Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: The Taste of Reluctant Hunger

Dormitory.

Callisa and Evan had returned from the restaurant visit. The vixen felt growing unease. She stared at Evan's back, wondering what was happening. In her head echoed the words of Dr. Florentine and everything that had occurred at the restaurant. Involuntarily, her gaze dropped to Evan's butt. That juicy, soft little ass. Then, out of nowhere, a thought suddenly appeared in her mind:

"He would make an excellent roast."

She froze for a second.

Evan glanced at her and shook his butt playfully, as if dancing on a pole. Callisa licked her lips. The moment of hesitation vanished completely from her memory. In her mind, she was already picturing him on a plate.

Evan walked over to one of the kitchen cabinets, opened it with a genuine smile. Suddenly, shock appeared on his face. That snapped Callisa out of her daze.

"What happened?"

Evan pulled out a bottle of olive oil. There was only a pitiful amount left at the bottom.

"That's not enough. We need at least a few more bottles." "True."

Evan sighed in disappointment, then suddenly straightened up. "We're missing a few other things too. I'll go buy them."

After a few moments they made a shopping list and the boy left. Callisa waved goodbye to him.

"Come back quickly. I already want to preheat the oven. Though maybe a spit would be better." "Maybe…"

Evan smiled at her and left. The moment he disappeared from sight, it finally hit Callisa.

"What am I thinking!?"

She grabbed her head.

"What am I saying?! What am I doing?!"

She dropped to her knees.

"What's happening to me?!"

Her stomach growled loudly.

After a longer while, she managed to pull herself together and get inside the dorm. She looked around. Aiko and Frida were in the living room.

"Where's Morona?" "In the garden," Aiko replied. When she turned to Callisa, her eyes widened. So did Frida's.

"We have a problem. Emergency meeting."

A moment later, all four of them were sitting around the table. Frida spoke first, sitting confidently with one leg crossed over the other.

"So what's going on, little fox? You look like you ate something really bitter."

Callisa looked them in the eyes. "I… just now… tried to roast Evan."

Silence fell for a moment, then Frida burst out laughing.

"That's nothing unusual. We do that regularly. It always ends with him saying no." "Exactly. There's nothing to worry about."

Aiko wagged her tail and Morona nodded.

Callisa shook her head. "It's not that." She fell silent for a moment. That brief silence felt extremely tense. "Until now, we were always the ones provoking the situations. This time… he provoked me."

They looked at her questioningly.

"I was staring at his ass. Out of nowhere I got the idea for a roast, and then he started shaking it and looking for ingredients."

The girls looked at her in surprise. Frida touched her head as if remembering something.

"Remember when that gang broke in? Evan didn't seem to be getting ready to say 'no' at all."

Aiko swallowed. "What does that mean…"

All the girls looked at each other. Their stomachs growled. They glanced down at them with concern.

Callisa summarized the meeting at the restaurant for them.

"He agreed to a meat evaluation himself?" "He's proud of his meat rating?" "The elites are already hunting him and he's getting excited about it?"

All of them sank deeper into their seats.

Morona spoke with clear worry in her voice: "When fear is but a distant mist and a wretched mirage, fear has no place. When fear departs, what remains?"

"Alright. Let's calmly summarize everything," Aiko said, waving her hands. "Evan isn't afraid of being eaten, he's proud of his meat quality, and he's provoking us… doesn't this sound like a bad route in a dating sim?"

"Maybe it's stress," Frida said, though she didn't sound convinced herself.

"Habit is second nature," Morona added, looking clearly unsettled.

Callisa's ears suddenly drooped. "Remember what Morona's mother said?"

Now fear appeared on all their faces. To make matters worse, they began to feel hungry. Their appetite directed their desire toward one specific dish… Evan.

They all looked at each other. In each of their eyes was the same question: "If Evan starts provoking us, will we be able to stop ourselves?" After a tense silence, they all shook their heads.

"Where's Evan?" Callisa grabbed her head. "He went out for ingredients!!!"

"You let him go alone when the whole city is hunting him?!" All the girls shouted at her. The vixen herself couldn't believe what she had allowed.

Frida let out a long breath. "We still have some time. We need a plan and we have to be united." She looked at them with complete seriousness. "I think we all agree on one thing. Evan is super delicious, soft, juicy, flavorful…" She suddenly fell silent and slapped her own cheeks. "What am I saying… Anyway… We know Evan's qualities, but we don't want to lose our boyfriend. Right?"

They all nodded. They had so many beautiful memories of living together. They didn't want to end it for one meal. Although that resolution was becoming thinner by the minute.

"We have a bigger problem than the city. We ourselves might lose control," Aiko said, twitching as she spoke.

"Alright. When Evan comes back, we need to have a serious talk with him."

Aiko froze. "Ingredients… Cooking…"

All the girls froze. What if Evan started provoking them when he returned?

Morona pulled out her smartphone and showed them the date on the calendar. "Full moon. Candles. Date."

They all breathed a sigh of relief. That was a good excuse. Evan always cared about the atmosphere of their dates, so he would definitely agree to wait until the full moon for the right setting.

"Good. We wait for Evan to return. We charm him with the full moon idea if he starts causing problems. We have a serious conversation."

Frida began speaking, but Aiko interrupted: "Not a single word about meat, cooking, or anything that could push him deeper into the evil route."

Callisa finished: "If it gets bad, we send him to Morona's mother."

They all breathed easier. They had a plan. They just had to wait for Evan.

They waited.

And waited.

"Where is he?" Frida started getting impatient. Patience was not her strong suit. "When he gets back, I'm going to beat his ass like a pork chop."

As soon as she realized what she had said, she slapped her own leg. "What the hell am I saying?!"

The girls didn't answer. They stared anxiously at the door.

Suddenly a phone rang. The message was from Evan. They all jumped as if burned. Each tried to grab the device. It flew through the air for a moment. Finally, Callisa managed to answer.

"Evan? When are you coming back?" "Girls… well… the Serranos caught me."

A dead silence fell, then—

"WHAT!?" "The Serranos caught me. Don't worry. Everything is legal." "How do you mean… caught you?" "Yes. Legally. The Serranos were kind enough to invite you all to dinner with me. The limousine should arrive for you shortly." "Evan, what—" He hung up.

They all stared at the screen. Frida spoke first. "Can we do anything about this?" "With the Serranos? I doubt it…" Callisa's ears drooped. "OP?" Aiko asked, looking worried. "Mega OP…" Callisa replied, completely dejected.

Suddenly there was a knock at the door. The girls opened it. Outside stood a tall rabbit in a tailcoat, holding a tray with four envelopes.

"I presume the young ladies: Callisa Vulpine, Frida Vollmond, Nekogawa Aiko, and Morona Florentine."

The girls nodded. The rabbit presented the tray to them.

"I am Emilio Velasco, butler of the distinguished Serrano family. On behalf of my master, Alejandro Serrano, I invite you to a reception at the hunting club, where the successful hunt of the second son of the family, Mateo Serrano, will be inaugurated."

The girls took the envelopes. They were deep purple with text written in golden letters. Yes… these were formal invitations.

They looked at each other.

"Please do not worry about attire. We have appropriate evening wear available at the club." The butler stepped aside and gestured toward the limousine. "Please. We shouldn't keep Don Serrano waiting."

The girls got into the car, which pulled away smoothly. Their faces said only one thing: they couldn't keep up with what was happening.
