A shimmer of light filled the chamber as Alexa's voice resonated, calm yet with a little emotion, "Civilian evacuation protocols engaged. Shield barriers deploying. Medical drones en route. I will not fail them."
Selvig's eyes widened, awe mixing with relief. "She… she speaks like us. Not machine, but heart."
KB nodded, his tone solemn. :"That is why she will save them. Machines calculate, but hearts protect. And today, protection is our greatest weapon."
The Avengers tightened their grips, each role clear. Natasha and Hawkeye prepared to confront Loki, Tony's armor hummed as he readied for the strike, Steve braced for the Chitauri's onslaught, and Selvig steadied himself with Alexa's guidance.
KB stood at the center, his voice carrying across the battlefield like a hymn.
The battlefield shook as Tony landed hard on Stark Tower, Loki sprawled defeated at his feet. The scepter gleamed in his gauntlet, its energy pulsing like a heartbeat.
"Got it. Jarvis, lock containment protocols. Loki's down."
Steve's voice cut through the comms, steady and commanding. "Natasha ,take the scepter to KB and Selvig. They'll close the portal. I'll hold the line against the Chitauri."
Natasha nodded, sprinting across the ruined plaza. She clutched the scepter tightly, weaving past debris until she reached KB and Erik Selvig, who stood before the glowing Tesseract chamber. KB's aura shimmered faintly, his eyes locked on the unstable cube.
Natasha (urgent):"Here. Tell me what to do."
KB accepted the scepter, his voice calm but resolute. "We must align its resonance with the Tesseract. Erik, guide the field. I will deploy countermeasures so its collapse does not tear the city apart."
Selvig's hands trembled as he adjusted the console. "It's unstable… one wrong move and the energy could consume us all."
KB closed his eyes, his resolve weaving into the systems. His voice rang out, commanding yet serene. "Alexa ,deploy all countermeasures. Shield the civilians, stabilize the grid, and redirect excess energy into containment."
A shimmer of light filled the chamber as Alexa's voice resonated. "Countermeasures engaged. Civilian zones shielded. Energy redirection in progress. Portal collapse will be contained."
Natasha glanced at KB, awe flickering in her eyes. "You make it sound so simple."
KB (smiling faintly):"Truth is simple, Natasha. Execution is the challenge."
Outside, Steve raised his shield, rallying the Avengers as waves of Chitauri descended. His voice carried across the battlefield, "Avengers ,hold the line! Give KB and Selvig the time they need!"
The clash of steel and fire echoed, but within the chamber, KB's calm presence anchored them all. The scepter hummed, the Tesseract's glow flickered, and the first signs of collapse rippled across the portal above.
Inside the S.H.I.E.L.D. command room, alarms blared. Fury's one good eye narrowed as the holographic screen flickered to life, the World Council's faces staring back coldly.
Council Member (stern, detached):"Director Fury, the situation is out of control. We have decided ,the nuclear option is the only solution."
Fury slammed his fist against the console, his voice sharp with defiance. "No. You fire that bomb, you kill millions. The Avengers are holding the line. Trust them. Trust my people."
The council's faces remained unmoved. One leaned forward, voice icy. "Your faith in these… vigilantes blinds you. The decision is made."
The line went dead. Fury's jaw clenched. "Damn it."
Moments later, radar lit up ,an incoming jet, armed with a nuclear payload. Fury's instincts flared. He barked orders to his pilots, intercepting the strike. The first jet was stopped, its payload neutralized. Relief flickered ,then vanished. Another blip appeared on the radar. A second jet. The council had anticipated him.
Fury (furious, helpless):"They calculated me… sent another bird. Damn snakes."
His hands trembled with rage, but his voice steadied as he opened comms to Stark. "Stark, listen. The Council's gone rogue. They've launched a nuke straight at Manhattan. I stopped the first, but another's inbound. You've got three minutes—maybe less."
Tony was fighting a group of chitauri soldiers, when his HUD lit up with the incoming trajectory. His face hardened, the weight of Fury's words sinking in. "Great. As if aliens weren't enough, now we've got our own people trying to blow us up."
Fury (angry, desperate):"This isn't a drill, Stark. You stop that missile, or millions die. I can't reach it from here. It's on you."
Tony's armor hummed, his eyes narrowing. "Then I'll take it. Tell the Council they can shove their nuke. The Avengers don't quit."
Fury leaned back, his anger simmering into helpless trust. "God help us all… Stark, don't miss."
The missile streaked across the sky, its trail cutting through the chaos. Tony's armor roared as he accelerated, HUD flashing red warnings. The pilot fired the nuke and immediately reported , '' Nuke already launched , expected descend, two minutes thirty seconds.''
Tony (gritting his teeth):"Alright, let's do this. Jarvis, plot trajectory. We're taking this baby right into the portal."
Jarvis (calm, precise):"Trajectory locked. Sir, may I remind you ,this is a one‑way trip. You should call Ms. Potts."
Tony's breath caught. For a moment, the battlefield noise faded. :"Yeah… you're right. Patch me through."
Far above, in a private jet, Pepper sat by the window, her eyes glued to the news feed. The screen showed chaos in Manhattan ,the Avengers fighting, the portal widening. Her heart clenched.
Pepper (whispering, worried):"Tony… please be safe."
Her phone buzzed faintly on the seat beside her, but her eyes were locked on the broadcast. She didn't notice the incoming call, didn't hear Jarvis's quiet attempt to connect Tony's voice across the distance.
Back in the skies, Tony clutched the missile, straining against its weight as he pushed higher and higher. The portal loomed above, a swirling maw of destruction.
Tony (grim humor, masking fear):"Guess I'm the delivery guy now. Special order—one nuke, straight to the Chitauri mothership."
Jarvis's voice was steady, almost human. "Sir, impact in thirty seconds. You are exceeding safe limits."
Tony (smiling faintly, despite the strain):"Safety's overrated."
The missile pierced the portal, vanishing into the abyss. Tony followed, his armor rattling under the strain. Inside, the Chitauri fleet stretched endlessly, their mothership glowing ominously.
Tony (voice breaking, whispering):"Pepper… I'm sorry."
He released the missile. A blinding flash consumed the mothership, shockwaves tearing through the fleet. The portal shuddered, collapsing in on itself.
On the jet, Pepper gasped as the broadcast showed the portal flickering, the Chitauri falling lifeless. Relief washed over her ,yet her heart twisted, sensing Tony's peril. She glanced at her phone, finally noticing the missed call.
Pepper (softly, trembling):"Tony… you tried to reach me."
The portal collapsed in a storm of light. The Chitauri fleet fell lifeless, their mothership destroyed. But Tony's armor sputtered, his systems failing as he drifted back through the void. Gravity seized him, pulling him down toward Earth, unconscious, helpless.
Jarvis (voice fading, urgent):"Sir… oxygen depleted. Altitude critical. Impact imminent."
The Avengers looked up, horror dawning as Tony's body plummeted from the sky. Steve's voice broke through the chaos. "Stark! He's falling!"
Natasha's eyes widened, Hawkeye's bow lowered,
But before Tony struck the ground, a shimmer of divine light erupted. KB appeared, his aura blazing like a thousand suns. With a single gesture, time slowed, the battlefield frozen in awe. He reached out, catching Tony mid‑fall, cradling him as though holding a fragile flame.
KB (softly, with a hint of mischeivousness):"Not yet, Stark. Your story is not finished, and will never be.''
Tony's eyes fluttered open, weak but alive. "Figures… you'd be the one to catch me. Guess I owe you… again."
KB's gaze was serene, his voice carrying Krishna's cadence. "You owe me nothing. You can give your life for them. I only returned what was already yours ,hope."
The Avengers rushed forward, relief flooding their faces. Steve lowered his shield, his voice trembling with gratitude.
The battlefield was silent, then erupted in cheers. The portal was gone, the Chitauri defeated, and Tony Stark ,saved by KB's divine hand ,stood among his companions once more.
The battlefield was quiet now. The portal had collapsed, the Chitauri fleet lay lifeless, and the Avengers stood amidst the ruins, exhausted but alive. KB's aura had faded into calm, his presence still lingering like a protective flame.
Tony pulled off his helmet, his hair damp with sweat, his face pale but smiling. He looked around at his companions ,Steve steady, Natasha and Hawkeye catching their breath, Thor solemn,
Tony (grinning, voice hoarse):"Well… that was fun. Almost died, saved the world. Typical Tuesday."
Steve raised an eyebrow, half amused, half exasperated. "You call that fun?"
Tony chuckled, then pointed toward the city streets. "Listen, I know a place. Best shawarma in town. We should celebrate. Sit down, eat something greasy, pretend we're normal for five minutes."
Natasha smirked, shaking her head. :"After all this, shawarma sounds… perfect."
Hawkeye lowered his bow, exhaustion etched on his face. "Count me in. I don't care what it is, as long as it's food."
Thor tilted his head, curious. "Shawarma? Is it a feast worthy of Asgard?"
Tony laughed, clapping him on the shoulder. "Trust me, big guy. It's divine."
The streets outside still smoldered, but inside the little shawarma shop, the Avengers sat together, bruised and weary. The owner nervously served them, grateful yet bewildered to host Earth's mightiest heroes.
Plates clattered onto the table. The smell of roasted meat and spices filled the air. For the first time since the chaos began, silence felt comforting.
Tony (grinning faintly, voice hoarse):"See? Told you. Best shawarma in town. Nothing like saving the world and then stuffing your face."
Steve (chewing slowly, then smiling):"Strange… after all that, this feels like the real victory. Just sitting here. Together."
Natasha (smirking, leaning back):"I'll admit… this beats hospital food."
Hawkeye (mouth full, muffled):"Doesn't matter what it is. It's food. And it's amazing."
Thor tore into his shawarma with gusto, grease dripping onto his armor. Thor (booming, delighted):"A feast worthy of warriors! Truly, Midgard surprises me."
At the corner of the table sat KB, his aura faint, restrained, yet still radiant. Beside him, Benjamin—the Sheshnaag incarnate, his eyes glowing faintly with serpentine wisdom. He leaned back, amused, watching Thor devour his shawarma like a feast.
Benjamin (teasing, with a grin):"Thor, if you eat any faster, you'll swallow the plate too."
Thor laughed heartily, nearly choking, while Clint smirked. Natasha rolled her eyes, but her lips curved into a smile.
KB (playful, mischievous):"Careful, Benjamin. If you keep teasing him, he might challenge you to an eating contest. And trust me, you'd lose."
Benjamin chuckled, shaking his head. "Brother, I can fight gods and demons. But against shawarma? I surrender."
The table erupted in laughter, the heaviness of battle melting into camaraderie.
...
The Avengers sat in the S.H.I.E.L.D. briefing chamber, Fury's voice sharp with disappointment.
"The World Council wanted to nuke Manhattan. They didn't trust us. But you proved them wrong. You saved the world. That's what matters."
The silence was heavy. Steve's jaw tightened, Natasha's eyes narrowed, Tony leaned back with arms crossed. Fury's gaze swept across them, then lingered on Thor, who seemed distracted, his eyes flicking toward KB and Benjamin.
Fury (direct, suspicious):"Thor. You look dazed. Something bothering you?"
Thor shifted, his voice hesitant but curious. "Aye… Director. I cannot help but wonder. KB… Benjamin… your powers are unlike any I have seen. You wield no hammer, no armor, yet you bend fate itself. What is the source of your strength?"
The Avengers turned sharply, their eyes widening. They had known KB possessed mysterious power, but Benjamin ,who to the world was simply a "successful nanotech healer experiment" ,was suddenly revealed as something far greater.
Natasha (eyes narrowing, incredulous):"Wait. Benjamin? You mean… he's not just nanotech?"
Clint (leaning forward, stunned):"We thought he was just tech. A healer. That's what the files said."
Steve (steady, but serious):"You kept this from us. Why?"
Benjamin's eyes glowed faintly, serpentine wisdom flickering in his gaze. He spoke calmly, but his words carried weight. "To the world, I am the first person to go through KB's Nanotech healer, a successful experiment. But in truth, I am Sheshnaag incarnate ,KB's eternal Devotee, his guardian. My duty is to shield him, to remind him that even gods need anchors."
The room fell silent. Shock rippled across the Avengers' faces. They had fought beside KB, but now they realized Benjamin was not merely an invention, but a guardian born of myth.
KB (gentle, solemn):"I created the nanotech cover to shield Benjamin's true nature. To the world, he is like Captain America ,an experiment that succeeded. But in truth, he is my brother, my eternal devotee. His power is vast, but hidden, because the world is not ready to see him as he truly is."
Benjamin smirked, nudging KB lightly, his tone mischievous. "And among friends, he shows mischief. Don't let his solemn words fool you ,he enjoys teasing Thor more than saving the world."
Thor chuckled despite himself, shaking his head. "Then perhaps you are more alike than you admit."
The chamber was heavy with silence. Thor's words about the source of power of KB and Benjamin still lingered, but Steve's eyes remained fixed on KB. His voice was steady, but carried the weight of a soldier demanding truth.
Steve (serious, unwavering):"KB… we've fought beside you. We've seen your strength. But what is the source of your power? We deserve to know."
The Avengers turned, their expressions grave. Natasha's gaze sharpened, Clint leaned forward, Tony's smirk faded, and Thor's eyes burned with curiosity. Even Benjamin, standing quietly at KB's side, felt the tension rise.
KB's eyes softened as he looked at them all. Then, slowly, he raised his hand. A faint shimmer rippled through the air, like a veil descending. The room grew tense instantly ,every Avenger stiffened, sensing the gravity of the gesture.
Natasha (tense, whispering):"What are you doing?"
KB (calm, solemn):"Shielding my words. What I am about to say carries great karma. If spoken without restraint, that being may notice. And none of you are ready for that burden."
The silence deepened. Even Fury's jaw tightened, his single eye narrowing.
KB (gentle, resonant):"I am the incarnation of the Supreme Absolute. My power has no limit, for it flows from the eternal source of creation itself. I walk among you as human, but I am truth, wisdom, and love incarnate."
"And Benjamin… is Sheshnaag. The guardian of destiny, the River of Time, and karma itself. Tell me, Thor ,does Asgard have such guardians? Or only feasts?"
The Avengers exchanged stunned glances. Shock rippled across their faces ,Steve's brows furrowed, Natasha's lips parted, Clint's eyes widened, Tony's HUD flickered as though searching for logic, and Thor's grip tightened on Mjolnir.
KB's expression grew serious again, his voice lowering. "I can only say this much. If I explain further, your souls would not withstand the karma. The weight of truth is not for mortals to bear in full. For now, know only this: you are not alone. Destiny itself fights beside you."
The chamber fell silent. The Avengers sat stunned, their eyes locked on KB and Benjamin, realizing the depth of the power that had fought alongside them. Respect mingled with awe, and for the first time, they understood that their companions were not just allies ,but eternal forces woven into the fabric of creation.
The chamber was still, the air heavy after KB's words. His hand lowered, the shimmering shield fading, but the tension remained. The Avengers sat stunned, their eyes locked on KB and Benjamin.
Steve (serious, voice low):"You say you're the incarnation of the Supreme Absolute… that your power has no limit. KB, I've fought wars, I've seen men claim divinity before. But you… you don't speak like them. You speak like someone who carries faith itself. Still, I need to ask ,how can we trust power that even you say carries karma too heavy for us to bear?"
KB's gaze softened, meeting Steve's earnest eyes. "Because I restrain it. Faith without restraint becomes tyranny. I reveal only what is needed, never more. That is my promise to you, Captain."
Tony (leaning forward, eyes narrowing):"Alright, hold up. Nanotech as a healer, Benjamin as Sheshnaag, you as the Supreme Absolute… this is way past my pay grade. I built suits, reactors, tech that bends physics. But you're telling me Benjamin isn't just nanotech ,he's destiny itself? That's not science, that's… something else."
Benjamin chuckled, his tone playful but edged with truth."Science is one language, Stark. Myth is another. KB gave the world nanotech as a veil, so they would see me as an experiment, like Captain America. But beneath that veil, I am eternal. You of all people should know ,sometimes the cover story is the only way the world accepts what it cannot comprehend."
Tony leaned back, lips pressed tight, his usual humor muted. "Guess even I can't engineer an answer for that."
Natasha (eyes narrowed, voice sharp):"You hid this from us. KB, Benjamin ,you fought beside us, but you let us believe Benjamin was just tech. Why? Secrets destroy trust. And trust is all we have."
KB's expression grew serious, his aura faint but steady. "Because the truth carries karma too heavy for mortals. If the world knew Benjamin's nature, that Being would notice. And none of you are ready for that burden. I shielded him with nanotech so you could see him as human, as one of you. Not as destiny itself."
Benjamin's voice softened, protective "Natasha, secrecy was not betrayal. It was mercy. To reveal too much would crush souls under weight they cannot bear. KB carries that burden so you do not have to."
Natasha's lips pressed into a thin line. She looked away, but her silence carried reluctant understanding.
The room was heavy with awe and unease. Steve wrestled with faith, Tony probed science but found no answers, Natasha bristled at secrecy, and all of them looked at KB and Benjamin with newfound seriousness.
Thor (breaking the silence, reverent):"Then you are not merely warriors. You are eternal. Guardians of destiny itself."
KB's eyes twinkled mischievously, his tone lightening the weight. "Careful, Thor. If you keep praising me, I might start demanding offerings in Asgard."
The tension cracked, a ripple of laughter easing the heaviness. Yet beneath it, the Avengers knew: they had glimpsed a truth far greater than themselves, and it had changed everything.
The Avengers' chamber emptied slowly, each hero leaving with their own thoughts heavy on their shoulders. KB and Benjamin lingered for a moment, exchanging a quiet glance before departing. Fury remained behind, alone, his hands pressed against the table.
The silence was suffocating. Fury's single eye stared at the empty seats, his mind racing.
Fury (muttering to himself):"Supreme Absolute… Sheshnaag… guardians of destiny. Damn it. If the Council ever learns what they really are…"
He paced the room, his coat swaying with each step. The Council had already tried to nuke Manhattan. What would they do if they discovered KB was the incarnation of the Supreme Absolute, and Benjamin the guardian of time and karma?
Fury (grim, whispering):"They'd see them as threats. Weapons. Something to control… or destroy. And the Council doesn't hesitate when it comes to control."
He stopped, staring at the holographic map of the world. His jaw tightened.
Fury (resolute, but troubled):"No. This stays buried. The Council doesn't get to know. Not now. Not ever. If they find out, they'll try to chain gods. And gods don't wear chains."
Fury leaned against the table, his voice dropping to a whisper, almost a prayer.
"KB shields his words for a reason. Benjamin hides behind nanotech for a reason. If the Council digs too deep, they'll bring karma down on all of us. And I'll be damned if I let them light that fuse."
He exhaled, heavy and tired, but his resolve hardened.
"This truth stays between the Avengers. The Council can keep their nukes. They'll never touch KB or Benjamin. Not while I'm breathing."
.....
The Avengers gathered in the S.H.I.E.L.D. chamber once more, Fury standing at the head of the table. The screen flickered to life, revealing KB seated calmly in his manor, Benjamin Morgan beside him, both faces lit by the soft glow of the call.
KB (gentle, reassuring):"My friends, I see the weight on your faces. Do not be burdened by what I said earlier. I spoke of my nature only because I consider you comrades ,my friends. You fought beside me, and so you deserve the truth."
Benjamin nodded, his presence calm yet protective.
''That veil was necessary. But you, Avengers, are more than the world. You are family. That is why we revealed ourselves to you."
Fury's brow furrowed, his voice low and tense. "You don't understand the risk. If the Council ever gets wind of this—"
KB's eyes twinkled with mischief, cutting him off with a faint smile. :"Relax, Fury. I've already asked Alexa to edit everything in the room. Every audio, every video—shielded. No one outside this chamber will ever know. Alexa's defenses are layered deep. No one can hack it… except Tony, of course."
Tony raised an eyebrow, smirking faintly. "Nice to know I'm the exception. But don't worry ,I'm not in the mood to play hacker today."
KB chuckled, leaning back. "Good. Because if you did, I'd have to bribe you with shawarma for silence. And I'm not sure the shopkeeper could handle your narcissism."
The table erupted in laughter ,Steve shaking his head, Natasha smirking, Clint chuckling, Thor booming with delight. Even Fury's lips twitched, the tension easing.
KB (gentle, closing):"So, my friends, breathe easy. The truth is safe. Destiny will not be chained, and neither will you. Rest now ,you have earned it."
With that, KB raised his hand in farewell. The screen flickered, the call ending, leaving the Avengers in a chamber filled not with fear, but with quiet relief and the echo of laughter.
...
The waves outside Malibu crashed against the cliffs, steady and indifferent. Inside the glass walls of his manor, Tony Stark sat alone in his workshop, the glow of holograms flickering across his face. The video call had ended ,KB's words still echoing: "I told you this because you are my family."
Tony leaned forward, his hands gripping the edge of the table. His scotch sat untouched. His mind replayed the battle ,the Chitauri swarming, the Council's nuke, KB's aura filling the sky, Benjamin's revelation as Sheshnaag.
Tony (muttering, unsettled):"Supreme Absolute. Guardian of destiny. Karma. And me? Just a guy in a suit. KB trusts me… but what if I let him down?"
He stood abruptly, pacing across the workshop. His paranoia gnawed at him. He remembered the terror in New York, the helplessness when the portal opened. His armor had carried him through ,but barely.
Tony (frustrated, voice rising):"I've built suits, reactors, tech that bends physics.. But KB… he bends fate itself. Benjamin guards time. How do you stand beside that without feeling weak?"
The holograms shifted ,schematics of his Mark series armor, still crude compared to what he dreamed. His mind raced faster than his heart, paranoia fueling invention.
.....
The Malibu manor hummed with servos. Tony stood in his workshop, testing the Mark 42's autonomous assembly. Pieces of armor flew across the room, clamping onto his body with imperfect precision. One gauntlet misfired, smacking him in the chest.
Tony (grumbling):"Yeah, real smooth. but I get sucker‑punched by my own tech."
The holographic screen flickered. KB appeared via video call, leaning casually, his aura faint but his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Tony… I can see it. You've built dozens of suits, but what you're really building is a wall around your fear. Don't let stress eat you alive. You're more than your armor."
Tony smirked faintly, masking his unease. "Thanks for the therapy session. You charging me by the hour, or is this a cosmic freebie?"
KB chuckled, his tone playful. "Freebie. Though if I did charge, I'd probably take payment in arc reactor. They look shinier than gold."
Tony shook his head, half amused, half restless. "Cute. But you didn't call just to watch me get punched by my own gauntlet."
KB's expression softened. "You're right. I wanted to tell you ,I'll be leaving New York for some days. I'm establishing a branch of the Hope Organization in India. It'll take time; they're still catching up in technology. I'll hold a charity gala to support poor children."
Tony raised an eyebrow, sarcasm dripping. "Charity gala in India? Just make sure the money doesn't end up in politicians' pockets. Otherwise, you'll be funding their next yacht."
KB laughed, shaking his head. "Every country has a little corruption, Tony. But there are good people too. And they deserve hope. If something happens, I can handle it easily."
He leaned closer to the screen, his eyes twinkling with mischief. :"After all… I am Tony Stark's friend."
Tony smirked, the tension in his shoulders easing for the first time that night. "Yeah… guess that counts for something."
...
Days passed in a blur. Tony's paranoia only grew ,he doubled the security around himself and Pepper, his sleepless mind convinced danger lurked in every shadow. Happy Hogan, however, was positively glowing. Tony had assigned him to protect Pepper, and Pepper, generous as ever, had granted him the official post of Head of Security.
Pepper walked into the Stark Industries lobby one morning, her eyes catching the new security detail. Guards stood stiffly at attention, their suits emblazoned with a bold emblem that looked more like a cartoon badge than a professional insignia.
Pepper (speechless, muttering):"Oh my god… that emblem looks like it belongs on a kid's lunchbox."
She turned to see Happy beaming, his smile stretching ear to ear.
Pepper (joking, shaking her head):"I'm starting to regret my decision to appoint you as head of the department."
Happy (friendly, shrugging):"Hey, don't regret it. I was bored hanging around Tony all day. At least now I feel like I'm working ,like I've got responsibility."
Pepper sighed, amused despite herself. She pulled out a compact mirror, touching up her face before heading out. Happy watched curiously, his brow furrowing.
"So… are you going to work?"
Pepper hesitated, her tone awkward.:"Not exactly. I'm meeting a senior from my college. He… well, he used to pursue me back then. So it's a little awkward."
Happy's eyes narrowed, his protective instincts kicking in. He fell into step behind her.
Pepper (reminding, exasperated):"Happy, I can handle this meeting. Really."
Happy (stern, refusing):"Nope. I'm your bodyguard now. Head of security. Where you go, I go."
Pepper looked helpless, her lips curving into a resigned smile. "Fine. But don't make this more awkward than it already is."
Happy grinned, straightening his tie with pride.
"Don't worry, Ms. Potts , you can trust me.
Pepper entered the sleek conference room, her presence radiant. Aldrich Killian rose to greet her, his eyes lingering with admiration.
"Pepper… you look absolutely stunning. Time has only made you more remarkable."
Pepper's lips curved into a polite smile, her tone diplomatic. "Thank you, Aldrich. That's kind of you to say."
Happy, standing nearby, frowned slightly. Something about Killian tugged at his memory, though he couldn't place it.
Killian's demeanor shifted, becoming serious. He gestured to a sleek, portable device he carried. With a flick, holographic projections lit the room.
Killian (focused, explaining):"This device connects directly to my brain. What you see here ,this is my mind. This section controls healing. Human injuries heal slowly, leaving us vulnerable to disease. Extremis focuses on enhancing this part of the brain, accelerating recovery."
Pepper leaned forward, listening attentively. "What you describe has advantages, Aldrich. But it sounds very similar to my friend's invention ,Nanotech Healer. Both share the same principle of rapid healing."
Killian nodded, his tone respectful. "KB's invention is brilliant. Nanotech Healer is a marvel. But Extremis is unique ,it doesn't just heal. It awakens the brain's full potential. Humans use only a fraction of their intellect ,two percent, perhaps. Geniuses may reach ninety. Extremis guarantees one hundred percent. Imagine a world where everyone can unlock their true mind."
Happy shifted uncomfortably, pulling out his phone. He quickly video‑called Tony, whispering into the camera.
"Boss, Pepper's with Killian. He's showing her some brain‑tech stuff. Looks… intense."
On the other end, Tony's voice was sharp, wary. "Turn the camera on him, Happy. I need to see his face."
Happy fumbled, embarrassed. "Uh… I can't. I pressed the wrong button—wait—oh no…"
The call disconnected. Happy cursed under his breath, then froze as the memory clicked.
"New Year's Eve… 1999. That's where I saw him. He was crippled then. How the hell did he become so dazzling now?"
He glanced at Pepper, then at Killian, his mind racing.
"This doesn't feel right. And if he's looking at Pepper like that… Mr. Stark might just have a love rival."
...
Tony sat in his Malibu workshop, staring at the holographic screen Jarvis had pulled up. Happy's call had ended abruptly, leaving Tony unsettled.
Tony (muttering, skeptical):"Killian… I really have no impression of him."
Jarvis chimed in, his tone dry and precise. "Perhaps because he is not a beautiful woman, sir. Your memory tends to prioritize differently."
Tony smirked faintly, walking toward his wine cabinet. He poured himself a glass, swirling it. "Maybe I need to be more… Happy."
Meanwhile, in the conference room, Pepper faced Killian with calm composure. Happy stood nearby, still fumbling with his phone.
"My answer is still no, Aldrich. I don't want to create something that could be detrimental to mankind. I've already helped you enough."
Killian's smile faltered, but he masked it with charm. He walked beside her as they exited the building.
"Well, I am a little disappointed. But as my father used to say ,through the fog of defeat one can always glimpse the brilliance of victory."
Pepper laughed lightly, shaking her head. "That's very profound. But honestly, I don't know what it means."
Killian chuckled, his tone self‑mocking. "Neither do I. My father was a fool."
Pepper laughed again, her voice warm but distant. "Well, Aldrich, we'll definitely meet in the future."
Killian's eyes lingered on her, his smile dazzling, but behind it lay ambition.
