Morning in Olympus Academy tasted like cold steel and lightning. Bells rang across the courtyard, vibrating through marble like a heartbeat. Students marched toward their respective halls — Zeus disciples crackling with thunder, Apollo students shimmering like sunlight, Ares warriors wearing scars with pride. The air smelled of ozone, sweat, ambition.
Kairo shoved a piece of bread into his mouth while walking, completely unbothered. Selene followed beside him, hair loosely tied, calm as ever — the moon to his chaos.
"You should at least chew before you talk," she scolded lightly.
Kairo spoke with bread still in his cheek.
"Why? Bread soft. Throat big."
She stared at him like she was reconsidering her life choices. "Sometimes I wonder how someone this unserious becomes a monster in battle."
Kairo grinned. "Duality, my dear."
Students glanced at them, whispering. They were new. Strong. Suspicious. Word of the spar with Eleni had already spread like wildfire.
Inside the main hall, a huge mural showed Zeus slaying the Primordial Serpent. Rumor said the Academy principal was a direct descendant, carrying a sliver of the god's Aether. That alone could annihilate towns.
A young boy wearing Ares red armor shoved past them.
"Move, newbies," he spat.
Kairo turned slightly, eyes narrowing for half a second.
Selene placed a hand on his wrist. "We're infiltrating."
He exhaled.
"For now," he whispered coldly.
They reached the lecture hall where a tall instructor in a thunder-patterned robe stood. His name was Professor Adrastos, aura heavy like rain before a storm.
"You two are the outsiders," he said, voice rumbling. "Show me you belong here."
A display of Aether-cubes floated before him — glowing, swirling.
"Absorb one. Stabilize its core. Fail and it explodes."
Students flinched at the word. Aether explosions caused internal damage. Even prodigies feared them.
Kairo stepped forward without hesitation.
Selene grabbed his sleeve. "Don't be reckless."
He smiled — slow, confident. "When am I ever reckless?"
She blinked at him.
"Always."
But he was already touching the cube.
The moment his fingers grazed its surface, Aether roared. Lightning surged through the room. Students gasped at the sudden spike. Too much. Too chaotic. It would burst.
Adrastos narrowed his eyes.
"He can't control that—"
Kairo inhaled. His aura flared — silver-black, faint, but ancient. He didn't suppress it — he shaped it. His expression shifted. Calm. Still. Cold like Itachi in a battlefield.
Aether compressed.
The cube shrank, stabilized, glowing like a tiny star dancing on his palm.
Silence swallowed the hall.
Adrastos' brows lifted. "What technique… was that?"
Kairo shrugged.
"Breathing."
Selene elbowed him subtly. "Show some respect."
Kairo looked at the professor, face innocent.
"Sir, may I sit now? My bread is getting cold in my pocket."
Some students burst into laughter. Others glared with envy. Rumors now changed — from mysterious to dangerous.
Selene took her turn. Her cube pulsed like moonlight. She closed her eyes, whispered soft lunar incantations, and the energy flowed smooth, gentle, flawless.
Elegant. Controlled. Beautiful.
Adrastos nodded approvingly.
"You two may join intermediate class… for now."
The class continued with lessons about Greek lineage. Kairo listened — partly. Mostly he scanned the room. Counting threats. Ranking prodigies. Gathering information like a hunter marking prey.
He noticed three figures stronger than the rest:
Eleni — Apollo's golden archer.
Theron — Ares berserker with scarred knuckles.
Lysandros — Zeus class leader. Calm… too calm.
Those three were the pillars of Olympus Academy.
If Kairo wanted information, he needed proximity.
Later, during combat drills, Theron approached with a smirk sharp enough to cut bone.
"So, shadow-boy. Want a real fight?" He slammed his fist together, aura flaring red like molten iron.
Selene whispered, "Keep it low. We can't stand out too much."
Kairo rolled his neck.
"I can try."
Students circled like wolves smelling blood. The arena floor gleamed again.
Theron charged first — fast, brutal — like a hammer swung by a god. Each strike left red burning trails. Kairo dodged with minimal movement — head tilt, step back, lazy lean. Calm. Mocking without words.
Theron snarled. "Stop dodging and fight!"
Kairo's eyes sharpened — predator awakened.
"You asked for a spar, not a murder."
Theron roared and unleashed Ares Rage — aura exploding violently. Pressure hit like a wave. Some students staggered back.
Selene tensed.
Kairo, don't—
But Kairo moved.
One instant he was still — next he was inside Theron's guard. Aether coiled around his hand like smoke.
He whispered, voice cold enough to freeze fire,
"You leave your right side open when angry."
His palm struck Theron's chest — not with power, but precision. Aether needle-point.
Theron flew back, crashing into marble, aura destabilizing but bones intact. Controlled. Perfect.
Students screamed.
Adrastos stood, breath caught. "Impossible—"
Kairo stepped back, hands in pockets again.
"Spar over. Bread still warm."
Eleni stared at him — no longer annoyed. Intrigued.
"You're hiding something, aren't you?"
Kairo smiled faintly. "Aren't we all?"
From the balcony, Lysandros watched with narrowed eyes.
"He's strong… too strong to be random."
Suspicion grew.
But admiration too.
That night, Kairo and Selene snuck into the restricted archives — moonlight painting them silver. They moved through shadows like whispers. Dual-aura sealed. Footsteps silent.
Inside, scrolls glowed with divine seals. They found what they came for — Clan structure records. God-line hierarchy. Forbidden history.
Sensi's target. Their mission.
Selene whispered, "We shouldn't take too much. One scroll is enough."
Kairo nodded — but another scroll's title froze him.
"The Child of Ruin. Last Vessel of the Primordial Chaos."
His heart stopped for a beat.
The picture…
The marking on the vessel's arm…
Looked like his.
Selene noticed his trembling hand. "Kairo?"
He forced a smile. "Just curious story stuff. Let's move."
But his eyes lingered.
Longer than he should.
Fear. Confusion. Buried deep.
They left quietly — but as they slipped out through the shadows, a figure appeared behind them, unseen yet smiling.
Lysandros.
"I knew you weren't ordinary," he whispered to the empty hall.
"But what are you really, Kairo?"
Moonlight flickered — and his eyes glowed electric blue.
Far away in his throne of black flame, Malrukh smiled wider.
"The pieces move. Let the world breathe ignorance a little longer. When the truth dawns… despair will taste divine."
The war drums were beating.
The gods just didn't hear them yet.
