Chapter 212: The Undying of the Hell Killing Arena
Hu Liena put on the mask without hesitation and followed Luo Ling toward the Hell Killing Arena.
At that moment, a fierce battle was underway.
On the stage, a young man wielding a black hammer struggled to fend off several vicious attackers.
Six people remained in the ring—five of them besieging Tang San.
The moment Hu Liena saw him, she blinked in surprise, and then she understood why Luo Ling had insisted that she wear a mask.
"Xiao Ling, are you afraid Tang San will recognize us?" she asked coolly, her eyes glinting with hostility.
"This is the City of Slaughter. Why not just kill him outright?"
Luo Ling shook his head lightly. "Do you really think Tang San would show up here alone?"
"Tang Hao would never let his son walk into this place without protection."
Luo Ling's eyes flicked briefly toward a nearby rooftop.
Through his perception, he could see countless spirit threads hanging in the air—and among them, one particular pulse he knew well: a trace of his own Soul Seed.
He didn't need to see the man to know; Tang Hao was there, hiding in the dark, protecting his son.
"You mean Tang Hao's in the City of Slaughter too?" Hu Liena said in shock.
"Yes. That's why, when you fight here, never reveal your identity," Luo Ling warned.
While they spoke, the duel onstage reached its conclusion.
Using Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, Tang San narrowly survived the five-on-one assault. Bit by bit, he overcame them and claimed victory.
"Hmph! Lucky bastard. I'll kill him myself one day," Hu Liena muttered, pouting.
Luo Ling simply smiled. After watching for a while, the two quietly left the arena.
…
A year later.
On the stage stood a black-robed figure, ghostlike and silent, holding the corpse of another fallen foe.
Fifty-seven matches. Fifty-seven consecutive victories. That was Luo Ling's record—or rather, the record of his creation: the Raven Phantom Puppet.
Because he could still use spirit skills, Luo Ling never fought personally. He stayed hidden under Ghost Veil and let the puppet, a projection of his own power, fight in his stead.
Not once in a year had he missed a match. Not a single opponent had survived.
But beyond his perfect record, one fact terrified everyone—the Raven Phantom Puppet simply couldn't die. No matter how many grievous wounds it suffered, as long as Luo Ling's spirit power held out, it would always recover.
There were times when the audience watched in horror as the puppet was stabbed through the heart or its head severed—only for it to writhe back to life moments later.
Before long, rumors spread across the Hell Killing Arena: a monster had arrived, a creature that couldn't die.
They called him The Undying.
Soon, no one dared fight him unless forced to. Who would willingly challenge a deathless fiend?
Meanwhile, Hu Liena forged her own reputation. With fifty-five wins, she was known as the Emissary of Hell.
Whenever she fought, Luo Ling's presence could be felt nearby. Unseen threads of black energy protected her, ensuring she never faced danger alone.
Of course, Luo Ling only interfered when she truly needed him—otherwise, there would be no point in her training here.
Together, the Undying and the Emissary of Hell ruled the killing fields.
As for Tang San, after a year, he had only managed forty victories—far behind the original timeline's sixty-seven.
Without awakening the Blue Silver Emperor or reclaiming the Haotian Hammer, his strength was greatly reduced. And with Luo Ling's presence looming over everything, Tang San avoided open conflict whenever possible.
Descending from the arena platform, the black-robed puppet passed through the crowd. People stepped aside instinctively, eyes filled with fear.
A creature that could not die—no one wished to provoke it.
And it wasn't just its immortality. The Undying's swordsmanship alone was devastatingly fierce.
During his twentieth duel, nine opponents had swarmed him at once, exposing his regeneration for the first time. Ever since, every battle had been him against nine challengers—and countless times, he was torn apart, only to rise again, unbroken.
Feeling all those fearful gazes, the Raven Phantom Puppet walked calmly toward Hu Liena.
In the shadows, Luo Ling reviewed the fight in silence.
Over fifty-seven battles, his combat ability had grown immensely. Even though his spirit skills worked in the City of Slaughter, he rarely used them—his victories came through raw technique and manifested weapons forged from dark power.
As the Raven Puppet fused ever more deeply with his Desire Spirit, Luo Ling's abilities evolved.
His third skill, Shadow Scythe, was no longer limited to a single weapon form—it could now transform into multiple shapes of condensed dark energy.
Thus, the Undying's manifested spirit weapon in the arena was a lone black longsword.
After the match ended, Luo Ling and Hu Liena quietly left. Hidden from sight, he activated his Displacement Phantom, switching places with the Raven Puppet.
A moment later, the puppet dissolved into dark mist and rejoined his body.
Hu Liena slipped her arm through his affectionately, recognizing the familiar aura—her Luo Ling had returned.
Her eyes softened. Despite fifty-five battles and countless deaths around her, her gaze remained clear and bright.
Neither she nor Luo Ling were touched by the City's killing aura.
That aura worked by corrupting a fighter's spirit threads—but Luo Ling controlled those very threads himself, rendering its influence useless.
Walking side by side through the bloodstained streets, they paid no mind to the terrified stares of others.
After a few moments, Luo Ling paused suddenly, a flicker of surprise in his eyes.
"What's wrong?" Hu Liena asked softly.
After a year together, she could sense even his faintest shifts in mood.
"Nothing," Luo Ling said with a faint smirk. "I just sensed something… amusing."
Hu Liena rolled her eyes. Since he didn't want to explain, she didn't press him.
Over time, she had learned that Luo Ling carried many secrets—but she didn't need to know them all.
Her heart already belonged entirely to him. As long as she had a place in his, that was enough.
Luo Ling smiled quietly, wrapped his arm around her shoulders, and pulled her close.
