Chapter 61 - Chapter 61: Blood

While Vyonne was mourning, about five men who appeared to be guards surrounded her.

Vyonne, slightly surprised, saw who was leading them from behind.

"Is this your doing, Minister?"

The bespectacled man grinned.

"Oh my, Princess... what are you saying? I was only doing my duty to uphold tradition."

"You cunning bastard! You're the mastermind behind the kidnapping and even the trafficking of humans! You're a traitor!"

"Huhu, even if you knew, Princess, you don't have any proof."

"But here I have proof." The man's eyes were sly.

"The princess, heir to the Rosemoon throne, fell in love with a human. However, tempted by the scent of human blood, she killed him."

"Considering that this is treason against the Rosemoon kingdom and a violation of existing regulations, the princess will be sentenced to death."

"You... truly wish to overthrow this kingdom?" Vyonne looked at him with contempt.

But the minister was unperturbed.

"Of course, Princess. We vampires have immortality, but why must we follow that foolish tradition of eternal sleep? And knowing the blood of a sentient being is so delicious, why shouldn't we enjoy it?"

"The Queen won't let you."

"No, because the Queen is helpless too."

"What do you mean?"

"Am I the only one like this, Princess?"

Vyonne was furious at those words.

Those who had always seemed quiet and obedient to the rules actually harbored greed within them. They even didn't hesitate to betray her.

Just as the soldiers were about to advance and arrest her, Vyonne tore the skin off her hand.

The blood from her hand didn't drip, but instead floated and formed into a sword.

A sharp and beautiful sword of blood.

Vyonne wasn't particularly skilled in combat, let alone facing five soldiers at once. But even so, Vyonne had only one thought now, killing the evil man before her.

But unfortunately, she couldn't succeed.

"Ah... what a shame, Princess."

The spearhead that pierced Vyonne's body was made of silver.

Silver was one of vampires' weaknesses.

Although vampires can regenerate, the silver material unfortunately inhibits their self-healing.

They might not die immediately, but the pain they suffer will be a constant and eternal suffering.

Vyonne was helpless, with two other spears crucified on her.

"Let's go."

"Are we going to leave the princess here, sir?"

"Unfortunately, yes. If she doesn't fight back... forget it. Let her suffer in a terrible, eternal agony."

The minister left with a wicked smile.

"Your Majesty..."

Cyan was too late.

Seeing the human man lying with his chest ripped open and Vyonne crucified on the silver spear, Cyan froze for a moment.

His eyes widened as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

His hands clenched tightly.

As Cyan turned to leave, a voice rang out.

It was a soft, very soft voice.

"Sir... hero...?"

Vyonne, pierced in the chest and crucified on both hands by the silver spear, spoke with difficulty.

Every time she opened her mouth, blood flowed out.

Cyan approached and bowed respectfully.

"Yes... princess." Cyan replied.

"You... didn't betray us, sir hero?"

"No, Your Highness."

"Then... why... did you leave, sir?"

"I have my reasons."

Vyonne stared at Cyan's regretful face with teary eyes. Vyonne was crying.

"Sir hero... can I... trust you... for the... last time...?"

"Please..."

Hearing this, Cyan pursed his lips and clenched his fists.

"Yes. Of course, Princess."

The light in Vyonne's eyes began to fade.

"Sir hero... may I... ask... one more thing...?"

"Anything for you, Princess."

"I... wish to go with him..."

Without further explanation, Cyan understood her meaning.

"As you wish, Your Majesty."

Cyan saw the princess and the human man off into the eternal flames.

The main castle of the Rosemoon kingdom.

The queen had lost consciousness.

It wasn't because of one or two people. The entire kingdom had been implicated.

Whether it was nobles or commoners. Whether it was intentional or not.

No, it wasn't like that.

In fact, their minds had all been controlled. With a secret ritual sealed by their ancestors.

Was the entire kingdom truly controlled? Not really.

Those involved in this crime weren't under any kind of control.

Why did they do it?

Was eternal sleep that bad?

No, it wasn't just that.

There were many reasons behind this rebellion.

The nobles, especially, wanted reform. And the commoners wanted pleasure.

Why? Didn't they already have their respective positions?

There were plenty of pleasures to be had, why did they have to rebel?

For some reason, some nobles began to dislike the system of government that had been passed down from their ancestors.

A queen, a woman leading them. Some still thought that being led by a weak woman was unpleasant.

Even if their queen was quite intelligent and kind, because they thought themselves stronger, being led by a weaker figure felt like a humiliation to their dignity.

So, did they want princes to take the throne?

Not really.

They wanted someone they had chosen themselves as their leader. A strong and intelligent figure, who could elevate the vampire race above all others.

"What... the..."

As Cyan arrived at the royal castle, another horrifying sight unfolded before him.

The queen, sitting with soulless eyes. And the two princes, impaled by silver spears, just like Vyonne.

"Hah... how ridiculous..." Cyan laughed bitterly.

His face was filled with anger and regret.

"I... am truly stupid..."

What made Cyan mock himself was the person before him.

A figure he knew. Someone he still respected, even though he sometimes resented him. The person who gave him his name.

"Father."

His father.

"What the hell is this...?"

Seeing his father, the Duke of Roseblood, the family name that had served the kingdom for generations, stab the two princes with terrifying silver spears, Cyan's anger boiled over.

His father, who had established his upbringing, who had always emphasized to Cyan that everything was for the kingdom.

His father had betrayed the kingdom, his beliefs, and himself.

Cyan stared at his father.

"Why...?" His voice held regret and anger.

His father stared at him emotionlessly.

"You already know the answer."

Cyan's eyes filled with regret.

Moments later, all the soldiers had filled the room and surrounded him. Some of them had been controlled, and some perhaps not.

Cyan laughed bitterly.

Those who had been brainwashed by the secret ritual could never return to their original state.

Cyan felt angry and regretful towards himself.

Was this the reward for feeling tired despite being a hero?

He'd neglected so much.

Responsibilities he'd never wanted but had been given to him.

Regrets that meant nothing but still tore at his heart.

Could he be selfish one more time?

"For the last time... "

His ruby-red eyes had faded to a jet black, devoid of light.

Blood began to flow from them.

"For this kingdom... "

Darkness had swallowed him.

The vampire hero's handsome face began to change. Filled with teeth that became larger and sharper, his face looked twisted.

Black veins began to carve his hands and face.

His claws became longer and sharper.

His pale white skin looked like a cracked porcelain statue.

Looking around, where the troops were surrounding him, a sudden explosion of blood emerged from below, forming blood spears that looked like roots that stabbed straight into their bodies one by one.

It didn't stop there.

As the blood spears pierced their bodies, the blood began to take root throughout their bodies and explode them into nothingness.

Even though his consciousness was starting to blur, Cyan still recognized who was before him.

His father, who looked quite shocked, raised his silver spear to fight him. But his father, the duke, was doomed to fail.

Cyan's blood spear pierced his father's heart, rooted throughout his body to his head, and exploded it into nothingness.

Cyan screamed.

A scream filled with regret.

Still standing in place, Cyan channeled his blood into the ground and spread it throughout the kingdom.

Right after his blood spread under the shadows of the people present, the same blood spear that had killed everyone in this palace room pierced them all without exception.

The spear that resembled a tree root rooted from the heart to all bodies and began to explode them without a trace.

The moon that shone white now glowed a blood red.

A sea of blood had inundated the kingdom.

All the citizens of the Rosemoon kingdom had disappeared.

The hero had fallen.

He had turned into a 'Primodial Vampire'.
