Chapter 88 - chapter 88

The rat king let out a loud roar in pain before he slammed the ground, sending debris flying in all directions and making a huge smoke screen, and took advantage of the disruption to flee, which makes Clad lose him.

"Shit!" Clad said, slightly angered by the fact that Marouce successfully got away.

As Clad sighs, he notices movement in the sky. He looks up to see the harpy from earlier during the day, and shouts in her direction, trying to catch her attention.

"Hey!" He shouted while waving from below.

!!

The harpy saw his signal and descended to him gracefully as a fallen petal.

"Hi, Clad!" She happily said.

"Hello, Minrah, may I ask you for something?"

"What is it?" She asks.

"Can you look for a giant rat monster? It won't be hard to notice it from above." Clad asked her, which she understands as he sees her fly away from him, searching the nearby area.

Meanwhile, the others won their fight with the rat king's soldiers and shouted their victory.

"We won!"

Clad, who was coming back to the group, felt a sudden pain in his chest.

"Did I break a rib during my fight? I should ask to get healed by that priest," he thought as he noticed Jill from afar, speaking to Lylia.

"Hey Jill!" He shouted.

!!

"Clad!" Jill says as she waved at him from afar

As Clad walked to them, Jill asked him about the rat king, and he told her that they were still looking for him from above and that he should be dead by tomorrow, either from blood loss or by the soldier's hands.

Meanwhile, further away from his castle, the rat king is running away, transformed back into his normal appearance as he was defeated. He thought that he should at least report to Azorath about the enemy he faced.

"Shit!" He muttered to himself while bleeding due to the loss of an arm.

Marouce ran from a barely lit alleyway to a dark building, into a secret room. He closed the door behind him, gasping for air as his side bled due to Clad cutting his arm off. He quickly pulled a purple orb to communicate with Azorath with it, when suddenly he felt a sharp pain in his chest. The man looked down in horror as he realised that he had been stabbed in the back.

UGH!

As the blade slowly went through his body to the doorknob, Marouce fell to the ground, and the door opened, revealing it to be Omen.

"Julius, Haru, I've killed the rat king, we're leaving."

"Yes, sir," they said in unison as they all vanished into the shadows.

At the same time, Jill and Adonis went into the castle from below, before running into an elf, crying as she held another female elf in her arms.

"What's going on?" Adonis asks her as she tightly holds the lifeless woman.

The elf tells them that she is her wife and that they were supposed to get married next week, but she is dead now.

"Oh, my condolences," Adonis said awkwardly.

Jill wonders what she could do as she looks at the immense hole in the woman's head.

Adonis looked in front of him as he saw a silhouette, which looked very similar to the dead woman that was being held, and asked if Jill could see what he was seeing, but she declined. Adonis asks Jill if he could regenerate her body into shape.

"I could if I gave her a portion of my blood..."

"But I don't fully master my powers yet, so there's a pretty big chance her body might just blow up if I try."

The elf says that it doesn't matter because if she can't live with her wife, she will feel alone forever.

Jill understands her feelings and proceeds to cut her finger and the lady's arm, allowing her to transfuse some of her blood into her body, with Adonis and the woman all being concentrated on what she was doing. The woman's body slowly started to regenerate the hole in her stomach. And Adonis looked at what he thought was a spirit and forced it in the empty husk.

"Adonis, what the hell are you..."

The woman suddenly woke up, with parts of her blonde hair suddenly becoming grey, and her eyes becoming red, in the arms of her wife. She cried in joy and thanked both of them.

"No problem," Jill replied, looking at the two reconcile with each other.

"I don't know what you did, Adonis, but good job", Jill said as the two left the couple alone, both walking out of the now ownerless castle.
