Dozens of monsters from various species—wearing adventurer gear and weapons—roared as they swarmed the Aberrant Amphisbaena. Astraea stared in disbelief. Monsters were helping them? And they were speaking the human tongue! To the surface world, this was an impossibility that shattered every known logic.
Roy was also stunned; this was an auxiliary force he hadn't anticipated.
"It's him!"
The Xenos leaders—Lyd, Ray, and Gros—spotted Roy and looked equally shocked. Though Marie had been the first to contact Roy, the leaders already knew him. Back when Roy and Ryu fought the Rudra Familia in a War Game inside the Dungeon, the Xenos had watched from the shadows. That boy had wiped out a hundred people with a casual grace that earned their deepest respect. More importantly, the Rudra Familia were the bastards who hunted and captured their kin; in their eyes, Roy had essentially avenged them.
The moment they heard the human who saved Marie was in danger, the Xenos had charged up from the lower floors. And look who it was! With their sense of loyalty ignited, they attacked the Amphisbaena with suicidal fervor.
"Roy!" A voice like a beautiful song called out as a graceful silhouette swam through the water. It was Marie, the mermaid. Since the collapse started at the 27th floor, she had been able to swim down. Seeing Roy on the brink of death, she wept, bit her wrist, and pressed the wound to his lips. Roy instinctively drank.
The ultimate healing material—Mermaid's Blood—flowed down his throat. Its restorative power was a grade above an Elixir. Astraea watched this, her mind racing. Connecting this to Roy's earlier conversation with Dix, she finally realized why he had clashed with the Ikelos Familia.
The potent healing of the blood surged through Roy. He regained the ability to move and slowly stood up. He patted Marie's head. There was no time for talk. "Give me thirty seconds!"
Lyd, Ray, and Gros looked at him in surprise. He still wanted to fight? Lyd shouted back first, "You got it!" Ray responded with a melody as beautiful as a siren's song, and even Gros, who usually hated humans, nodded firmly. This human was worth the effort.
The three—a Lizardman, a Siren, and a Gargoyle—were all Level 5-tier Xenos. Ray and Gros took to the air for harassment, while Lyd fought on the ground. Lyd lunged and slashed a head prepping acid, redirection the spray into a stone pillar that dissolved with a hiss.
However, the nine-headed dragon's strength was overwhelming! It slammed into Lyd, sending him flying. Another head locked onto him, its maw glowing with blue fire.
"NO!" Gros roared, diving recklessly to slash at the creature's neck. Claws met scales in a shower of sparks, drawing foul dragon blood. The beast faltered from the pain. Unlike adventurers, Xenos had no Falna or skills, but they were true monsters with physical stats far beyond humans. Gros, as a dragon-kin, could break through the defense.
But that opening left Gros exposed to the frost head! A lethal cold gathered in its throat, the shadow of death looming over him.
"Over here!" A clear, sharp cry drew the frost head's attention. It was Astraea. The beast's target had always been the deity; the others were just "ants" in its way. Hearing her voice, it immediately redirected the frost breath. At the critical moment, Ray swept down and scooped Astraea into the air.
"Saved by a monster... what a strange feeling," Astraea mused. On one side was a beast meant to kill her; on the other, monsters with hearts of gold.
While the Xenos stalled the beast, Roy was prepping his final move. He was exhausted. Even with the mermaid's blood, this was a temporary second wind. His chest heaved, his vision blurred. Every second felt like wading through thick glue. He didn't even have the energy to think about how tired he was.
But then, fury filled every corner of his mind. The duel, the Spirit Soldier, being swallowed, the near-return of Astraea, being surrounded... and finally, this aberrant beast. All that frustration became the fuel for his ultimate skill!
Blood-red energy erupted from Roy's body, coiling around him like a demonic god rising from hell. BOOM! The water at his feet exploded as the ground sank beneath him. The terrifying aura caught everyone's attention.
"What is that?" Lyd and the others felt a mortal danger radiating from Roy.
Roy moved. With a cold, resolute light in his eyes, he stepped forward, charging the nine-headed dragon. Lyd roared, "Cover him!" The Xenos threw themselves at the Amphisbaena, many suffering heavy wounds to buy him a path.
Roy reached the beast. In front of everyone, he gripped the Spirit Holy Sword with both hands. The blood-red energy poured into the blade like burning lava! The steel shrieked and glowed with a blinding light. He didn't use any other buffs—he knew this single strike would bridge the gap between Levels.
"Go!" Astraea whispered, clutching her hands. She knew this skill better than anyone: the limitless vengeance!
Blood for Blood • Tenfold Return!
Every bit of damage Roy had taken until now was concentrated into this strike. Under the weight of his fury, the power kept scaling until it hit the tenfold mark. Squelch! Roy swung with everything he had. A massive crimson blade-arc tore through the air, swallowing the dragon.
Time froze for a heartbeat. Then, nine heads shrieked in a soul-shattering chorus of agony! The massive body disintegrated into ash under the red light. RUMBLE!! The blade-arc didn't stop, tearing a thousand-meter fissure into the earth and sending mud and debris flying fifty meters into the air.
"Retreat! Fall back!" The Xenos scrambled to safety. They were stunned beyond words. A single strike had one-shotted a Level 6 Aberrant Floor Boss! This power was undeniably at the "Strongest" Level 7 tier.
Can a Level 3 really do this? the Xenos screamed internally. If adventurers like this exist, what hope is there for monsters?
