Chapter 776: The Blood Sacrifice of the Tianshi Sect
The front hall of the Tianshi Sect was a cauldron of commotion, its energy boiling over.
At this moment, the sect's elders and disciples were gathered around a single figure, their voices a clamor of excitement and urgent questions.
"Zhang Zhiyun, you've broken through to the Heavenly Master realm?"
"Young Sect Leader, you were gone from the mountain for less than a month, and you're already a Heavenly Master? You are truly the most outstanding successor our Tianshi Sect has seen in a thousand years!"
"Young Sect Leader, your right arm! What happened? How was it broken? Who did this to you?"
"Who would dare to sever the arm of our Tianshi Sect's Young Sect Leader? We will never let them get away with this!"
"Nephew, is the destruction of Yanxia's Yu Clan related to you? The rumors outside claim you were responsible, but your uncle refuses to believe you could commit such a heinous act."
The voices of the Tianshi Sect members swirled around Zhang Zhiyun, each one laced with genuine concern. Some were focused on his newfound cultivation, others on the stump of his right arm—severed by Bai Bing—and still others on the grim rumors surrounding the Yu Clan. Sincerity shone on every face.
Yet, the man at the center of it all, Zhang Zhiyun, looked more like a one-armed swordsman from a tragic tale than a newly ascended Heavenly Master. A long, heavy sword, completely wrapped in bandages, was strapped to his back. His handsome face was a mask of cold, unnerving calm.
"The one who broke my arm is a subordinate of Shen Anyu, the young master of Yanxia's Shen Clan," Zhang Zhiyun stated, his voice flat. "Shen Anyu also stole my fiancée, Ji Xiaolin, and took my younger sister, Zhang Yaqian, away from me…"
Even as he recounted these devastating losses, his expression remained placid, betraying no hint of joy or anger. Only his eyes, deep within their sockets, held a faint, unsettling crimson tinge.
As Zhang Zhiyun's words settled over the hall, the concerned murmurs of the Tianshi Sect members died, replaced by a stunned silence. Then, a wave of righteous indignation and fury erupted.
"What a brazen Shen Anyu! What a despicable young master of the Shen Clan! How dare he harm you so grievously, Young Sect Leader! Our Tianshi Sect will never forgive them!"
"Hmph! Yanxia's Shen Clan may be powerful, but our Tianshi Sect does not fear them!"
"Nephew Zhang Zhiyun, we will see to it that you get justice from the Shen Clan!"
Just then, the Sect Master of the Tianshi Sect, Zhang Tianjiu, rushed into the hall, having heard the commotion. He caught the end of the conversation and his heart ached for his disciple. His face contorted with sorrow, then hardened with rage.
"Zhang Zhiyun, do not worry," he declared, his voice booming with authority. "Your Master will personally help you seek justice. I will make Shen Anyu and the entire Shen Clan pay the price for what they have done!"
Zhang Zhiyun, however, slowly shook his head. His gaze swept over the concerned faces of his sect-mates, his expression still eerily calm. His left hand reached behind him, his fingers closing around the hilt of the great, bandaged sword.
"There is no need. None of you are a match for Shen Anyu…"
Hearing this, Zhang Tianjiu and the other elders opened their mouths to argue, to reassure him of their sect's strength.
But Zhang Zhiyun's next sentence struck them with the force of a physical blow, leaving every single person in the Tianshi Sect frozen in horror and disbelief.
"As long as I kill all of you and offer your blood to the Yin Corpse Devil Sword, I will gain the power I need for my revenge. I will kill Shen Anyu, and I will take back Xiaolin and Yaqian!"
Boom!
The words detonated in the sacred hall like a thunderclap from a clear sky. The shockwave of their meaning stunned every member of the Tianshi Sect into absolute silence.
Zhang Zhiyun… wanted to kill them? To sacrifice their blood to his sword?
"Zhang Zhiyun… what did you just say?" Zhang Tianjiu stammered, his mind refusing to process the words. He stared at his beloved disciple, the one he had pinned all his hopes on, his face a canvas of shock.
In the next instant, Zhang Zhiyun drew his sword.
The motion was a vicious, violent blur. The bandages wrapped around the blade shredded, exploding outwards as the sword was unsheathed. The weapon that emerged was a terrifying thing, its metal stained a deep crimson that was almost black, pulsing with a ghastly, demonic aura.
Whoosh—whoosh—whoosh!
Streaks of fierce, eerie crimson sword light erupted from the blade, weaving through the air like bloody lightning and instantly enveloping the stunned members of the Tianshi Sect.
Pfft, pfft, pfft…
On the majestic plaza before the Tianshi Sect's main hall, crimson flowers of blood bloomed one after another, like hellish spider lilies sprouting from sacred ground.
One by one, the elders and disciples of the Tianshi Sect fell. Their heads were severed from their shoulders, their faces frozen in expressions of utter disbelief as they tumbled into growing pools of their own blood.
From all corners of the hall, threads of fresh, vital blood began to flow, drawn by an unseen force toward the Yin Corpse Devil Sword. The streams of life fed the blade, making its aura even more sinister, its demonic nature swelling to an incredible degree.
Whether they were a True Person, a Great True Person, or even a Heavenly Master, none could withstand the terrifying power of the Yin Corpse Devil Sword.
The Second Elder of the Tianshi Sect reacted a fraction of a second too late, hastily throwing up a magical shield around himself—a barrier so strong that not even a sniper rifle could mar its surface. But the wisp of crimson sword light passed through it silently, without resistance.
The magical shield remained perfectly intact, but the elder behind it was already dead, a thin red line appearing on his throat. The Yin Corpse Devil Swordplay had pierced straight through his defense.
This was the terrifying nature of the Yin Corpse Devil Sword: it could penetrate all forms of energy shields. It was a nemesis not just to spellcasters and martial artists, but even to cultivators of the highest order.
And once pierced by its light, all of a victim's vital blood would be siphoned away by the blade. An unstoppable hemorrhage.
"ZHANG ZHIYUN! ARE YOU MAD?!"
The Sect Master, Zhang Tianjiu, finally snapped out of his shock, his roar of fury and anguish echoing through the hall of slaughter.
He simply could not believe what he was seeing. His prized disciple, the young man he believed would lead the Tianshi Sect into a new golden age, had raised a butcher's knife against his own elders and sect-brothers.
This was his home! The home where he had grown up! These elders and disciples were his closest family and friends!
"Master, don't blame me," Zhang Zhiyun's voice was chillingly devoid of emotion, his eyes now a solid, burning crimson. "Blame the world."
As Zhang Tianjiu stared in disbelief, Zhang Zhiyun's blade pierced his master's heart. The words were a soft whisper that only the dying man could hear.
In less than fifteen minutes, the grand and sacred hall of the Tianshi Sect was transformed into a charnel house, carpeted with thousands of corpses swimming in a sea of blood.
Zhang Zhiyun sat cross-legged at the center of the carnage. The Yin Corpse Devil Sword hovered before him, greedily drinking in the rivers of vital blood that converged upon it. The immense power strengthened both the sword and its master.
In that short span of time, Zhang Zhiyun's aura surged explosively, breaking through the Late Stage of the Land Immortal realm and continuing to climb.
The Yin Corpse Devil Sword before him was even more terrifying, now appearing as if it were forged from solid, congealed blood.
"Shen Anyu," Zhang Zhiyun's low voice echoed in the deathly silent hall, lingering like a curse. "I will let you know what true fear is."

'Zhang Zhiyun truly did not disappoint,' Shen Anyu thought, a faint smile playing on his handsome face—the kind of smile that could make a young woman's heart flutter. He was in an exceptionally good mood.
The Yin Corpse Devil Sword had been successfully tempered, fed by the great fortune of its wielder, the Child of Destiny himself.
And in return, Shen Anyu had received the perfected Sword Intent of the Yin Corpse Devil Swordplay and a corresponding cultivation base to match. It was a bountiful harvest indeed.
With this, Zhang Zhiyun's destiny value was nearly depleted. It was almost time to close the net.
'Bai Bing has also returned,' Shen Anyu mused, sensing a familiar presence reappearing from the Main God Reincarnation Game. 'And she even broke through to the Land Immortal realm? This is truly a day of double happiness.'
His delight grew.
Only Wu Shenyun, standing silently nearby, squeezed her phoenix eyes shut, her beautiful face a mask of deep humiliation.
