Chapter 106 - Aftermath II

(Ellion's POV)

"Who in the Seven Hells do you think you are, accusing us of treason?!" Tywin Lannister exclaimed as he approached me in the halls, followed by his brothers and his men, "Answer me, you Bastard."

It was several hours later and I assume that the Lannisters had finally returned from their little adventure in the Kingswood. My guess is that someone sent for them and Tywin rode out as quickly as he possibly could.

I had cleaned myself up and had a change of clothes.

"Hm?" I said

He stepped closer to me, giving me a serious scowl, "Whatever it is you have in mind, you best speak it plainly, boy." He said, "And say it to my face."

His brothers had nasty glares on their faces, pointed at me as I stood in front of Tywin. Their men stood behind them, looming over me as if they were trying to intimidate me or something.

It wasn't working.

"Who accused you?" I asked

He jabbed his finger at my chest, "You did." He said, "I hear word of an attack and ride as quickly as I possibly could, and I come to His Grace demanding answers. And so I hear that a certain Bastard Knight has thrown the accusation that I went out to hunt down outlaws and it so happens to allow men to attack the Keep!"

I looked down at the finger, "Take your finger off me."

He scowled, "I will do no such thing." He jabbed it again, "I will not have this, bastard. I will not have a Riverlands bastard Knight accuse me of treason. I ought to have your tongue for even suggesting that and ship you off to the Wall. I will not-"

"I said....take your fucking finger off me." I said with a serious expression, "Or you'll lose it."

His eyes widened with rage, "Y-You dare....!!" He started, "You dare threaten me?!"

"What is going on here?" I heard a voice say

I turned to see Prince Rhaegar being accompanied by Ser Barristan and Ser Arthur walking up to us. The two Kingsguard had serious looks on their faces as Rhaegar approached us.

"Prince Rhaegar." Tywin said, "I've come to confront the boy about his accusation."

"What accusation?" Rhaegar asked

"He dares think that I had something to do with this attack?" Tywin said, facing him completely, "I would have you know, My Prince, that the mere thought is ridiculous. I went out to the Kingswood on orders of the King himself. His Grace told me to take as many of my men as possible, to ensure that the Kingswood was purged of lowlifes."

"I am aware of that." Rhaegar said, "But you see, Ser Ellion's 'accusations' are sound. It is quite convenient that after Three Lords and their forces left, the Red Keep was attacked."

"I understand that, Prince Rhaegar." Tywin said, "But-"

"I would also appreciate it if you would treat Ser Ellion with respect." Rhaegar continued, "He is the one who stopped the attack. The Kingsguard and most of the Targaryen forces were spared from the action."

Tygett scoffed, "A lone bastard? Fight a hundred men?" He said, "I doubt it."

"I don't recall asking you about your doubts, Ser Tygett." Rhaegar said seriously, "I am merely stating the truth of the matter. Ser Ellion fought and stopped the attack, and you were not here."

"Prince Rhaegar, that is because-" Gerion started

"I don't recall asking you to speak up either." Rhaegar said seriously, which caused the idiot to shut up immediately, "Lord Tywin, I must find it within my obligation to tell you that from now on, I am to see you treat Ser Ellion with more respect than you are doing so. He risked his life as a Knight of House Targaryen, protecting the Red Keep"

"Prince Rhaegar....." Tywin started, "You must understand that-"

"His Grace will decide if you or the other Lords were responsible." Rhaegar continued, "You must understand, would you be in our position, you would have the same suspicions."

Tywin clenched his fists, "....very well."

"You may take your leave now." Rhaegar told him, "His Grace, despite being angry about the situation, is in a reasonable mood. If you are to plead your case, go ahead and do so now. Do not bother Ser Ellion."

Tywin turned around and walked past his brother, saying nothing and leaving his men there standing awkwardly. After a few seconds, Tygett and Gerion followed as their men marched behind them.

"Hm...." I said, looking at Rhaegar, "Thanks for the save. But I could've handled it."

"The Red Keep does not need any more bloodshed, Ser Ellion." Ser Arthur spoke up, "You don't seem like the man who would just back down from something like this."

Rhaegar nodded in agreement, "I don't want conflict to arise." He said, "Not at a time like this. The capital is in panic and we need people to understand that the danger has passed. This is not an incident that can be ignored."

I shrugged, "I guess so."

Rhaegar stepped up to me, "You fought to protect the Red Keep." He said, "You have my respect for that. Thank you."

I nodded, "That's not a problem."

Rhaegar looked around, as if seeing if anyone was around, "The Queen has expressed concern for you." He said, "It appears that she did not like the fact that such a young soul would risk himself to fight off a hundred men."

"Oh, is that so?" I said, "Well, I'd appreciate it if you told Her Grace that I am not weak enough to let a hundred men to slay me so easily."

Ser Barristan and Ser Arthur shifted in their feet, I guess they had something to say about that but were holding their tongue.

I don't blame them.

Ser Gerold himself stated that he didn't believe I was capable of doing that by myself and these two were highly skilled warriors, the best of the best. If the Lord-Commander of the Kingsguard found it hard to believe, I don't see why these two wouldn't disagree.

But it's the truth, so I don't really care.

Rhaegar looked at me, "Hm." He said, "I'll make sure to pass along the message."

"Good day to you, Ser Ellion."
