Chapter 40: ROAD TRIP!!!

The morning light filtered through the bar's tall windows as Varion found Prinz behind the counter, wiping down glasses with slow, deliberate strokes. She had changed since last night — the revealing black outfit swapped for a fitted black turtleneck that hugged her figure, a delicate gold cross necklace resting just above the swell of her chest, and her long white hair tied into loose pigtails with red ribbons. The red streak still framed her face like a bold signature. When she looked up and saw him, her golden eyes brightened instantly.

"You really came back," she said, setting the glass aside and stepping around the counter to meet him. Her voice carried that same teasing lilt, but there was a softer note beneath it now.

Varion nodded, leaning against the polished wood. "I don't make promises I don't keep. That fortune last night… It gave me a lot to think about. I'm planning to ask Rimuri if I can travel with her group for a while. I need to see more of this world, learn how things work here. The crystal ball confirmed I will get back to my world but it also showed that there are new things here as well."

Prinz's fingers paused on the edge of the counter. She studied him for a long moment, then stepped closer, close enough that the faint scent of cherries and warm spice reached him again. "You're really going to leave with them?"

"I am," he confirmed. "It feels like the right next step."

She bit her lower lip, then smiled — not the full teasing grin this time, but something smaller, more genuine. "Then I want to come with you."

Varion's eyebrows rose in genuine surprise. "You… what?"

Prinz reached out and caught his hand, lacing her gloved fingers through his without hesitation. "The crystal didn't lie. Fate here isn't some vague story here like it might be in your original world— here it's real, it's active, and it just showed us standing together. I've spent years moving around, playing games, teasing whoever caught my eye and keeping everything light. But the moment that orb lit up with you in it… something clicked. I don't want to wait around wondering what if and regret it later. I want to get to know you properly, Varion. If we're meant to be part of each other's lives, why put it off?"

He searched her face, the surprise still lingering in his expression, but the warmth in her golden eyes was unmistakable. After a beat he gave a slow nod, the corner of his mouth curving into a small smile. "I have no problem getting to know you either, Prinz. I'd be glad to have you along."

Her cheeks flushed a soft pink, ears twitching with delight. She squeezed his hand once, then rose on her toes and pressed a quick, warm peck to his cheek. " I'll go pack and let the others know" she whispered, breath brushing his skin before she pulled back with a playful wink.

Varion chuckled softly, the flush on his own face faint but present.

They stepped outside together a short while later, Prinz now carrying a small travel pack slung over her shoulder. The group was already gathered at the city gates — Rimuri bouncing excitedly beside Kaijin and his brothers, all of them officially banished and ready to start fresh.

Varion caught Rimuri's attention as they approached, lowering his voice so only she could hear. "I'm coming with you. There's something I sensed inside you the first time we met — a presence, sealed and powerful. It feels… very similar to my father's. I'd like to learn more about it, if you're willing."

Rimuri's core rippled with surprise, but she didn't pull away. "You can feel that? …Alright I don't mind. We'll talk on the road."

Prinz slipped her hand into Varion's again, giving it a light squeeze as the group started down the forest path. The banished dwarves laughed among themselves, Rimuri already sketching out plans for the village ahead.

The group had been riding the tempest wolves for several hours when Rimuri called for a short break near a quiet stream. The dwarves dropped their packs and began arguing good-naturedly over who would start the fire, while Prinz wandered a little ways off to stretch her legs. Varion noticed Rimuri lingering by the water's edge, her small blue body reflecting the sunlight in soft ripples.

He walked over and crouched beside her. "Are you free to talk about the sealed presence i felt inside you now?"

Rimuri jiggled once, almost shyly. "Yeah…we can, it's only fair. You already sensed it, and you said it reminded you of your father." She paused, then continued in a quieter voice. "His name is Veldora. He's a True Dragon — the Storm Dragon. He got sealed away a long time ago, and I kind of… ended up with him inside me after a weird series of events. He's my friend now. We talk sometimes."

Varion's eyes widened slightly as the pieces clicked. "A True Dragon… that explains the feeling. All True Dragons are connected to dad; he said they were his siblings in a way. If Veldora is one of them, that's why his magicules felt familiar — like an echo of the same power my father gave me."

Rimuri's brightened with surprise. "Wow, that's cool I didn't know Veldora had siblings. I knew Veldora was a True Dragon." She gave a small, playful bounce. "Guess we're both still figuring out how big this world really is, huh?"

Varion smiled, the expression warm. He reached out and gently tapped the top of her slime body with one finger, the way someone might ruffle a friend's hair. "Looks like it. Thanks for trusting me with that, Rimuri. If you ever want to talk about him more I'm here."

Rimuri jiggled happily, a soft laugh escaping her. "Oh by the way i should probably tell you im from another world just like you"

"Wait really i didnt know there were others out there but then again i am pretty new here" varion said surprised.

They sat together by the stream talking about their worlds and differences for a few more minutes, the easy silence comfortable between them. In the distance Prinz glanced their way, a small, knowing smile on her lips before she turned back to the group.

-later-

The goblin village came into view through the trees as the group crested the last rise. Huts of woven branches and mud dotted the clearing, smoke curling lazily from fires. Five hundred new faces turned toward them at once — goblins from scattered tribes who had heard rumors of a powerful being offering protection. Their eyes were wide with hope and a touch of fear.

Rimuri jiggled forward, her small blue form glowing with quiet determination. "Welcome," she said happily. Great Sage's calm voice echoed in her mind, warning of the stronger monsters now stirring in the forest — ogres, orcs, lizardmen. She didn't hesitate. One by one she named them. The effort drained her fast. By the time the last goblin bowed, Rimuri flickered and she slipped into low-activity mode.

Kaijin clapped his hands. "Right, then. Let's get to work while she rests."

The dwarves wasted no time. Kaijin showed the goblins how to shape proper tools and weapons. Garm taught them to stitch sturdy clothing. Dord guided basic craftsmanship, and Myrd began sketching simple buildings. The village buzzed with new energy as hammers rang and looms clicked.

Varion and Prinz pitched in as well. Varion moved among the groups offering help wherever he was needed and went hunting with them to take on the bigger monsters due to nothing in the forest being able to really threaten him. Prinz drifted between clusters of goblins with effortless grace, organizing tasks, showing them how to work together without ever raising her voice. The goblins listened to her as if she had been born to lead. She simply made things run smoother like it was completely natural to her.

By the third day the village already looked different — sturdier walls, better-organized, and the first frames of new houses rising. Gobta had returned on his own, riding his Tempest Wolf and sharing wild stories of Dwargon. Rigurd stood taller than ever, now officially named Goblin King with the former chiefs of the absorbed villages as his Goblin Lords.

Varion found Prinz near the edge of the clearing that afternoon, watching the goblins work with a small smile. The magicule high that had buzzed through him since his arrival had finally faded, leaving him clear-headed and steady.

"Prinz," he said, stepping up beside her. "Want to get away for a bit? Just you and me. A date — nothing fancy. There's a hill not far from here."

Her golden eyes lit up instantly. "Yes," she answered without hesitation, slipping her hand into his. "Lead the way."

They walked hand-in-hand through the trees until the village sounds faded behind them. The hill rose gently, grass soft underfoot and wildflowers dotting the slope. A pair of young goblins had spotted them leaving and insisted on packing a small meal — fresh bread, roasted meat, fruit, and some water Prinz laughed softly as she spread the cloth and set everything out.

They sat side by side, the afternoon sun warm on their skin. For a while they simply ate and watched the clouds drift.

"So what's your home like?" asked Prinz

" Well, I live in a city called Magnolia. It's loud, colorful, full of life it also hosts the magic guild Fairy Tail. which im a part of the guild it is like a giant family their all a special brand of crazy theirs never a dull moment. But there's one saying that I feel sets the tone for the guild perfectly, "Do fairies really have tails? Do they even exist? Like them, this place as an eternal mystery... A never-ending adventure!" master makarov said that once and its stuck with me ever since" varion said with a bright smile

Prinz listened, head tilted, chewing a piece of fruit. "It sounds wonderful."

"It is." He hesitated, then got serious. "There are also the girls. Erza, Mira, Lucy, Brandish, Ultear. We're… together. All of us. I forgot to mention that earlier. Is that going to be an issue?"

Prinz shook her head, golden eyes steady. "No. Not at all. Polygamy is normal here for the strong. It's basically a right and no one has an issue with it as long as no one is being forced." she waved off like it was no big deal

Varion let out a relieved breath and smiled. "Good. I forgot to mention it."

Prinz leaned back on her hands, looking up at the sky. "My turn then I guess. I grew up with tutors — lots of them. My family expected a lot, but I never liked being sooo boxed in. So I started roaming. I traveled, saw places, met people, and just… enjoyed life. A few months ago I decided to try something different. I took a job at that bar in Dwargon. It was fun messing with people, teasing them, watching how they reacted. I never let anyone get close." She glanced at him, a softer smile curving her lips. "Until you walked in."

Varion chuckled. "That explains why you left with us so easily."

"Exactly." She nudged his shoulder playfully. "Your turn again. Tell me about your family."

He started to speak of the girls and kids again, but Prinz laughed and shook her head. "No, silly. I mean like your mother and father."

Varion paused. A look of slight sadness crossed his face, mixed with something warmer — happiness, like remembering someone dearly lost. Prinz noticed immediately and reached out, taking his hand and squeezing it gently, worried she had touched a sore subject.

He gave her fingers a grateful squeeze back. "I don't remember my original family," he said, scratching his cheek sheepishly. "Anything from back then is blurry. I think I was a slave… or maybe something else. It's hard to say. But then my dad found me. I was bleeding out, dying from some kind of attack. He remade me from the soul up. Gave me a new life. He chose me for some reason. He said he saw something in me that made him make the decision to choose me."

Prinz's eyes widened slightly, but she stayed quiet, letting him continue.

"He was the greatest," Varion said, voice warm. He looked up at the sky, a soft smile forming. "He played with me, cared for me, taught me magic, taught me how to use my new body, gave me a true ideal to strive for. He was the best."

Prinz's thumb brushed over his knuckles. "What was his name?"

Varion smiled. "Veldanava."

Prinz's eyes widened in instant recognition and shock. The name hit her like a thunderclap — the Star Dragon King, the creator whose existence was spoken of only in the oldest royal archives. She stared at him, golden eyes huge, but Varion didn't notice at first, lost in the memory.

"But he's gone now," Varion continued, voice steady but edged with old pain. "It took him literally giving me a part of himself to make me. It was slowly killing him — he never told me, but I figured it out later. It weakened him to the point that a dragon named Acnologia killed him." He said the name with clear venom. "But he never regretted it. I still remember the moment he named me. It was like the very core of who I was shifted."

He finally looked at Prinz and saw her shocked expression. His brow furrowed in confusion. "Prinz? You okay?"

She blinked, forcing the mask back into place, but the shock still lingered in her eyes. "Veldanava," she whispered, almost to herself. "Your father was… Veldanava."

Varion tilted his head, waiting for her to explain, but Prinz only squeezed his hand tighter, mind racing behind her careful smile.

The picnic basket sat forgotten between them as the afternoon sun dipped lower, the weight of that single name hanging in the air like a secret neither of them had expected to share so soon.
