Kiara slowly pushed herself off the shattered rock and rose to her feet, her movements sluggish as fragments of molten stone slid from beneath her boots and tumbled down the cracked slope with soft scraping sounds. Meanwhile, the hot air around her trembled from lingering waves of energy that still had not completely dispersed from the battlefield.
"What the hell just happened?" she muttered in a dazed voice as she looked around at the devastation. "Just ten seconds ago, I was…"
Her thoughts abruptly stopped there.
