The Poké Ball opened, and a dazzling silver-white light shot into the sky.
Along with a hollow cry filled with endless fury, a massive silver-white figure appeared in the heavens.
Its streamlined body, broad wings, and blue markings across its abdomen radiated a mysterious glow.
The god of the sea, Lugia, had descended.
The instant it appeared, the surrounding air seemed to freeze.
The dense barrage aimed at Pryce slowed dramatically the moment it entered the divine aura naturally emanating from Lugia, as if sinking into a swamp. Then the attacks were twisted, deflected, and even shattered apart midair by an invisible force.
"Lu... Lugia? How does he have Lugia?", Chakra nearly slipped out of his chair in fright.
"It's that legend... the sea god of the Whirl Islands in Johto... the god that was once wounded by the flying battleship," Sird's voice trembled.
Orm's face turned ashen. He finally understood where Pryce's confidence came from. This wasn't even a battle on the same level.
Lugia's icy eyes locked firmly onto the flying battleship below.
It remembered this steel creation. It remembered the pain and injuries caused by the strange cosmic-energy attacks launched from it.
Old grudges and new hatred instantly ignited the wrath of the god!
Without needing much instruction from Pryce, Lugia violently spread its wings.
Aeroblast!
Under Lugia's control, terrifying air currents slammed into the already unstable barrier around the flying battleship like massive war hammers.
Crack!
The barrier shattered completely like glass.
Immediately after, Lugia opened its mouth. A terrifying energy rapidly gathered, forming a blazing sphere of light too bright to look at directly.
In the eyes of the Three Beasts, this attack was no different from divine judgment.
"No! Activate the final protocol! Pour all Cosmic Virus energy into the engines, overload everything! We have to break out!", Orm roared desperately, making one last attempt.
The engines at the rear of the battleship erupted with ominous dark-purple light, trying to make a final burst of acceleration to escape.
But it was too late.
Lugia's Aeroblast had already been fired.
A gigantic silver-white torrent of energy carrying the force to destroy everything struck the battleship's engines with perfect accuracy.
The dark-red Cosmic Virus energy melted away and vanished like snow under sunlight before the absolute power of the legendary Pokémon.
BOOM!
A deafening explosion rang out. The rear section of the flying battleship was completely crippled, spewing black smoke and sparks. The entire vessel lost power and began tilting downward as it fell.
"Mamoswine, Delibird, final strike, Sheer Cold!", Pryce's voice sounded like the final judgment.
Mamoswine and Delibird gathered the last and strongest Ice-type energy in their bodies.
Two dark-blue rays of freezing light that seemed capable of freezing time itself shot forward and precisely struck the falling battleship.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
The grating sound of rapid freezing echoed out. Starting from the engines, icy white spread through every corner and every inch of steel across the massive flying battleship.
In only a few breaths, this warship that had once harbored ambitions great enough to rival legendary Pokémon, together with the Three Beasts inside it, was completely sealed within an unimaginably massive, crystal-clear eternal iceberg.
Looking at the iceberg before him, which resembled a work of art, Pryce smiled and nodded.
"Lugia, as promised, help me drag them back to the Indigo Plateau."
"And then... you'll be free!"
"What? Pryce rode Lugia straight to the Indigo Plateau?"
"And Lugia was dragging Team Rocket's final secret weapon, along with all the Team Rocket members from the Sevii Islands, and handed them over to Lorelei?"
Hearing the report from the staff member through Rotom, Lance's eyes were filled with shock.
What had he ever done to deserve being the Champion of Kanto?
And for so many years at that.
"I'm heading back right now to deal with Team Rocket. Tell Lorelei to find a way to melt the ice first."
"And immediately release an announcement saying Karen redeemed herself through meritorious service. Don't mention Pryce in the announcement yet. Let's see how he reacts afterward."
After hanging up, Lance glanced at Blaine with a conflicted expression. This guy couldn't possibly be as monstrous as Pryce too, right?
But none of that had anything to do with him anymore.
What came next either involved professional matters concerning Deoxys, or issues related to Mewtwo.
Either way, Axel was more suitable to handle it.
"Mr. Axel, I'll leave the people on Mewtwo Island to you. I need to head back first and deal with the Three Beasts. Their actions around the Sevii Islands have always been extreme."
"Alright," Axel lightly waved at Lance's departing figure before turning to Blaine.
"Gym Leader Blaine, I'll have to trouble you to continue researching Deoxys and see whether they'll revive. I'm going to check on Mewtwo."
Blaine nodded, "Understood, Mr. Axel. But please be careful. Ever since Mewtwo was created, it's always liked asking people what the meaning of its existence is."
"If the answer doesn't satisfy it, it may attack with psychic powers."
Axel didn't care, "It's fine. I have another Mewtwo here. They should have plenty to talk about."
Team Rocket's Mewtwo was locked inside a massive glass container connected to countless electronic components and thick metal pipes.
Those things covered Mewtwo like armor. While suppressing its thoughts, they also granted it tremendous combat power.
"Mewtwo, you should do it," Axel knew Mewtwo had wanted to save her own kind for a long time, so he simply let her take the final step.
Mewtwo looked at the one imprisoned inside the container. A trace of azure light flashed through her eyes, and the reinforced glass instantly shattered.
Inside the container, the armored Mewtwo's eyes lit up as it spoke in a domineering voice: "Who has awakened me... What is the meaning of my existence... Answer me!"
Mewtwo glanced at the armored Mewtwo, "Your purpose is to protect world peace."
"No... My purpose is destruction... battle... wiping out this filthy world... Don't think you can brainwash me!"
Mewtwo looked at the armored Mewtwo like she was looking at an idiot. A giant spoon as tall as her body appeared in her hand without warning as she turned toward Axel.
"This guy's mind still hasn't fully developed yet. How about you step outside for a bit while I teach him how to be a Mewtwo?"
Axel's mouth twitched, "Uh... go easy on him. We spent a long time dealing with this. Don't beat him half to death before you even get the chance to catch up properly."
"Relax. I know what I'm doing."
The armored Mewtwo looked at Axel and Mewtwo with disdain, "Hmph... trying to let this human escape first? But it doesn't matter... once I defeat you, I'll naturally conquer this—AH!"
"Who are you? Go easy on me!"
The armored Mewtwo's screams continuously rang out, growing weaker and softer.
"No, something's wrong! I'm supposed to be invincible! Why is fighting you so difficult? Stop pulling my tail!"
"Fine, fine! I'll watch cartoons already, okay?"
Mewtwo's voice remained cold, "What kind of attitude is that? Say thank you to your big sister!"
"Thank you! Thank you!"
