

Bruce crossed his arms.

If they stayed long enough, they might eventually infiltrate the estate.

Bruce could not allow that.

But attacking them directly wasn't an option yet.

He needed more information first.

Bruce activated the drone microphone.

The audio signal became clearer.

One of the men spoke.

"Headquarters confirmed the order."

Another man asked,

"Observation only?"

The first man shook his head.

"For now."

The third man smirked.

"But if the opportunity appears…"

He tapped the rifle leaning beside the car.

"…we remove the target."

Bruce's eyes grew colder.

So their real mission was assassination.

Interesting.

Very interesting.

Bruce turned off the audio feed.

He stood silently in the space world.

His mind was calculating rapidly.

In his previous life, Aron Turner had eliminated countless threats before they could act.

But now things were different.

He had to remain hidden.

Which meant…

Indirect methods.

Bruce suddenly looked toward the system storage list again.

There were many tools available.

Surveillance drones.

Communication disruptors.

Electronic warfare devices.

Bruce smiled slightly.

"I don't need to fight them directly."

He selected a small device from the list.

Signal jammer.

Compact.

Portable.

Powerful enough to block long-range communications.

Bruce activated the device.

The black ring glowed again.

The jammer appeared in his hand.

Bruce examined it carefully.

Then he returned to the real world.

Bruce opened his eyes in his bedroom.

He walked toward the window again.

The signal jammer rested in his hand.

Bruce activated it.

The device hummed softly.

Invisible interference waves spread across the surrounding area.

Far away on the hill, the Black Serpent agents suddenly looked at their equipment.

"What the—?"

One of their communication screens flickered.

Another device lost signal.

"Satellite connection lost."

The leader frowned.

"That shouldn't happen."

Another man tried restarting the system.

"Still no signal."

The leader looked toward the Carter estate suspiciously.

Bruce watched everything through the drone camera.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"Let's see how patient you are."

If their communication systems remained disabled, their operation would become difficult.

Frustration would grow.

Mistakes would appear.

And when enemies made mistakes…

That was when Aron Turner usually struck.
