My phone rang, waking me up. The sound was sharp, cutting through the comfortable fog of sleep. I stretched my arms, trying to reach for it on the nightstand. My fingers fumbled blindly.
Who was it? Who was calling me so early in the morning? The sun was barely up, the light outside still soft and gray.
"It's Soren. Do you want to answer it?" Kastiel asked. His voice was groggy, thick with sleep. He was still half-buried in the pillow, his arm draped loosely over my waist.
I was a bit surprised, and then I realized that last night, I and Kastiel had settled the issue we had. The fight was over. The tension was gone. He had fallen asleep almost immediately after we talked, like the weight of the world had finally been lifted off his shoulders.
