Rose could stand there, confused as to why a moroi vampire is beating wendigos up, or she could just start killing them.
"I thought you could use a little help," he says in a British accent and then he kicks one in the nuts and they go falling, holding their crutch. Rose seriously did not need any fucking help. She wanted to do this on her own, like most of the Lockwoods did, hell even her father passed his test when he killed up to fifty strigoi vampires, with no help!
She could kill this vampire and get her mark easily but sadly it doesn't work that way, a moroi vampire isn't a monster even though they drink blood. They're just not as evil as strigoi vampires.
"Uh, I think this is the part where you start killing them miss werewolf lady," he says and that snaps Rose out of her inner thoughts.
She joins the moroi to fight the vampires as she kills them with a fireball and they scream as they burn to death turning to ashes.
"Holy cow! I thought you were a werewolf." The moroi asks, confused as fuck, but he doesn't look at her with fear like the rest of them; he looks at her with so much awe, and it seems like he thinks it's awesome.
Rose doesn't care; this vampire isn't supposed to be here, not just this club but this town. Moroi vampires usually stay in Europe, where it's cloudy. The last time she saw a moroi vampire, he killed her parents.
Which is why Rose was so confused when she found out that a moroi vampire was not a monster like a strigoi vampire, but she was also understanding. She hated to admit that she could understand the person who murdered her parents.
But yeah, she did a little.
He was alone, and he was called a monster before he was even born. So was Rose, unlike her, he was the only hybrid in the world now it's just Rose.
Rose does what she came here to do: to kill wendigos.
They're currently in their human form, with sharp teeth and pitch black eyes. It would be harder to defeat them in their monstrous form, but she can still take them. Obviously.
For every wendigo she throws a punch at, she turns them into ashes.
"That was bloody brilliant!" the moroi says and then when she realizes that there are no more wendigos to kill, Rose tackles the moroi to the ground.
"Bloody hell!"
"Who are you and why the fuck are you here?"
"Wow, you're so pretty. Has anyone ever told you how pretty you are?" he looks at her with so much admiration.
"What?"
"Uh, nothing, I mean, no one sent me. I came here all on my own. I'm Damien, I'm new here what's your name?" he smiles not acknowledging the fact that there's a scary hybrid on top of him right now. But he's not scared at all, he looks at her like he has a crush on her.
And it's quite strange because Rose would have punched him by now but he's not bad looking at all, he's quite pretty.
The light blond hair, full pink lips, sharp jawline and the way he smiles, his lips go up to his eyes when he does, something Rose barely does. And it's also strange how the eyes that belonged to her parents' murderer intrigue her.
What is happening right now? Why doesn't she want to get up? Why is she staring at this man? It does feel like they've met before, but that can't be possible. Rose would have known him immediately, she doesn't have a bad memory.
Sometimes she wishes she did have a bad memory, so then she wouldn't have to remember her parents. Their dead bodies still haunt her dreams.
The moroi puts on a simple, small smile. "I'm a friend, I promise," he says and his voice calms her down a bit. But that doesn't stop her from staring at him.
Come on, Rose, get up from this boy. What is keeping you on top of him?
She wonders.
Yes, moroi vampires aren't necessarily a threat, they're the only monsters witches and werewolves aren't allowed to kill that's if they don't cause trouble.
If they do then they're dead. This one doesn't seem to be causing any kind of trouble that would lead her to killing him.
She knows the difference between a moroi vampire and a strigoi vampire.
A moroi vampire is born, a strigoi vampire is made.
Moroi vampires yield the four elements, water, fire, earth and air, strigois don't.
Moroi vampires are strong and fast but strigoi vampires are stronger and faster.
Moroi vampires are mortal; strigoi vampires are immortal.
Moroi vampires can walk under the sun but being under it too much can make them weak unless they wear sunglasses. Strigoi vampires die under the sun.
Gold can kill a moroi with ease, what can kill a strigoi is wood.
Moroi's drink blood but in a civilized way, some of them rather drink animal blood, but strigoi kill humans while drinking blood.
A moroi's humanity is intact but a strigoi not so much.
A moroi was always a moroi but a strigoi was once a human or morois who kill humans while drinking human blood.
Moroi's have angelic silver eyes, strigoi's have scary blood red eyes.
Witches and werewolves are allowed to kill strigois, but morois aren't meant to be killed.
Rose knows all these things, if she wants to be a full time monster hunter she has to learn about all the supernatural creatures. Her brain might be filled with knowledge but she learns new things everyday.
"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?" Thank God for that voice because Rose gets up immediately and so does Damien.
The wendigos aren't all dead after all.
He looks at his friends' ashes and then shoots a vicious eye at Rose and Damien.
"You two did this? You…" he points at Rose. "I am so sick and tired of you witches and werewolves coming to destroy everything." he yells viciously.
"Oh, he's angry." Damien says. Rose doesn't pay him any attention because her focus is on the angry wendigo.
"Cease them!"
And out of nowhere a bunch of wendigos wrap their arms around Damien and Rose. They struggle but they don't really try because they're so focused on the wendigo in front of them to make a sound.
His bones breaks and he twists and turns. Rose knows what this is, she knows what's going on. He's turning into his true form.
"That can't be good." Damien says.
No Moroi, it's not.
The wendigo grows taller, his body way skinnier and skeletal, his antlers pop up on his head, his nails extremely long, and teeth sharp enough to tear through an obese person's skin.
The wendigo screams, and it's so loud but Rose hopes it's not loud enough to alert the humans dancing in the club.
Rose knows they're cooked. She doesn't speak wendigo but she does know what he wants to do, he's about to rip their faces off.
He's saying. "YOU'RE GONNA REGRET THAT!"
Rose struggles to be free from the wendigos holding her so she can fight fully. She finally gets free and she scratches one with her claws, he screams, black blood comes out of his face. She mutters a spell and the wendigo screams even louder when he catches fire.
The bigger wendigo grabs Rose, his long nails piercing through her skin. Rose moans, there's no point to struggle because his grip is just too strong and vicious.
The wendigo opens his mouth to devour her. But she doesn't know what to do. She can't stay focused to cast a spell right now. Her magic is too powerful, if she does the wrong thing she'll set this whole club on fire and she'll fail.
It seems like she's failing anyway.
This can't be the end. She has to do something.
She has to fight this thing and win, she has to pass her test, but right now she feels so fucking weak.
That's until she's not weak anymore.
In fact the wendigo has dropped her her legs are on the ground. She coughs letting it all go, her wounds close up and she stands so quickly and then looks up at the wendigo. Something ain't right.
The wendigo seems to be very distracted, swatting his hands in the air like he's being attacked by birds or insects. Rose can't see anything. Is there something about wendigos she doesn't know or is this one just bipolar?
"Hurry up, kill him I can't hold it for that long." she looks at Damien, the moroi vampire and he seems to be the one doing something because even the wendigos holding him hostage are distracted.
Damien's eyes aren't silver anymore, but they're pure white and blood is coming out of his nose.
What the hell?
"Hurry!" he yells and Rose does what he says. She closes her eyes and cast a spell that sets the wendigos on fire. They all scream, and at this rate people will definitely hear it so Rose cast another spell that makes the room extremely sound proof.
She's always preferred combat classes for werewolves, she never really liked learning how to use magic, because sometimes her magic is unpredictable.
But she thanks the gods that she learned something.
The wendigos turn to ashes and everything goes back to normal. Rose quickly fixes her gaze at Damien, his hands are on his knees as he breathes in and out, he stands straight and brings out a white hankerchief from his pocket.
"Bleeding in front of a cute girl." he wipes. "That's embarrasing."
"What are you?" Rose asks.
"Huh? well I'm a vampire."
"No, are you also a witch? You're a hyrbid."
"What? No I'm not."
Well, there goes the hope that Rose had. She's still the only one in this world.
But this still doesn't make sense.
"But I know what you moroi vampires do, they have the power of the four elements."
"Well, it seems like you don't really know much, because there's a fifth element called spirit and I happen to be one of the rare moroi vampires who have it."
Spirit.
Rose made it her mission to learn about vampires after one killed her parents, that vampire was a witch but his elemental vampire power was air and she's never heard about a fifth element called spirit.
This is the first time she's hearing of such a thing.
"So you're not a hybrid."
"No, beautiful. But you are which is so cool. Back home there were rumors about a witch werewolf hybrid living in a town in New York but I thought it was all bullocks, but here you are. The rumors are true." he shakes his head, his eyes not leaving Rose. Rose stares at him as well.
Damien moves closer and closer and Rose gives him a look but doesn't stop him.
"I'm Damien Ivanov, you are."
Rose shouldn't tell him her name, but what's the point? They're probably not going to see each other again, she hopes.
"I'm Rose. Thanks for the help." if not for him she would have failed her test or died.
"You're welcome my little rose."
"What did you just call me?" Rose snaps.
"My little rose."
Rose scoffs, giving him a death glare. Damien giggles.
"What? It's not my fault you're beautiful." he plays with her hair.
Rose smacks his hand. "Ow!"
"Listen, Moroi I don't appreciate being touched okay?"
"Uh, okay, I've got to go," he says, looking at his watch and walking away. "But I have a feeling we'll see each other again." he takes Rose's hand and plants a kiss on the back of her palm. If it were any other guy, she would have gone completely bonkers on him. She doesn't know what's so different about this one.
"Till we meet again, my little Rose," he winks and then he disappears.
Vampire speed.
Rose just stands there trying to process what the fuck just happened, but she doesn't dwell on it for long cause she feels a sharp pain on her right arm and she rolls up her sleeve to see a magical mark forming on her arm.
She did it. She passed her test.
