The day was coming to a close as we left my grandparents house. We made our way to the car and left after saying our goodbyes.
The car ride home was a quiet one with hushed conversations. It wasn't as upbeat and humorous as the car ride there.
When we got home Erik got into his car and left. While we went inside and got ready to go to sleep.
…
The next morning we got up at 6:00. We were up early, but clearly not early enough. Because mom was already up and getting ready.
She was preparing to go sign the contract and prepare for her trip abroad.
I told her that she could just sign the contract on her computer with a virtual signature, but she insisted on going in person.
Plus she would be able to get her card right then and there. Having more than a million dollars in an account really does grant you some benefits.
I asked mom, if when she was going out, if she could drop us off at the warehouse. She readily agreed.
Layla and I got ready quickly and prepared to leave when mom was ready.
Once she was ready we left.
…
When we got to the warehouse Layla was eager to start working on the new car and I wasn't going to get in her way so I ordered a taxi service to pick me up.
It was time I got my own car, so I was going to the car sale street.
Car sale street was a road with car dealerships lining the road.
I then spent the next few hours walking into every car dealership on this road. Looking at all of the car options.
I had decided on two cars.
One car I could drive away in today, the other was a used car that would need the title changed before I could pick it up.
The first car I decided on was a common, high reliability, high gas mileage car. It was the Toyama Cancry 2026 model.
I wanted a car that most people would drive that also had high miles per gallon. So when we made new parts we could test them with a solid performing car.
The other car was the exact opposite, it was a sports car that was designed to go fast while burning fuel.
I really wanted polarizing options for the test to see if we could make either car faster or more efficient.
The car I decided on was a McLoud 650S, a 2015 model. It may be a decade old but it still fits the needs I currently have.
Which was a fast car with low miles per gallon.
The Cancry was a solid car that featured a powertrain as a hybrid exclusive lineup with a 2.5L 4 cylinder engine and a 5th gen hybrid system. Features a 12.3 inch screen on higher trims, wireless bluetooth audio, and available AWD.
The performance as front wheel drive models provide up to 51 combined MPG, with power outputs of 225 HP (FWD) or 232 HP (AWD). Pricing starts at approximately $29,000.
I managed to get mine for $25,000 because I paid in cash.
The Mcloud was a fast car featuring a 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 engine producing 641 bhp (650 PS) and 500 lb-ft of torque. It achieves 0 to 60 mph in roughly 3 seconds, with a top speed of 207 mph. The rated fuel economy is 18 MPG.
The price was $110,000 but I managed to talk them down to a flat $100,000. Offering an immediate cash purchase is a cheat code for a deal.
The Cancry was silver and the McLoud was black.
Once the Cancry was ready for me I drove it off the lot with its paper tag flapping in the wind.
While driving I realized that I could gain experience for the car.
…
When I got back to the warehouse Layla was busy working on the StingRay, which was already missing a few panel pieces.
I came in and asked, "Hey, how's it going?"
"Not great. There is a lot more work to do here than the last. We are going to have to order a few parts because the rust has just ruined them."
"Or we could wait like a week or two and make them ourselves."
"Yeah, I guess so. But this car has spent way too much time rusting. The entire inside needs to be redone as well. This is going to take noticeably longer than the last car."
"But, that's ok. I got a present that you can use."
"What is it?"
"It's outside."
We walked outside, Layla saw the car and said, "You got a Cancry?"
"Yeah. I got it as a test car for the parts you make. This is a high fuel efficiency car, so you have to try and make parts to increase its efficiency. It currently gets 51 miles per gallon as a combined rate. For both city and highway rates."
"Wow, it really gets 51 MPG?"
"Yeah, it's crazy. I also got another car, a bit of a speedster with poor fuel efficiency. Try to do the same with that one. Or make it go faster, whatever you want.
However, I will first use AI to upgrade it as much as possible with an automated system. Which requires a ton of data so I will be driving the cars for a few days first and getting the parts switched out. So, good luck with trying to beat my AI."
"Is that a challenge? You're on! Once I hit a dead end with this car and am only waiting on parts to be delivered, I'll smoke those glorified space heaters."
"They do put off some heat, I'm going to go drive around for a while."
"Ok, drive carefully."
"Yep."
With that I got into the car, cranked the radio, and pulled out onto the old country roads for a scenic drive.
