Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Who Lets Go Just Because You Say So?

The warmth suddenly disappeared from his hand, and Sparkle glared at him fiercely: "Evan Saint, how can you just hold hands when you say so and let go when you feel like it?"

"Same goes for you." Back then, wasn't she the one who chased him relentlessly and then just disappeared?

Sparkle was unconvinced: "What do you mean? I've always clung to your hand shamelessly; when did I ever let go?"

Evan snorted and ignored her.

"You know it's really cold, right? If you're going to be my gloves, be thorough about it. Giving up halfway is not a good habit!"

Sparkle grumbled discontentedly as she forcibly stuffed her hand into Evan Saint's coat pocket, burrowing into his large hand, and sighed comfortably, "Much warmer now."

"Let go."

"No."

"Sparkle!"

"I'm immune." Sparkle shamelessly leaned against him, completely ignoring his cold gaze.

Got used to it ten years ago!

Isn't it romantic to hold hands with the one you love and walk through the snow, growing old together?

Growing old together isn't hard at all, what's hard is being with someone you truly love.

Evan Saint, I'm actually happy to see you again, but I no longer have the courage to love you.

Frowning, Evan Saint impatiently pushed her head away: "Stay away from me."

Sparkle put her hands on her hips: "Didn't your teacher ever tell you that important things should be kept close at hand?"

"Are you a thing?"

"I am."

Seeing her self-righteous expression, Evan was left speechless.

Sparkle took the opportunity to cling onto his arm, grinning cheekily, "Christmas is coming, have you prepared a gift for your aunt?"

"What's it to you?"

"I'll help you pick one."

"Not necessary."

"No need to be polite."

Evan glanced at her sideways; who was being polite with her?

Sparkle chuckled to herself, everything seemed to go back to the way it was.

Yet, those two deceitful faces on the big screen constantly reminded her that there's no going back.

Feeling a sudden quietness around, Evan turned his head in confusion, only to see her standing before the TV wall, staring intently at the screen.

It's an ad with Aaron Lawson and Linda Hancock.

In the swirling snowflakes, Linda Hancock looked charming, "Have you prepared a Christmas gift for your aunt?"

Aaron Lawson shook his head, "I don't know what to give."

Blushing, she reached out her hand and said shyly, "Silly, you can take me home and give your aunt a daughter-in-law."

A little angel lightly touched a ring, which fell into Aaron Lawson's hand.

Surprised, he took Linda Hancock's hand and slid the ring onto her finger, and the two embraced and kissed amidst the swirling snow.

The scene was breathtakingly beautiful.

Sparkle smiled, "This was Linda Hancock and Aaron Lawson's masterpiece, entirely planned, packaged, and created by me."

"It's the proposal scene I imagined countless times. I desperately wanted to say those final words to you ten years ago, but you never cared to listen, and now they've been ruined by these vile people!"

Evan's Adam's apple moved slightly, and he felt a bit of dryness in his throat.

"Forget it, I'll collect what's owed to me eventually. I personally brought them to this height, and I'll personally bring them down!"

Sparkle returned to her carefree manner, laughing as she pulled Evan along.

"See, you really lost out, right? If you accepted me ten years ago, that romantic proposal and line would have been yours."

Evan looked deeply into her eyes, "You can still say it now."
