At the peak of the clouds, Aomori pressed his hand against Rayquaza's head, using Holy Light to heal its injuries.
"Rayquaza, if you leave this place, are there other Rayquaza to take your spot?"
"Roar," Rayquaza let out a cry.
Strangely, despite being a Tier 1 Legendary, Rayquaza didn't seem to possess Telepathy. Even "cute" Pokémon like Latias and Shaymin had it. Perhaps only the most unique Rayquaza truly qualifies as a Tier 1 Legendary with comprehensive abilities beyond the rest of its kind.
Aomori could grasp its general meaning: their territories were won through struggles with other Rayquaza. If a spot became vacant, another would soon take over. Thus, there was no need to worry about damage caused by meteors.
"I see," Aomori nodded. "Then come with me. Staying cooped up here forever isn't good for you anyway."
"Roar." Rayquaza signaled that it was only interested in the human capable of defeating it, not that it was leaving because of boredom.
"I get it." Aomori gave it a knowing look.
Simply put, this Rayquaza wanted a change of scenery. It just so happened to run into him and was now "forced" to leave the sky. Protecting the heavens was an indelible instinct carved into Rayquaza's being, both a duty and a shackle. Spending hundreds of years with only meteors for company made for a dull life compared to the wandering Ho-Oh, Lugia, or Mew. It was no wonder it wanted to "skip work."
"Let's go." Aomori sat upon the dragon's head and pointed downward. "Launch!"
"Roar!" Rayquaza let out a draconic cry, weaving its elegant body through the air as it dived in the direction Aomori pointed.
…
Inside the Hikōkyū, Sabrina was training Metagross when a piercing alarm suddenly blared.
"Warning! Warning! High-energy biological entity approaching the fortress at high speed!"
"High-energy biological entity?" Sabrina frowned. With a flick of her wrist, she vanished from Metagross's sight. Feeling the air flow again, Metagross sighed in relief and slumped to the floor.
Sabrina appeared on the top deck. Pidgeot was already circling ahead of the fortress, looking as if it were facing a formidable foe. Mewtwo, Absol, Ditto, and Darkrai appeared one after another, all wearing grave expressions.
"What a powerful aura." Mewtwo looked intrigued, its battle spirit instantly ignited.
On the horizon, a black dot grew larger, screaming toward them.
"Sol." Absol's expression suddenly relaxed as it let out a soft call.
"Is it Aomori?" Sabrina understood Absol's meaning.
"Hmph. Maybe the kid provoked a powerful enemy and got chased back here," Mewtwo quipped. The other Pokémon shook their heads; Aomori wasn't someone who was easily defeated.
Soon, the true form of the black dot was revealed.
"A Pokémon?"
"Never seen one like that before."
"Aomori is sitting on its head."
The Pokémon chatted via Telepathy. Beside them, Sabrina's eyes widened. She murmured, "That is the Lord of the Skies, Rayquaza... a Legendary Pokémon."
Aomori meets Legendaries way too easily. Is he Arceus's illegitimate son? In her mind, Aomori had officially become a "Legendary Man."
"Lord of the Skies? Arrogant." Mewtwo hated seeing other Pokémon act more "cool" than itself. It immediately charged an Aura Sphere and fired it.
Being attacked out of nowhere, the short-tempered Rayquaza wasn't about to take it lying down. It fired back with a Dragon Rage. The two attacks collided mid-air, annihilating each other.
"You have some skill. Do you dare fight me properly?" Mewtwo flew out, hovering before Rayquaza.
"Roar!" Rayquaza barked back.
"Wait, I'm in too!" For some reason, Pidgeot felt annoyed looking at Rayquaza and stepped forward.
"Two against one isn't fair. I'll help the newcomer." Ditto transformed into Charizard and stood on Rayquaza's side.
Absol stayed put, while Darkrai silently pulled out the Portable Camcorder.
"I don't mind if you fight, but do it far away from here," Aomori said before teleporting next to Sabrina.
"Follow me if you want to scrap." Mewtwo led the way into the distance, with Rayquaza and the others hot on its heels.
"Is this okay?" Sabrina asked, looking at Aomori.
"It's fine. Let them fight. That's how Pokémon friendships are built," Aomori said with a smile. "As the saying goes, 'No fight, no friendship.'"
"Oh."
"Forget about them. Let's go back to the room."
"Huh?"
"When I used Teleportation just now, there was a bit of incoordination. Walk me through it again."
"Oh."
The two went back to the room hand-in-hand. Absol yawned and went to find a nap spot, while Darkrai vanished. As for the four brawling Pokémon, they found a safe area and went at it.
At first, Mewtwo didn't care about teams and attacked everyone. Rayquaza focused mostly on Mewtwo and partially on Pidgeot, completely ignoring Ditto since it hadn't attacked. Pidgeot had it the worst, taking hits from two Legendaries and being blindsided by Ditto, making it the first to tap out. Ditto followed suit.
The two remaining Legendaries finally went all out. They fought until the sky turned dark and the winds howled, scattering clouds for a thousand miles. After a full day of battle, Mewtwo, true to its title as the strongest, managed to take down Rayquaza, though it was heavily injured itself.
"Rayquaza, Lord of the Skies... I, Mewtwo, acknowledge you," Mewtwo said, looking down from above. Those it acknowledged were few: Mew, Aomori, and now Rayquaza.
Rayquaza rolled its eyes and said nothing. It was frustrated; it hadn't faced a decent opponent in years, and today it had been humbled twice. Receiving no response, Mewtwo didn't care. It glanced at a shadow nearby, said nothing, and flew away.
The shadow squirmed and turned into Darkrai. Holding the camcorder, its face remained stoic, but the twinkle in its eyes betrayed its amusement.
…
"Success. The Mega Stone Detector." Mewtwo looked at the device it had built with a proud smile.
Aomori, witnessing this, nodded slightly and sighed. "It's time to leave."
He found Sabrina training Metagross. "I have to step away for a bit. I'll be back soon."
Sabrina stopped and looked at Aomori for a long time before smiling. "Go on."
"Mhm."
Aomori packed his things and said goodbye to Latias, Shiny Charizard, and the others. He recalled Mewtwo and the others into his system inventory and teleported outside the fortress. He looked at the Hikōkyū one last time and vanished.
…
Inside a familiar underground secret room, Aomori appeared. He exhaled slowly and checked his phone for the time.
"It's almost afternoon..."
This dungeon run hadn't been too long or too short, about two months. The Pokémon world was the dungeon he had visited most, and the one that felt the best. After a brief moment of sentimentality, Aomori released Mewtwo.
Mewtwo looked around immediately. "Is this the 'other world'?"
"Yes. This is a completely different world from the Pokémon world. You can find the specifics here." Aomori handed it a tablet. "You know how to use this, right?"
"Obviously. Don't underestimate me." Mewtwo's eyes glowed silver as it levitated the tablet and began operating it skillfully.
"Read up. I'll check on you in a bit." Aomori left the room.
"Heroes? Monsters? A world full of crisis? Interesting." Mewtwo browsed the web, quickly learning the basics. "Aomori, Chairman of the Hero Association? Hmph, I didn't expect him to be such a big shot here."
Mewtwo filtered for the important bits and finished quickly. Seeing Aomori hadn't returned, it left the room itself. Using its omnipotent telekinesis, it easily reached the second basement level. The area was empty of people but filled with equipment.
"Is this a lab?" it muttered. "Hm? A familiar sensation... a Pokémon?" It floated toward the source of the feeling.
After passing through several security doors, Mewtwo reached the depths of the lab. It saw a human in a white coat and a large gorilla. The gorilla's senses were sharp; it noticed Mewtwo and turned around. Seeing the non-human figure, it shouted in shock, "A monster? How did a monster get in here?"
"I am no monster," Mewtwo replied. With a wave of its hand, it pulled a patterned giant egg from their table to itself. "Where did you get this?"
Mewtwo sensed a familiar life force inside, undoubtedly a Pokémon egg.
"Hey! Be careful! Don't break it! I spent a lot of time cultivating that!" Dr. Genus cried out, his face turning pale. He wasn't worried about his own safety, this was the Hero Association Headquarters, after all, but he feared for his work.
In the next second, he and Armored Gorilla were lifted by an unknown force and pinned in mid-air, unable to move. Mewtwo's eyes shimmered. "Answer my question."
Gulp!
Crap, this guy is a heavy hitter. Better save my skin first. Dr. Genus swallowed hard. "The Chairman... Chairman Aomori gave me some biological tissue, and I cultivated it into this egg."
"Aomori? Tell me everything."
"Yes!"
…
When Aomori finished his business and found Mewtwo in the lab, it was reviewing Dr. Genus's research papers. The doctor and the gorilla stood respectfully to the side, not daring to breathe. Seeing Aomori, they nearly wept with joy: Finally, we're saved!
"How did you find your way here?" Aomori asked.
"You were planning on putting me here anyway, weren't you?" Mewtwo said, looking up.
"Yes." Aomori pointed to the two. "This place is under your management now. They are too. You can order them around as you wish. Just don't cause trouble; hundreds of people are working upstairs."
"Eh?" Dr. Genus and Armored Gorilla were stunned, but they didn't dare object. They bowed their heads in submission.
"The people are fine. The lab is too small," Mewtwo said.
"A new lab is almost finished. We'll move then. It's over ten times larger than this."
"Good."
"Do your experiments here. If you want to go out, remember to disguise yourself. You know you look quite a bit like a monster."
"Suit me fine. I don't want people bothering me."
"On that point, rest easy. This is the Hero Association; no one will disturb you," Aomori said confidently.
Just as he spoke, the ground shook. Aomori kept his smile. "An earthquake. A common natural phenomenon."
"This doesn't feel like—mmph!" The blunt Armored Gorilla tried to speak, but Dr. Genus covered its mouth.
Aomori glanced at them and said, "Keep working hard. I have things to do." He vanished.
Outside the Hero Association Headquarters, he found several monsters attacking the building. They had black wings and long noses, looking like Karasu-Tengu. They were likely the "Sky King" underlings or some such trash.
Aomori didn't want to bother with such small fry. He released Rayquaza to show them what a true King of the Sky looked like.
Rayquaza's massive form immediately caused a greater commotion. The Tengu monsters were scared half to death by its pressure before being sent to join Deep Sea King by a single Hyper Beam. Afterward, Rayquaza let out a long roar and, following Aomori's signal, flew into the clouds and vanished.
For a being as capable of self-preservation as Rayquaza, Aomori gave it a lot of freedom. It could appear here because Aomori had spent a massive amount of Points using the Strengthening Frog to upgrade the Master Ball to LV9, unlocking the permission to bring it back to the One Punch Man world.
The space inside the Master Ball had become vast. According to Rayquaza, there were mountains and water inside, and it liked it very much. Furthermore, it could now store other objects, functioning like a storage ring. This was a huge surprise for Aomori, making the spent points feel less painful.
Having gathered his six great battle pets, Aomori realized he now possessed the power to face the Monster Association head-on. However, there was still the unknown strength of Orochi. [1]
"To be safe, I'll wait a bit longer." Aomori looked up at the sky. "The time for the Monster Association's destruction is not far off."
[1] The raw says Number 17 and not Orochi. I don't know if it's a typo or a nickname that fans made in china for a certain monster, but I think it's Orochi. Or maybe God.
