Where was the dragon?
Could it be the boss?
...
Yes, indeed it was the boss.
"Are you listening?" the anime girl asked me.
I turned the wooden face into a smile.
"Yeah, I am listening continue your story."
She looked unconvinced and stared at me in thought wondering about the difference. But what difference?
Maybe difference between the Yun she knows and the Yun without her memories, except she doesn't know I don't have my memories.
A look of horror dawned on her face and she shot up. Her hands trembled and she turned away, "Rajoff, Rajoff, he's gone. I need to look for him."
She looked back at me, "Yun, you stay here. Rajoff might come back."
Her pink hair fluttered before my eyes.
I stopped myself from grabbing her hand and leaned down on the chair.
Is Rajoff the dragon?
Something kept ticking inside me.
I looked up at the empty room. A realization dawned on me.
She got suspicious and escaped?
I stood up. An eye appeared on my palm and she appeared running in a back alley. A flash of light engulfed the kitchen. When the light disappeared the pink haired girl was nowhere in sight inside the back alley.
I sighed and turned to look at her running figure that had just went past me.
A small rock appeared and tripped her.
She fell down with a thump and her hair fluttered behind her as she fell.
"Why did you run?"
She immediately scrambled up and continued to run.
Do I have a specific magic for this? Oh right.
Immediately her steps became heavier and she fell to her knees. Despite the girl still tried to crawl.
Her desperation was surprising. It kind of reminded me of Yun.
I walked towards her and kneeled, "You don't need to be wary. I am just curious that's all."
She looked at me unconvinced, "Where's Yun?"
I stared into her eyes.
"So you thought I wasn't Yun."
Her eyes twitched.
"Answer me, how do you know Yun?"
"You answer first."
Oh, I forgot she asked that.
"She's safe and sound."
Her hand clenched the dirt on the ground and she tried to stand up leaning against the wall.
"Where is she?"
...
"How about this, I'll answer you after you answer 3 of my questions?"
She stared at me with a conflicted look. Before she could answer I spoke first, "How do you know Yun?"
She hesitated before speaking, "She crashed down into my world and we met during a slave auction when she almost got sold off. She got kidnapped with me when the people the operation I was seeing through was obstructed by... a rival."
Oh?
"She saved me and we escaped. When she went back to space, I went with her. She did tell me it was dangerous though, but I wanted to go and Rajoff came with me."
I sat on that information for a while. "Okay then, where's your dragon?"
"I don't know."
I looked into her eyes. It was hard to tell if she was lying with the white irises and the poker face, but yeah she wasn't lying.
"In that case, that question won't count since your refused to answer."
"What?"
I shrugged, "If you think that's unfair and then answer better."
"That's not fair."
As long as I'm getting another answer, I don't care. "Why are you two here?"
I watched as her eyes twitched for a moment and she looked away. A sigh escaped her and her reluctant face calmed down, "This is Yun's original world."
The soft voice continued, "She wanted to come."
"W-why?"
She looked at me surprised at my weird voice.
I was about to speak more when a sense of dread swept over me.
There was no time to distinguish what was wrong, I immediately travelled as far as possible. I fell to the ground and crashed.
My head...
***
I dreamt that a rabbit was stroking my head. Then everything went red. The rabbit, its hand or the foreleg it was using to stroke my head, and then my face.
There was a ringing pain in my head just like when I'd wake up everyday at the hospital. What was that splitting pain?
'System?'
No voice answered.
I took a look at my surrounding.
I was lying inside a large crater. The part of the sky visible from here was red and a glowing door stood a few steps from me.
A horrible feeling dawned when I felt around my consciousness and realised it was drained.
'System!'
I wished it would speak and annoy me for the first time.
A soft headache began to form in my head, growing intense each second.
I'd never had the chance to think about it before. But the curse I got in the first floor might've been madness. And yes, insight gave half a nod. Maybe there was something else I was forgetting, but it was just a matter of figuring it out.
A laugh bubbled up inside me and I had to taunt the white figure by letting it out. She was watching from somewhere.
The white figure or whomever she was, she ended up taking back the system! All because she didn't want me to know something about myself?
I was scared of her, but it was exhilarating when she was forced to act.
I checked to see if I got the boss's ability this time. No?
That's okay.
My head was hurting. But if the root of the headache is a curse then won't I be able to fix it with the opposing ability? I think I had an ability like that.
Yes indeed, blessing.
Curse and blessing should be the fragments of white figure's ability right? Figuring out how to utilize them completely now is a good idea. Among the other base abilities I got inside the cave fighting with the plants, those were the only two without a boss to learn from.
