Chapter 21 - 21

"Huh… there you have it."

Nearly an hour passed before Leo finally let out a deep breath. Their first dinner was ready.

"Is it good?"

After placing the last stir-fried vegetables onto the plate, Leo lowered his head and looked at Kristen with a faint smile.

"It's… really good. The food you made is amazing," Kristen replied, her face slightly flushed, a hint of nostalgia in her expression.

She tried to stand, but her legs were numb. The moment she got up, she stumbled and fell straight into Leo's arms.

Leo caught her effortlessly and carried her into the dining area.

"Wait for the meal."

After saying that, he returned to the kitchen, brought out all the dishes, and served two bowls of rice.

Walking back into the living room, he placed the rice and chopsticks in front of Kristen and smiled lightly."Eat before it gets cold."

Kristen picked up the chopsticks, but her peach-blossom eyes flickered with grievance as she glanced at him.

It wasn't that the food was getting cold—

The meal had already been ready for a while. He had simply kept her there, not letting her move. Her knees were sore and swollen, her legs still numb.

"I want to wear a dress…" Kristen hugged herself, her slender brows slightly furrowed. There was a faint pleading look in her eyes as she spoke softly, her face burning with embarrassment.

Leo sat across from her and smiled."It's just the two of us. Why bother?"

As he spoke, his gaze drifted toward her chest before he added casually,"Put it on the table and let me take a look."

Kristen's face flushed instantly.

But seeing the anticipation in Leo's eyes, she hesitated… and could only comply.

Letting go of her hand, a pair of plump breast, she leaned forward slightly, dragged

it with both of her hands, put them on the dining table, and then looked at Leo opposite with a red face.

"Eat quickly. Think about whether you need anything. I can go out tomorrow and get it for you."

Looking at the table—filled not only with food but also with desserts—Leo nodded in satisfaction and spoke casually.

Of course, going out wasn't really for her. He wanted to check if the roads were safer.

"Thank you…" Kristen said softly.

She picked up her chopsticks, her emotions complicated as she ate the delicious food.

After thinking for a moment, she realized there wasn't much she needed right now.

There were only a few cosmetics left, but going out to get them would be dangerous. What if he got hurt?

She hesitated, then said nothing.

But after a while, she suddenly put down her chopsticks and looked at Leo seriously, a trace of unease in her voice.

"Leo… I don't need anything, but… I have something to ask you…"

"What is it?" Leo glanced at her curiously.

"I have a sister in the city. Can you… find a way to rescue her?" Kristen asked anxiously.

Then she quickly added,"I contacted her—she hasn't turned into a zombie."

She had hesitated for a long time before bringing this up.

This man had taken her without hesitation. If her twin sister came too… would he treat her the same way?

And her sister had a fiery temper. If she angered Leo, would things spiral out of control?

But compared to survival, those concerns felt insignificant.

If her sister could come back, at least she wouldn't be alone anymore.

"You have a sister?" Leo looked at her in surprise.

After working in the company for three years, he had never heard of it.

"Mm… her name is Bella. She works in the Criminal Investigation Brigade at the municipal police station. She's very busy and has never been to the company, so you probably wouldn't know her," Kristen explained, a little embarrassed.

"A police officer?" Leo raised his eyebrows, even more surprised.

"With such a big family business… she chose such a dangerous job?"

"Yes. She's very independent and doesn't like the life arranged by the family," Kristen said with a wry smile.

Her younger sister was completely different from her—hot-tempered, bold, and stubborn.

While Kristen excelled in business, her sister had always loved action and police work. She had secretly applied to the police academy despite her family's objections.

For three years, she hadn't gone home, hadn't taken any money, and barely contacted their parents.

Only Kristen kept track of her.

In the end, their parents had no choice but to accept it.

The two sisters were twins—both twenty-seven, both busy with work, both neglecting relationships.

After hearing everything, Leo nodded in understanding.

"Alright. How old is she, and what does she look like? If you have a photo, I'll go check tomorrow and see if I can find a way to bring her back."

Before the apocalypse, he might have hesitated.

But now—this was good news.

"Twenty-seven… same as me. She looks like me… maybe a bit more outgoing…" Kristen said, her face reddening slightly.

Leo paused for a moment.

Then his eyes lit up.

Twins.

No matter what—he had to save her.

Not for anything else…

But because someone with her background and skills would be an extremely valuable ally in this apocalyptic world.
