"Ding!" The elevator arrived at the twelfth floor.
Bella Acker hesitated before stepping out of the elevator.
The hallway's sensor lights came on automatically. Bella saw the door number 1201 and stood at the entrance for a while before reaching into her bag for the key.
The door opened, and the foyer was shrouded in gloom, as the curtains were drawn, even the light in the living room was dim.
Damian wasn't here right now.
Bella Acker breathed a sigh of relief, yet an involuntary sense of loss settled in her heart.
She smiled wryly to herself, didn't bother changing her shoes, closed the door, and walked in.
Everything in the living room seemed exactly as it was when she left five years ago, even the fruit dish on the coffee table hadn't been moved, as though no one had visited.
