Chapter 229 - The Council

Near the island protected by the Elven Saint...

The dragon assigned to that region soared high through the sky, sweeping the heavens with his sharp eyes as he watched every corner of the area, ready to eliminate any intruder who dared approach.

He flew calmly and steadily.

Suddenly...

He spotted an elven spirit creature racing toward him.

The dragon stopped in midair and waited for the messenger to arrive.

As soon as the spirit creature reached him...

It presented the message sent by the elves.

The dragon read its contents.

Then he frowned slightly.

Speaking in a low voice, he said,

"So one of the demons' Supreme Powers has already made its move?"

He remained silent for a few moments.

Then he closed the message and said,

"I'll go and see for myself."

Deep down, however...

He mocked the elves.

Their weakness had become obvious.

The war had not even reached its peak...

Yet they had already begun asking the dragons for help.

The dragon shook his head in annoyance.

Then he spread his enormous wings...

And shot toward the island mentioned in the report at incredible speed, determined to discover the truth with his own eyes.

Meanwhile...

In Asgard...

Thor had gathered all the Rulers who remained within the kingdom.

Present at the meeting were:

Volund, the Ruler of Weapons.

Heimdall, the Guardian of Asgard.

Sol, the Ruler of the Sun.

Ull, the Ruler of Winter.

Nótt, the Ruler of Night.

Eir, the Ruler of Healing.

Rán, the Ruler of Rivers.

And Jörð, the Ruler of Earth.

These were the new generation of Rulers responsible for protecting Asgard during the absence of Odin, his brothers, and the elder Rulers.

Thor stood before them all.

Then he spoke calmly,

"The Three Seers have warned me that a great danger is gradually approaching Asgard."

Everyone turned their attention toward him.

As for Sol...

He and Volund were doing everything they could to hide their faces.

After the severe beating Thor had given them for spreading rumors...

Their faces had swollen so badly that they resembled wild boars.

Sol cleared his throat awkwardly.

Trying not to provoke Thor's anger again, he asked,

"So..."

"What is this danger approaching Asgard?"

Thor looked at him with a mixture of annoyance and lingering anger.

Then he answered,

"A dragon."

Silence filled the room.

Before anyone could interrupt, Thor continued,

"And not just any dragon."

"He is of the Dragon King's bloodline."

"He is his son."

The moment he finished speaking...

Jörð, the Ruler of Earth, asked,

"Then why don't we simply attack him and drive him away from Asgard?"

Thor shook his head.

"No."

"That would damage Asgard's reputation."

"Everyone would think we attack anyone who comes near us without reason."

"And if we fail to eliminate him..."

"The other races will stop respecting our strength."

"It would only encourage more of them to come to Asgard to uncover its secrets... or challenge us."

Jörð fell silent for a moment.

Then, after thinking it over, she said,

"Then..."

"Let's intercept him in the middle of the ocean."

"As far as we know, he hasn't reached Asgard yet."

"So instead of waiting for him to come to us..."

"We should go to him."

The moment she finished her suggestion...

Thor's eyes widened.

"Yes!"

"You're right."

"How did I not think of that?"

Rán, the Ruler of Rivers and Jörð's sister, smiled gently before saying,

"Because planning and trickery have never been your strengths, Thor."

"All you ever think about is fighting and war."

Thor opened his mouth to protest...

But before he could say a single word...

Heimdall's expression suddenly changed.

With the eyes that watched over the horizons...

He had noticed something unusual approaching Asgard.

He immediately stood.

Then, in a serious voice, he declared,

"Someone is approaching Asgard."

The instant he spoke...

He rushed out of the council hall.

Thor and the other Rulers followed him without hesitation.

Within moments...

They all reached the shores of Asgard.

Then they raised their eyes toward the sky.

There...

They saw a strange-looking raven flying toward the kingdom.

Clutched within its talons...

Was the unconscious body of a small creature that resembled a mermaid.

And in its beak...

It carried several strange objects radiating powerful and distinctive auras.

Volund stared at those objects for several seconds.

Then his eyes suddenly widened.

He shouted at the top of his lungs,

"Wait!"

"This isn't an attack!"

Pointing excitedly at what the raven was carrying, he exclaimed,

"Those are treasures!"

"Odin sent them!"

"I'm certain of it!"
