Chapter 79 - chapter 79: ice mage (3)

Lylia prepared herself for the fight even though she was at a complete disadvantage; she wasn't an awakened, nor did she have things that were significant enough to compensate, she only had her natural demon strength, with a bit of personal combat experience, and the little training she had with Adonis.

"If I don't kill him here, he will definitely kill me...." she thought.

She ran straight at him, expecting him to throw another long-range attack at her, and luckily for her, he did exactly what she thought he would do, as he cast dozens of swords made up of ice and sent them towards her at incredible speeds wich she barely dodged, with one of them grazing her, exposing the right side of her shoulder and suddenly making her feel very cold.

"Feeling cold?"

"That's because my frozen garden eventually freezes up any of my opponents; the longer the fight drags on, the more you freeze to death!" Darca said with a confident yet serious look on his face.

"I'm on a limited time, huh?"

"Guess it means I don't really have time to think about a plan!" Lylia thought as she dashed towards him with great speed, closing the gap between the two almost immediately, surprising Darca as she went in for a punch to his right side, which he blocked with his right arm rather easily as he felt the difference in strength between Jill and her.

"Hmph, you're not as strong as the other woman I've frozen."

"Maybe so, but it won't stop me from trying to beat you." She replied with a determined look.

Heh..

"This much arrogance could get you killed," Darca said as he summoned a short axe made out of ice from his left hand, swinging it towards her, forcing her to back off so she could avoid the incoming attack.

"This guy has a lot of experience; his quick thinking could be compared to that of a demon knight!" The woman thought as she regained her footing and quickly started running in a circle around Darca.

"What the?" he said as he looked at her running at him again.

"You tried it before, and it didn't work. What makes you think you'll succeed now!" He shouted, summoning dozens of huge ice pillars that went directly toward her as she ran to him. She swiftly used the incoming pillars as a platform, jumping from one to another as she found herself within range of the mage.

"What!?" Darca said in shock as Lylia landed on the ground then quickly closed the gap between the two, the ice mage, in forced in a defencive position, attempts to punch her face but she quickly dodges and counters with an uppercut to his chin, with so much strength that it sends him flying into a nearby pool of water caused by the broken water fountain.

"Now all I have to do is kill him while he's out," Lylia told herself as his body suddenly disintegrated into snow dust, leaving her confused about what had happened, but it didn't really matter, as she knew she had won the fight.

Crack!

A sudden crack could be heard as Jill's frozen body started to unfreeze, revealing she was still breathing under all the ice. As her entire arm started bleeding immediately due to the lack of her right hand.

"Jill!" Lylia said as she came to her side, looking at Jill's arm regenerating. Skin, bones and veins were all rebuilding themselves with what seemed to be her own energy.

"It's fine, this could barely be called 'damage' by my standards," She said as she stretched herself. She then turned to Lylia and told her that they would be leaving to go deeper into the castle walls, which she agreed to.

"Good, and I hope that the others are doing fine."
