I myself have a minor background in robotics. Back in middle school I received an offer to join the school's toy robotics club after I had solved a problem they were having off handedly.
The club was one that would compete against other schools in the region all the way up to a national level.
One day after school I was hanging out in the science room, I don't remember why, but they were having a problem getting the toy robot to move how they wanted it to.
I just remember standing there with my hands in my pockets and saying something casually. Next thing I know the club and the adviser were offering me a spot on their team.
At the time I thought the club was cringey and only for geeks. Now, I regret that decision a little. My life would be very different if I had taken them up on the offer. It now sounds like a lot of fun.
But, now, I am 26. I have different priorities and vengeances I have to fulfill.
A shame.
