Chapter 163 - Chapter 163: The Might of the Tidecaller Conch

Chapter 163: The Might of the Tidecaller Conch

At first, even Euron Greyjoy found the sound soothing.

But almost immediately, something felt wrong.

This was dawn—on the verge of battle—yet that hollow, distant tone stirred an eerie calm in his chest.

"Wind's picking up!"

Someone shouted, snapping the crew out of their daze.

Only then did they notice it—

the crashing of waves against the hull.

They turned toward the sea.

Wave after wave surged forward, rolling toward their fleet.

Euron's excitement cooled instantly. He frowned, scanning the waters, then glanced up at the thickening clouds above.

Something was off.

He just couldn't pinpoint what.

As the fleet drew closer to Yara Greyjoy, the waves grew more violent. Spray slammed against the bow, drenching the deck. No one could stand at the front anymore, forcing Euron to retreat toward midship.

The fleet's speed dropped by nearly half.

Still watching carefully, Euron finally noticed something that made his eyes narrow—

Yara's fleet wasn't moving.

Not even slightly.

Even if they had dropped anchor, the ships should have been pitching violently in such waves.

But they weren't.

They floated there—steady, unmoved.

His gaze snapped upward.

Dark storm clouds churned overhead…

but only above his fleet.

In the distance, above Yara's ships—

clear skies.

That was when it clicked.

The waves.

The clouds.

All of it… focused on them.

A memory surfaced in his mind—

the Tidecaller Conch.

But that was impossible.

He had searched the Sunset Sea, the Summer Sea, even the Jade Sea near the Shadow Lands. He had ventured into cursed waters and forbidden places.

And yet—

he had never found it.

So how—

how could it be in Yara's hands?!

"AAARGH!!"

Euron roared in fury.

He had thought this battle would wash away the humiliation he suffered at Meereen.

Instead—

he couldn't even reach her fleet.

The waves surged higher.

The ships could barely maintain formation, let alone advance. Less skilled helmsmen were already drifting off course, nearly colliding with nearby vessels.

Euron slammed his head with his palm.

Pain exploded through his skull.

Again.

Still no relief.

He knew what was coming—

another episode.

But Yara was right there.

So close.

And yet untouchable.

How could he accept that?

BOOM!

A heavy crash echoed across the sea.

Euron turned sharply.

Two warships, barely thirty meters away, had slammed into each other. Crewmen were thrown overboard, splashing into the churning water.

His single, bloodshot eye locked onto Yara's fleet.

Rage boiled within him—

but there was nothing he could do.

On Yara's side, her face had turned pale from continuously blowing the conch.

But she didn't stop.

She couldn't.

If she did, everything would collapse.

Another minute passed.

When she saw two more enemy ships collide, she seized a brief moment to breathe. Lifting her hand, she placed two fingers in her mouth—

and let out a sharp whistle.

Beneath the surface, something stirred.

The sea serpent.

At the signal, it twisted its long body and surged forward like a living current, diving straight toward the turbulent waters engulfing Euron's fleet.

On Euron's ships, chaos spread.

The crews of the collided vessels struggled desperately to save themselves, while nearby ships could only watch. Any attempt to help risked further collisions.

"Another one's capsized!"

A shout rang out.

In the distance, a warship tilted violently—then flipped.

Sailors spilled into the sea like scattered grain.

"AHHH!"

One man had just fallen into the water and was struggling toward wreckage—

when a sudden, searing pain shot through his waist.

He looked down.

A massive, gaping maw had clamped onto him—

dragging him straight into darkness.

The sailor struggled with everything he had.

The more he fought, the more it hurt.

With both hands, he tried to pry apart the monstrous jaws clamped around his body—but before he could force them open even a little—

crack.

A sickening sound echoed through him.

All strength vanished instantly.

He lowered his head—

and saw nothing below his waist.

His vision went dark.

The sea serpent had just overturned a ship using the force of the waves when it noticed a man falling into the water.

For a brief moment—

it couldn't resist.

Since leaving the ruins of Valyria, it hadn't tasted flesh like this in a long time.

One bite.

Just to satisfy the craving.

Then it turned and surged toward its next target.

"There's something in the water!"

The shout came from the very spot where the man had been devoured.

The sailor who cried out had witnessed the entire scene—frozen in terror as his companion was swallowed whole. Only after the creature disappeared did he dare to scream.

Others, still struggling to stay afloat, turned toward the sound.

All they saw—

was blood spreading across the surface.

Nothing else.

Their already fragile nerves clung to that small comfort.

Maybe it was just an injury.

Maybe the man had imagined it.

"I saw it! A sea monster—it ate him!" the sailor insisted, voice trembling.

But he hadn't seen the full body of the serpent—only the moment of death.

No one responded.

They simply swam harder, desperate to reach a nearby ship.

One thought filled their minds:

Get back on deck. Survive first.

But the sea did not calm.

As the serpent continued to weave through the depths, more of Euron Greyjoy's ships were overturned.

One after another.

Now even the most hardened sailors felt it—

something was wrong.

And then—

more people began to see it.

A shadow beneath the waves.

Huge.

Moving.

There really was something down there.

No normal storm could flip this many warships so quickly.

But sea monsters were rare.

Extremely rare.

So why—

why here?

Under normal conditions, they might have been able to fight back.

But now?

They could barely keep their ships upright.

Let alone battle something beneath the sea.

Watching ship after ship capsize, sailors thrown into the water like debris—

Euron's expression twisted.

He was nearing his breaking point.

Yara having the tidecaller conch was already unacceptable.

But this?

Controlling a sea monster?

Impossible.

Even he had only barely managed such feats in the past.

Why would such a creature obey her?

"Sea monster incoming!"

A panicked shout cut through the chaos.

Euron rushed to the railing and looked down.

A massive shadow was surging straight toward his ship.

"Spears! Throw the spears—now!"

He barked the order and grabbed one himself.

"Release!"

The moment the creature neared the hull, spears were hurled downward in a volley.

Euron's own spear followed—

cutting through the air.

But at that exact moment—

the sea serpent twisted its body and dove deeper.

It was aiming for the keel.

To flip the ship from below.

The spears struck nothing but water.

Even those that grazed the creature barely penetrated its thick hide.

"Damn it!"

Euron roared in fury, nearly foaming at the mouth.

Beside him, a sailor turned pale and quickly backed away, afraid he might be the next thing Euron lashed out at.

The sea raged on.

And beneath it—

something far worse was hunting.
