Chapter 323 - Chapter 323- The Digital Herald

The arena transformed as the morning sun climbed higher, casting long shadows across the bleachers. A massive screen descended from the ceiling, its surface rippling like liquid mercury before stabilizing into crystal clarity. The crowd's murmur shifted to anticipation as the display flickered to life.

A figure materialized on the screen—an avatar so realistic it was almost unsettling. Kazimir Zelenko appeared in a burst of pyrrhia sparks, confetti-like particles dancing around his form like digital fireflies. His appearance was distinctly modern, almost too polished: sharp cheekbones, eyes that shifted colors with each word, a knowing smirk that seemed to acknowledge every single person watching. He wore a sleek jacket that shimmered with holographic patterns, the kind of fashion that existed only in the space between reality and imagination.

"WHAT IS UP, ARENA!" Kazimir's voice boomed through the speakers, layered with an energy that vibrated through the very air. He threw his arms wide, digital confetti exploding around him in a cascade of shimmering light. "Welcome, welcome, welcome to the main event you've all been waiting for! Today's matchups are so juicy, they'll leave your tastebuds begging for more!"

The crowd erupted, a wave of cheers and hoots washing over the stands. Some leaned forward in their seats, others pumped their fists. The energy was electric, infectious.

Kazimir spun on the screen, his movements fluid and exaggerated. "First up, we've got the seductive but venomous sisters—Yelena, Valeriya, Dmitri, and Katerina!" He winked, a shimmer of digital stars trailing from his eye. "These four don't just fight; they perform. Every move is a statement, every strike a conversation. Don't let the smiles fool you; they'll charm you and disarm you in the same breath! They're like a bouquet of roses—beautiful to look at, but those thorns? Oh, those thorns will cut you deep."

The crowd's response was a mix of whistles and nervous laughter. A few men in the front rows shifted uncomfortably, suddenly aware of the women watching from the competitor's area.

"Next up, we've got Evan Torrent!" Kazimir's voice shifted to a more serious tone, his expression becoming almost reverent. "Quiet, efficient, the kind of guy who lets his actions do the talking. Don't expect any flashy speeches from this one—he'll just show up, do the work, and walk away like it was nothing. A true professional!"

The screen split, showing brief clips of each competitor in action. Evan's segment was short but impactful—a blur of motion, a decisive strike, an opponent hitting the ground.

"And now, the slimy trio!" Kazimir's voice took on a playful, almost teasing edge. "J1, J2, and J3! These three qualified alongside our mysterious friend Leo Jerkins, and let me tell you—they're ready for a fight! They've got that hungry look in their eyes, the kind that says they've got something to prove!"

The crowd cheered, though with less enthusiasm than before. The three competitors in question—J1, J2, and J3—sat in their designated area, their expressions a mixture of determination and nervous energy.

Kazimir's form shimmered, and he appeared to lean forward, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "And finally, we've got Dragomir Petrov. This guy? Built like a mountain, hits like a landslide. If you're facing him, I hope you've got good insurance, 'cause you're gonna need it."

The screen displayed a montage of Dragomir's training footage—images of him lifting impossible weights, of him smashing through obstacles like they were made of paper. The crowd's reaction was a collective intake of breath.

---

In the stands, a group of spectators watched Kazimir's performance with mixed emotions. One of them, a young woman with wide eyes, leaned toward her companion.

"He's so realistic," she murmured, her voice tinged with unease. "The way he moves, the way he talks... it's almost creepy. Like he's actually here."

Her companion, a middle-aged man with graying temples, nodded slowly. "With how tech is advancing, I'm really thankful I got a job at Jerkin base. At least I know the people I work with are real. Mostly."

A third voice chimed in from behind them, younger and more cynical. "Yeah, now the machines know how to talk like us. Really weird times we're living in. Next thing you know, they'll be taking our jobs too."

The first woman shuddered. "Don't even joke about that."

Kazimir, oblivious to their conversation—or perhaps perfectly aware and simply choosing not to acknowledge it—continued his presentation. His form flickered, and he appeared to be floating now, his arms spread wide.

"Today's matches are going to be something special, folks! We've got powerhouses, underdogs, and everything in between. So sit back, grab your snacks, and get ready for some action!"

---

Elsewhere in the stands, Kael sat with Brenda, their position elevated enough to provide a clear view of both the arena and the competitors' area. Kael's eyes scanned the crowd, his expression unreadable.

"Ensuring this tournament continues was really a bold move," Kael said, his voice carrying a note of grudging respect. "It'll at least save each side the troubles on the prospects to recruit. A little competition never hurt anyone, right?"

Brenda's gaze was fixed on the stands, specifically on a figure sitting among the crowd. Leo Jerkins. Or rather, Elijah wearing Leo Jerkins' face. She studied him with an intensity that bordered on predatory.

She didn't respond immediately, her focus elsewhere.

Kael noticed. He followed her gaze, his eyes narrowing. "Still looking at that brat?" He shook his head slowly. "I don't see anything special about him. Other than having big balls to decide to participate in this tournament. That takes guts, I'll give him that."

Brenda's lips curved into a thin smile. She finally tore her gaze away from Elijah and turned to face Kael. "Who do you think will shine today?"

Kael leaned back, his expression thoughtful. "Obviously that Cassia Ulfric girl. I heard from one insider of our Torrent base that she's a real monstrosity. If you ask me, she's going to wipe the floor with everyone else."

Brenda raised an eyebrow, her smile widening. "Is that so?"

"Absolutely. She's got something the others don't. I can feel it."

Brenda tilted her head, her eyes glinting with amusement. "How about this—that Leo kid will make it to the quarter rounds. How about a bet?"

Kael's eyes narrowed. He studied her for a long moment, then let out a short laugh. "Fine. But don't start crying when your admired prospect fails, alright? And I hope you've got the funds to back it up."

He extended his hand. "Fifty Vaul coins. Worth six million, give or take. You in?"

Brenda's smile didn't waver. She took his hand, her grip firm. "I'm in."

The deal was sealed.

---

Back in the arena, Kazimir's form flickered one more time, his voice rising to a crescendo.

"Alright, folks! Are you ready for some action?!"

The crowd roared, their voices merging into a single, thunderous wave of sound.

Kazimir spread his arms wide, his digital form seeming to grow larger, more imposing. "Then let's get this party started! First match begins in T-MINUS TEN SECONDS!"

The countdown appeared on the screen, each number accompanied by a burst of light and sound.

Ten.

Nine.

Eight.

The crowd chanted along, their voices rising with each number.

Seven.

Six.

Five.

The air was thick with anticipation.

Four.

Three.

Two.

One.

"BEGIN!"

The first match exploded into motion.

Kazimir's image faded from the screen, replaced by a live feed of the arena below. The competitors moved into position, their bodies coiled with tension, their eyes locked on their opponents.

---

In the VIP section, Jericho Jerkin leaned forward, his earlier irritation forgotten. "Finally. Something worth watching."

Brenna rolled her eyes but didn't respond. Her attention was fixed on the arena below.

Nikolai Morozov watched with a predatory gleam in his eyes, his fingers tapping a rhythmic pattern against his knee.

Valerik, Dhivya Rana, Isha Patel, and Eugene Torrent all leaned forward, their earlier disagreements forgotten in the face of the coming spectacle.

The tournament had begun.

And everyone knew that nothing would ever be the same again.
