Chapter 41 - A Calm Before the Next Storm

The announcement echoed through the stadium's massive speakers:

"Attention all Spirit Masters! The next battery will begin tomorrow morning. For today, participants are permitted rest periods. You may return to your hotels, explore the stadium, or engage in light training."

The stadium, usually buzzing with battle energy, now hummed with relaxed anticipation.

Riku's team exchanged glances. Mira stretched her arms, her silver aura flickering softly in amusement.

"Finally… some rest," Riku muttered, letting Bolt wander nearby, sniffing at various corners of the stadium.

Toma yawned dramatically. "I could nap for a week right here and still feel tired."

Mira laughed. "Or we could explore. The announcer said we're allowed. This stadium isn't just an arena—it's huge."

Scene 1 – Touring the Stadium

The Nepal team met Japan's team near the central promenade. Kaito greeted them with a polite bow.

"Nepal team, welcome. Since we have a free day, let's see the stadium. There's much to explore."

Ayane nudged Mira playfully.

"You're the famous Kitsune. Tell me… do you enjoy traveling like this, or are you all about battles?"

Mira smirked. "Depends. But I do enjoy seeing other teams relax… and causing them a little confusion."

"Oh?" Ayane's eyes sparkled. "Do tell."

Mira winked subtly. "Some things are best shown in action."

Bolt barked softly as if agreeing, making Ayane giggle.

The two teams wandered together, checking out stadium facilities: holographic training zones, Core data labs, simulated arenas, and massive observation decks where fans could watch virtual battles even during downtime.

Toma pointed at a holographic screen.

"Look! They've uploaded previous matches. We can analyze… or just admire how fast Kaito moves."

Riku chuckled. "Or how slow some of America's team was before. But today isn't about comparisons—it's just… experience."

Scene 2 – Fun and Games

Mira and Ayane started a playful contest, racing through a holographic obstacle course.

"Bet you can't beat me," Ayane teased.

Mira smiled faintly, "Careful what you wish for."

The course projected floating platforms, holographic fire rings, and moving barriers. Both girls leapt, dodged, and spun—light beams flickering with each movement.

Riku and Kaito watched silently, noting patterns.

"They're not just strong," Riku said, "they're agile, precise… and somehow laughing through it."

Kaito grinned, "That's why they'll survive the real matches. Bonded, focused, but still enjoying themselves."

Bolt jumped midair, nudging Tora (Kaito's tiger) in playful mimicry. Sparks flew harmlessly from both Core Beasts, drawing laughter from both teams.

Scene 3 – Casual Conversations

As the teams rested near a small stadium café, discussions flowed freely.

Toma whispered to Riku, "Mira seems… happy. She's not just focused on battles anymore."

Riku nodded slowly. "She trusts them. That's all. And we can't fight alone either."

Ayane leaned toward Mira, a teasing glint in her eyes:

"So… do you like him? Your teammate, the speed one?"

Mira's ears flushed lightly. She glanced at Riku.

"Perhaps… but don't tell him I said that."

Bolt barked again, making everyone laugh.

Kaito and Riku exchanged amused smirks. Neither fully understood the subtle tension between the girls, but they respected it silently.

"You know," Toma whispered, "Core battles are complicated… but friendship is even more unpredictable."

Scene 4 – Observations and Reflection

Walking through the stadium's observation deck, the teams admired the scale of the global event.

"Imagine," Mira said softly, "all these spectators, and yet the real fight isn't about them—it's about us, our Core, and the bond we share."

Riku nodded, watching Bolt carefully pace.

"We've come far," he said. "And tomorrow, we'll see how far we've really grown. But today… let's enjoy it."

"Agreed," Kaito said. "Even the best fighters need a moment of peace."

They laughed, shared meals, and swapped stories about previous battles.

Even the subtle teasing between Mira and Ayane brought smiles from Toma and Riku.

For the first time in weeks, they weren't warriors—they were just… friends.

Scene 5 – End of Day

The sun began to dip, casting golden reflections across the stadium's glass panels.

The teams returned to their quarters, Core Beasts quietly settling into their resting states.

Riku stood on the balcony of their temporary suite, looking at the sea beyond.

"Tomorrow," he whispered, "we'll fight. But today… we live."

Bolt padded silently beside him, sensing the calm.

"Even warriors deserve a pause," Mira said softly from behind.

Riku nodded, feeling the weight of the coming challenges, yet grateful for this quiet moment with his friends and allies.

Author Note

Hey everyone! So… I have to admit it—today I've been super lazy while writing this chapter. 😅 My imagination was taking a nap, my brain kept saying "bro… not today", and somehow I ended up just slowly letting the story flow. You know how it is… visualizing every Core, every battlefield, every single interaction can literally make your head feel like it's doing cardio.

Also! I've put the illustrations of the arena floor and Core beasts on my TikTok account MK No Jutsu—yep, that's my pen name and social handle too. Go check it out, scroll around, laugh at my sketches, and… maybe follow me? Pretty please. I promise I'll post more soon, but, uh… let's be honest, I'm kind of lazy. 😎

Oh! And a quick life update—my second elder brother's wedding just happened, so I've been running around like a headless chicken. Thank you all for understanding my chaotic, sleepy writer brain.

For today, this is all I can manage. Rest well, readers… and get hyped, because tomorrow, the next battle is going to blow your socks off! ⚡🔥

P.S. Seriously… check out the TikTok Core and ground illustrations. They're funny, they're chaotic, they're my baby, and you'll probably laugh at my lazy artist vibes.
