Chapter 234 - The Silver Scourge

The Titan's Spear was the ultimate expression of weaponry, a true and literal ultimate scourge.

Beyond its Fragmentation Cannons, Nova Cannons, and a vast array of conventional armaments, its true power lay in its Doomsday Weapons.

The Dark Matter Singularity Chain Reaction Device was a super-weapon of apocalyptic proportions, harnessing the volatile properties of dark matter. It consisted of multiple dark matter singularity generators synchronized by a complex chain-reaction control system. These generators were distributed across different sections of the titan-ship; under specific conditions, each could manifest a localized, miniature dark matter singularity.

A dark matter singularity is a peculiar celestial phenomenon, a high-density accumulation of dark matter possessing extreme gravitational pull. Under standard operations, the generators utilized specialized containment fields to restrict the singularity's gravitational reach, preventing the vessel from consuming itself.

When the order to strike is given, the control system disengages these constraints. Massive surges of energy are funneled into the generators, forcing the creation of additional singularities which are then unleashed into the target star system.

Due to the unique interactions inherent to dark matter, these singularities trigger a rapid chain reaction across the system. They attract and merge with one another, forming ever-larger gravitational maws. As their mass increases, their reach expands until the entire star system is ensnared by an inescapable gravitational shroud.

Stars are unraveled. Planets are torn into tectonic shrapnel. All matter is swallowed by the singularities in an accelerating cycle of destruction until the system is compressed into a single, massive dark matter singularity. This void-anomaly might linger as a permanent hazard in the cosmos or, should it reach critical instability, detonate, releasing energy and gravitational waves that devastate surrounding space far beyond the borders of the original system.

In addition to the singularity device, the Titan's Spear was equipped with another pinnacle of forbidden science: the Dimension Collapse Bomb.

The Dimension Collapse Bomb was an ultimate weapon based on a theoretical understanding of space far beyond three-dimensional constraints. Its core housed a miniaturized Dimensional Distortion Engine.

Long before the discovery of the Warp, humanity had expended untold lives and resources researching faster-than-light travel; hyper-dimensional transit was among the most promising avenues. However, after several fleets were lost and entire systems were collapsed by dimensional implosions, this promising branch of technology was ultimately abandoned.

The Dimensional Distortion Engine was the final fruit of that technological tree, and no one could have predicted that it would eventually evolve into a doomsday weapon in the hands of the Iron Men.

The engine was encased in a shell constructed from dark matter and specialized quantum materials, designed to stabilize the bomb during its arming phase and prevent premature ignition.

Upon activation, the engine generates a series of complex energy fields that begin to fray the dimensional fabric of space. Stable three-dimensional reality begins to crack. As energy continues to pour in, these fissures expand, spreading throughout the entire star system.

At the moment of detonation, the bomb triggers a total dimensional collapse across the system. The structure of three-dimensional space folds like a house of cards. Stars, planets, asteroid belts, and every celestial body are dragged into the dimensional catastrophe.

In the wake of the collapse, matter ceases to obey established physical laws; it is twisted and compressed into higher dimensions or rendered down into elementary particles by the chaos of the transition. In a single heartbeat, an entire star system vanishes from the universe, leaving behind nothing but a maelstrom of discordant energy and warped space, a "Dead Zone" where any object that draws near is shredded by residual dimensional instability.

Beyond these engines of ruin, the Titan's Spear served as a gargantuan space-faring city. According to its original blueprints, the vessel was capable of sustaining a population of tens of billions.

Axion, however, had disregarded the original intent.

Vast arrays of factories, warehouses, and supplementary hardware filled the internal voids. If required, the ground forces carried within a single Titan's Spear could saturate the surfaces of several worlds simultaneously, though such a deployment would be a staggering logistical undertaking.

The titan-ship's mass was so immense that its gravitational coefficient rivaled that of a large planet. Consequently, it could not safely approach any star system; its mere presence would disrupt gravitational equilibrium, yanking planets from their orbits. Troop deployment relied entirely on the fleet for ferry operations. This mirrored the behavior of Tyranid Leviathan Hive Ships, which rarely enter the gravity wells of systems, after all, no predator enjoys stones in its meat. It is far more efficient to pick the choice morsels from a distance.

Once the operational status of the Titan's Spear was confirmed, Axion began his final encirclement.

The number of ships required to physically blockade the entire Galactic Core was too vast, so Axion adopted a different logic: simply reduce the number of planets where his quarry could hide.

Without warning, the silver fleet appeared on the periphery of a League system to demonstrate its new arsenal. Utilizing mass drivers, Axion easily launched his first doomsday payload.

A single Dimension Collapse Bomb reduced a star system containing twelve planets, and the tens of billions of Votann dwelling upon them, to elementary particles. Perhaps in tens of millions of years, the cosmic scar left behind would heal and new stars would form, but that was a distant future.

The fleet then set sail for the next League's territory.

In this manner, Axion systematically erased one star system from each of the five major Votann Leagues. The loss was not merely in personnel, but in territory itself. As for the concern that an Ancestor Core might be accidentally destroyed, Axion remained indifferent. Intelligence suggested they were not as rare as once thought. Statistically, the probability of destroying every planet while simultaneously obliterating every Ancestor Core was low.

Furthermore, Axion did not believe these "squats" possessed the fortitude to hold out for long.

This display of cold, mechanical slaughter terrified the Votann.

After completing the first round of bombardment, Axion dispatched messengers to the territory of every League to broadcast a proclamation, accompanied by a formal plan of action.

The terms were simple: The Iron Man fleet would launch an attack every twenty-four hours, completely erasing one star system belonging to each Votann League, until such time as an Ancestor Core was surrendered to his custody.

Faced with this extreme application of force, the Votann descended into genuine panic. Kindred and Leagues that had once called each other brothers gathered in haste, their halls filled with the thunder of desperate arguments.

But while the sub-factions debated and bickered, Axion showed no mercy.

The second round of strikes arrived precisely on schedule.
