Chapter 257 - Chapter 257: Night City and a Mysterious Mechanical Evil God

In a vast, empty void, a figure moved swiftly through a portal formed from higher-dimensional energy.

The figure was a young woman with beautiful shoulder-length white hair, fair skin, flushed cheeks, a straight nose, thin but well-shaped lips, a tall figure, and long limbs. She wore leather witcher gear and carried a sword at her waist, looking sharp, capable, and spirited.

Her name was Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon. She was born into royalty, the daughter of Nilfgaardian Emperor Emhyr var Emreis and Princess Pavetta of Cintra, as well as the granddaughter of Calanthe, the Lioness of Cintra.

But she did not like that identity. She preferred another one, the adopted daughter of the witcher Geralt of Rivia.

As for why she was here now, in this bewildering void, that had to do with the Elder Blood.

She was a Source, possessing powerful, uncontrollable magical talent, and she was also the inheritor of the Elder Blood. This allowed her to travel through time and space, earning her the title of Lady of Space and Time.

The Elder Blood possessed great power, but she had not mastered that power yet. That same power was coveted by evil forces.

The Wild Hunt, a group of elves from another world.

The leader of the Wild Hunt had killed the king of the elven realm and temporarily taken control of the elven kingdom. They wanted to capture Ciri and seize her blood so they could travel through different times and spaces, strengthen their magic, and solidify their rule.

Right now, Ciri was no match for the Wild Hunt, so she could only flee. Just now, she had been found by the Wild Hunt again, forcing her to open a spatial jump and head to a brand-new world to escape their pursuit.

Just as Ciri was wondering what kind of world the next one would be, and what kind of power system it would possess, she suddenly looked ahead in shock.

A mass of black had suddenly appeared there.

That black mass radiated an extremely powerful energy fluctuation. It easily tore apart the higher-dimensional energy capable of breaking through spatial blockades and forcibly squeezed a portal out of it.

Damn it, what exactly was that thing?

In Ciri's life of less than twenty years, she had traveled through time and space dozens of times, but this was the first time she had ever discovered such a strange and unfamiliar phenomenon.

What made her even more incredulous was that once the black, wormhole-like thing stabilized, a figure leisurely walked out of it.

It was a young man who looked about her age, with a faint lightning-shaped scar on his forehead.

No, this was the void, the gap between two worlds. Only someone with the Elder Blood could teleport across worlds, so what was going on with this person?

Ciri could not sense any familiar aura of the Elder Blood from him. She could not even sense the slightest trace of magic, as if an ordinary person were standing before her. Aside from the fact that they were surrounded by the void, there was nothing unusual about him at all.

One had to know that even a higher-dimensional being like Master Mirror could still give her a partial sense of information through the Elder Blood, but the Elder Blood's sharp perception had completely failed against this mysterious person, as if he truly were an ordinary man.

But how could an ordinary person open a portal in the void and then calmly look her up and down with curiosity?

Needless to say, Ciri was terrified right now.

This time, Harry had not teleported to the world he had observed, but to a certain unfamiliar world.

However, he had chosen a world with a relatively high energy level, one not much weaker than the multiverse.

As expected, when he crossed into this world, he immediately sensed a honeycomb-like spatial structure.

This world had a multiversal cosmology!

However, after sensing it carefully, Harry was stunned to discover that this world was different from the parallel-universe multiversal cosmology of the multiverse. Instead, many different universes were stuck together.

Although the number of universes was not as high as the multiverse, their power systems were more complex, and their cultures and races were far more diverse than those of the multiverse.

Harry liked worlds like this. A world's diversity could bring him more inspiration and push him to consume more of his chaos origin power.

After briefly sensing the world he was currently in, Harry turned his attention to his surroundings.

He curiously examined the area and realized where he was.

What surprised him somewhat was that the surroundings were actually a structure similar to the Einstein-Rosen bridge used in Bifrost teleportation. However, this structure was even more refined than the Bifrost's and could travel back and forth between different worlds.

Then Harry turned his gaze to the young woman in front of him. She was not even twenty years old, and there was a powerful force inside her.

Mm, the world was paying attention to her. It seemed she was one of this world's "main characters."

Noticing that the white-haired girl in front of him was a little nervous, Harry smiled gently, trying to help her relax, and said softly, "Hello, I'm Harry Potter, a… traveler. May I ask where we are right now?"

After Harry spoke, Ciri quietly let out a breath. Being able to negotiate was always better than immediately fighting. Over her many years of traveling, she had seen far too many opponents who appeared normal on the surface but had no reason at all.

Ciri hesitated slightly, then decided to tell the truth, because she felt the person in front of her probably knew where they were already and was merely asking out of politeness, like asking a friend whether they had eaten.

"This is the gap between two worlds. We are currently moving quickly toward another world. We should arrive in about an hour."

"One hour? What a crude teleportation method…" Harry muttered to himself.

Ciri, standing beside him, grew even more nervous. This was the teleportation method of the Elder Blood, and also the most efficient teleportation method she had ever seen. Yet in this person's eyes, it was inefficient?

Ciri realized that this mysterious person might be even stronger than she had imagined, possibly far beyond the limits of her imagination.

Although the mysterious man showed a friendly attitude, Ciri still did not dare to be careless. After carefully weighing her tone, she said quietly, "Sorry, this is already the best teleportation method I have."

Harry also realized that Ciri had heard his muttering and immediately felt a little awkward. He had suddenly barged into someone else's teleportation passage, then complained about that person's teleportation passage. That was indeed a little inappropriate.

However, after everything he had gone through, Harry's skin had also become much thicker. He smiled and said, "It's fine. I'll fix it for you."

Immediately afterward, Harry drew his wand and quickly carved runes into the void in front of him.

During this process, he analyzed the strange power inside Ciri's body and constructed specific runes based on the way that power manifested.

A moment later, Harry slightly modified the runes, completed the reconstruction, materialized them, and tossed the result to Ciri.

"Activate this rune. It should improve your control over your own abilities."

After Ciri caught the special rune, she examined it carefully.

This special rune was formed from densely packed tiny runes. Those tiny runes kept flowing, and after staring at them for a while, she felt a slight dizziness.

The mysterious man in front of her was clearly far stronger than she was. If he wanted to harm her, he would not need to deceive her. He could simply attack directly. So Ciri decisively activated the rune.

The next moment, the rune turned into a stream of light and sank into her body, becoming lines of golden tattoos that crawled across the skin all over her body.

When she came back to her senses, she was stunned to discover that her ability to control the Elder Blood had increased drastically. Even the speed of the teleportation passage they were in had increased dozens of times.

Now, they only needed a few minutes to reach another world.

After that, the two of them talked and gained a rough understanding of each other's basic information. Then they saw the end of the tunnel light up, and in the next instant, they arrived in a desert covered in yellow sand.

Looking around, the flat ground stretched endlessly into the distance. As far as the eye could see, there was only desolation.

A fierce wind carried sand and dust as it howled past, producing a shrill, piercing whistle, as if it wanted to drag everything in the world into endless chaos.

Clearly, most of this world's environment had been severely damaged and was unsuitable for ordinary people to survive.

However, within their line of sight, there was still one place suitable for human habitation.

Looking far into the distance, a massive structure lay abruptly across the end of the wasteland, as if it had been forcibly embedded into this desert world from another dimension.

It was a city full of technological style. Rows of skyscrapers pierced straight into the clouds, as if trying to puncture the oppressive sky.

The metal and glass covering the surfaces of the buildings reflected blinding light under the glow of the setting sun, like a cold steel jungle.

At the edge of the city, huge billboards flashed with colorful neon lights. Their advertisements changed by the millisecond, promoting all kinds of dazzling products and services, from cyberware modifications to virtual experiences.

Strong light pierced through the sand and dust from the city, casting streams of colorful shadows over the desert, completely out of place against the gray, deathly still tones around it.

Clearly, this was the human gathering place of this world, a futuristic city several decades more advanced than Earth's technology in the multiverse.

In Ciri's previous world travels, most of the worlds she had visited were medieval fantasy worlds. This was her first time arriving in such a special technological world, and she could not help but praise it.

"What a fascinating world. What magnificent buildings!"

Harry, however, did not feel any amazement. The wonders of the different cosmic empires in the multiverse were far more magnificent than this.

He simply learned the general state of Ciri's original world from her words and could not help asking, "Is the technology in your original world not very developed?"

"That's right. Our power system mainly comes from chaos magic! It is a system led by sorceresses, supplemented by supernatural powers such as witchers, druids, and vampires."

"Chaos magic!" Harry immediately noticed that Ciri's world also had a power called chaos magic. Joy appeared on his face, and he immediately asked, "To what extent have you developed the use of chaos magic?"

Ciri did not know why Harry became a little excited when he heard about chaos magic, but she still answered, "We mostly use magic through magic circles. At its strongest, it can destroy a city, but there are very few sorceresses at that level. Oh, right. Aside from sorceresses, there is also someone called Master Mirror, or rather, a demon. He can stop time and space!"

A demon!

Harry's hands itched a little. Demons were what he liked killing the most.

He had not expected that in Ciri's world, a demon would actually be the strongest existence. Combined with the chaos magic of that world, Harry now could not wait to go there and have a talk with this so-called Master Mirror.

However, while talking with Ciri, Harry learned that she needed a week of rest before she could travel between worlds again. That was after her abilities had been enhanced. Without Harry's rune augmentation, she would have needed three months of rest before she could travel between worlds.

So Harry and Ciri needed to remain in this world for at least a week, but Harry did not mind. After all, there were too many interesting things to experience in an unfamiliar world.

The cultures and technology of other worlds were all important treasures.

More importantly, Harry discovered that this world's system also seemed deformed. Perhaps he could use this world to simulate a worldwide reform again and accumulate experience.

Apart from that, there was one more thing that especially caught Harry's attention.

He raised his head slightly and looked over, only to see an enormous mechanical sphere floating above Night City's sky.

The mechanical sphere had a diameter of roughly ten kilometers, making it larger than an ordinary mountain.

In Harry's spiritual vision, this enormous mechanical sphere was not located in the real world, but in a subdimension similar to the spirit world or a mirror world.

Even so, its power could still influence reality, and its power was…

Harry's gaze crossed dozens of kilometers and sank into the city known as Night City.

The city was currently extremely prosperous, even livelier than the cities of an ordinary world, as if it had not been affected in the slightest by the enormous mechanical sphere in the sky.

Of course, it would have been even better if the passersby walking along the streets were not flesh-and-blood beings, but rusty robots pieced together from messy machinery.

Harry rubbed his chin, lowered his head, and said softly, "Mm, this world is a little strange. It seems to have been invaded by some kind of evil god."

Ciri had not heard him clearly and asked in confusion, "Harry, what did you say?"

Harry shook his head. "Nothing. It doesn't affect us. We're going to Night City. Let's leave now."

Ciri: "…"

She hated people who only said half of what they meant the most!

Also, what exactly had he discovered?!

However, Ciri only dared complain in her heart. Not a trace of emotion appeared on her face.

Although Harry looked like a very kind person, who knew what his true nature was?

Having suffered enough beatings from life, Ciri knew exactly what kind of attitude she should use when facing an existence far stronger than herself.

They were still more than a dozen kilometers away from Night City. If they walked there, it would take several hours. Ciri knew Harry should have a solution, so she asked, "How are we getting to Night City?"

Harry answered Ciri's question with action. He lightly tapped the ground with his wand, and the scorched yellow earth rapidly changed. It actually formed a car with a strong Night City style.

Harry opened the door, sat in the driver's seat, raised an eyebrow, and said, "What are you waiting for? Get in."

Only then did Ciri snap back to her senses. "Oh, right."

She opened the passenger door and sat in the passenger seat. Although there was not much change on her face, she was incomparably shocked inside.

As a witcher, she naturally understood magic fairly well, especially since she had a powerful sorceress as her adoptive mother.

Right now, she was screaming repeatedly in her heart, "Aaaah, such effortless matter transmutation! Who exactly is Harry?!"
