"This tale takes place 40 years ago, I was only 5 but I still remember the chaos.
Back then there were two main families or clans, they were on friendly terms with one another. They even planned to have their two children get married.
But one day the girl of the Shinju family was attacked. I'm sure you can imagine what I mean.
Anyway, she never said who did it, she was too traumatized to speak, but everyone knew it had to be the Donyoku family's heir. The town is small, there are only so many people it could have been.
That led to accusations, which led to fights. In one of those fights someone from the Donyoku family died.
The Shinju family claimed that they attacked their own person to implicate them.
The police at the time couldn't do anything, it was a mad brawl, and they couldn't arrest everyone. Plus, I'm sure they were being paid off by both families.
That one death started a chain of events. The Donyoku family killed one of the Shinju family members, and from there it was war.
People were sneaking around trying to kill the other, robbing what they could.
It all came to a head when one night the Donyoku family raided the house of the Shinju family.
The Donyoku family set fires to shops and started a massacre of the Shinju family. But, the Shinju family didn't take it lying down. They fought back.
I can still remember the dark night, the sky covered by clouds lit up by the fires. The screams echoing from all parts of the town as bodies laid around and blood covered everything, painting it a deep red.
I don't know if the Shinju family saw it coming, but the main family had left, gone to Sendai to get help from the bigger government.
Lucky for them they did, because when the incident happened. The government stepped in, they cracked down on what remained of the Donyoku family.
The head of the Donyoku family was arrested and went to prison. The family was then taken over by the young heir. The Donyoku family had to pay a certain amount in damages.
As for the Shinju family, the head of that family was also arrested but he was let out shortly later.
For the Donyoku family's payment they didn't have enough cash at the time so they had to give up shares in some businesses on top of the cash that they had.
One of the businesses that they gave up was that inn. The problem was that the Shinju family wanted nothing to do with the Donyoku family. So, they removed all their business from the area and sold them to other families.
Which is why we have a main rich family, and then a few other wealthy families, but they don't compare to the Donyoku family.
I heard that they kept the shares in the businesses that the Donyoku family owned because that way the Donyoku family would always have to pay the Shinju family.
As for that inn it was never sold because it was because at that time no one wanted to come here. It was a land of death. So there simply wasn't a market to sell the inn.
So over time it has just degraded. There used to be an old man who would go and take care of the grounds but he passed away a few years ago.
He actually built it and hated to see it fall into ruin."
"I see. That's a crazy story. So, is that the only reason that the inn hasn't been sold. Nothing like a ghost or anything right?"
"Haha, no nothing like that. It was actually just built when the incident happened. Back in 1985, so it would have working plumbing and electrical. I guess it would need some updating though. Why? Are you thinking about buying it?"
"Hmm? Maybe? Do you have a way to contact the Shinju family?"
"As it would happen I do. I'm friends with the girl from the story on InstaPics. I can send her a message."
"Oh, cool. Yeah, I would love to buy it. Make sure to tell her that I'm not on good terms with the Donyoku family."
"Sure, sure. Do you have an InstaPics I could send her?"
"Yeah I do it is…"
"Ok, I've sent it. I'll leave you to eat your cake now."
"Oh, right. Thank you."
I sat and ate my cake while waiting for a message. Half an hour later I got one. I received a message from a woman named Shinju.
She asked, "I got a message from my friend saying that you are interested in buying that old inn next to her?"
"That's right. I am opening a factory nearby and the rich families are not making things easy. Which means that I will be stuck here for a few months. I need a project to work on and I would like that project to be the old inn."
"I see. That does sound like something they would do. I don't have a problem with selling the property to you. But you have to promise to ban anyone from the Donyoku family and not sell to them or let the property end up in their hands. Also don't level the forest, my friend likes it."
"Not a problem. I was planning to do all of that anyway."
"Great. Then my property manager and attorney will be in contact."
"Alright. Thank you."
I gave her my phone number to contact me.
About an hour later I was working on another piece of cake when I got a message from the property manager telling me the price. Which was a bit steep for what it was, but the potential made it worth it.
Once I agreed with the price the attorney emailed me an electric contract. It was a basic land and property contract.
I gave my electronic signature and wired the money.
Just like that I was now $250,000 lighter and in possession of a property in Yamato.
