Chapter 154: Ice Emperor: I'm Not a Little Kid!
"Hmph, fine then. As long as you keep giving me food like this every day, I'll listen to you for now—but don't you dare make me do anything unreasonable."
The Ice Emperor huffed, clearly both annoyed and tempted.
On one hand, she had been completely won over by the human delicacies.
On the other, she was self‑aware enough to understand her situation.
Now that she was bound to Ye Chen, their fates were intertwined—his gain was her gain, his loss her loss.
In truth, she was at a disadvantage. She had no power in her current state; Ye Chen could do anything to her, and she would be helpless to resist.
Thankfully, he didn't seem like the kind of human who hated soul beasts. He was decent enough, and she didn't think he'd bully her.
"Good, it's settled then~"
Ye Chen smiled and rubbed her tiny head.
"Ugh, don't touch my head! If I stop growing, it's your fault!" Ice Emperor shook her head and glared playfully at him.
Ye Chen chuckled but didn't argue. "By the way, do you know Tianmeng Ice Silkworm?"
"Tianmeng? You know where that fat worm is?!" Ice Emperor suddenly leapt up, eyes sparkling with excitement.
She had spent ages chasing Tianmeng Ice Silkworm back then, but the slippery worm had managed to escape every time.
If she had devoured him, breaking through her four‑hundred‑thousand‑year limit would've been as simple as eating or drinking, and she could've lived another hundred thousand years easily!
Even now, as Ye Chen's soul spirit, absorbing Tianmeng's power would be highly beneficial for his cultivation too.
Since her fate was tied to his, the stronger Ye Chen became, the better it was for her.
"Yeah, Tianmeng became an intelligent soul ring—just like you," Ye Chen nodded.
"What? That worm too?" Ice Emperor's expression froze, surprise flashing through her eyes along with regret.
"After escaping the Extreme North, Tianmeng Ice Silkworm was captured by the ferocious beasts of the Star Dou Forest. Its million‑year foundation was drained dry, leaving only its spiritual core. It was then forced to become a human's intelligent soul ring. If you want, I can take you to see him sometime."
"You two go way back after all. I'm sure he'll be thrilled to see you."
Ye Chen's lips curved slightly as a mischievous glint flickered in his eyes.
"That damned worm! If he'd just let me eat him back then, none of this would've happened. Now he's been snatched up by those beasts of Star Dou Forest—so unfair!" Ice Emperor roared in frustration.
"No swearing. You're supposed to be a cute young lady now. Speak gently."
Ye Chen pinched her cool, soft cheek, shaking his head.
"Cute young lady? I'm tens of thousands of years old! I was around before your ancestors were even born!" Ice Emperor puffed up and glared at him.
Ye Chen said nothing. Instead, he pulled out another ice cream and held it out.
"Ah—"
The Ice Emperor pounced instantly and took a huge bite.
"See? Only little kids eat snacks like these. And you still say you're not one?" Ye Chen teased, shrugging.
"Mmm… I'm not…" she said, cheeks bulging as she stuffed the rest into her mouth, eyes flicking away stubbornly.
"And your height speaks for itself."
Ye Chen gestured beside his waist—exactly where her head reached.
Ice Emperor: …
"Go to hell!!"
She jumped up angrily and punched Ye Chen right in the knee.
...
For the next two days, Ye Chen and Ice Emperor traveled and played around Shrek City before setting off toward the Heavenly Soul Empire.
With his current power—and the Ice Emperor as his soul spirit—Ye Chen could now roam the Ice Fire Yin Yang Well freely.
He had been eyeing that place for a long time. It was overflowing with powerful plant‑type ten‑thousand‑year soul beasts, so he hadn't dared go before.
But now, with strength on his side, it was time to explore that treasure trove of opportunities.
The Ice Fire Yin Yang Well was one of the greatest fortuitous sites in the world. There was no way Ye Chen would miss it.
"Ye Chen, where are we going?"
Flying through the skies in his Soul Guidance aircraft, the Ice Emperor had taken the form of a chibi little girl sitting on his shoulder, her small white legs dangling and swinging lightly.
"To a good place—to seize some fortune," Ye Chen answered with a mysterious smile.
"Fortune? A treasure?!" The Ice Emperor's bright eyes lit up immediately.
She had always loved exploring and finding rare treasures back in the Extreme North.
Unfortunately, her luck had been awful. She'd searched for hundreds of thousands of years and never found the Myriad‑Year Ice Cavern—only for that useless Tianmeng Ice Silkworm to stumble upon it instead.
If she'd found it first, she might have reached the million‑year realm—or even the legendary divine level.
"You'll see when we get there. But it won't be much use to you," Ye Chen said gently.
The Ice Emperor's current state was unique—she couldn't cultivate or grow stronger, only experience the physical world through an entity form.
Anything she ate simply turned into energy and dissipated.
That applied to food—and to rare medicinal herbs as well.
Things like immortal herbs would have no effect on her.
"All right then…"
She pouted slightly, looking disappointed.
"Don't worry. Once I become a god, you'll be able to separate from me and gain your own full body again," Ye Chen said softly. "Until then, you're basically immortal—as long as I live, you live. That's better than dying under heavenly tribulation, right?"
"Yeah, yeah… since I'm already tied to your damned fate, what choice do I have?" she muttered, waving her small hand impatiently.
But inside, her heart felt strangely warm.
After spending these days with Ye Chen, she truly realized he was a good person—kind, considerate, and respectful toward her.
More importantly, he treated her as a companion, not a slave.
He played with her, shared food, made her laugh.
That alone had completely dissolved her old wariness and filled her with genuine affection toward him.
"Oh, right, Ye Chen—this method of turning a soul beast into a soul spirit, can you just use it again whenever you want?" she suddenly asked curiously.
"Of course not. It's not something I can do again so soon," Ye Chen said, shrugging.
It depended entirely on luck. But since he'd done it once, he was confident there would be a second time eventually.
"I see… I was hoping you could get Snow Emperor too. She could keep me company…" Ice Emperor muttered softly, clearly disappointed.
She felt lonely sometimes and wanted to bring Snow Emperor along.
After all, Snow Emperor's seven‑hundred‑thousand‑year tribulation was approaching fast—she probably wouldn't survive it.
But Ye Chen's chances of godhood were high. If Snow Emperor became his soul spirit too, then when Ye Chen ascended, they would both share in his divine grace.
