Fine. Since Eli was clearly in a bad mood, Connor decided he should try to appease him first. There was no point provoking him further when he was already so irritable, especially since Connor had no intention of retaliating against him.
With no other choice, Connor finally put Eli down. However, he was still worried that Eli might suddenly turn around and run back into the sea, so he immediately caught hold of his wrist and held on tightly.
Eli grew even more suspicious. "What are you doing now?"
Connor hesitated, apparently unwilling to explain himself. "Come on. Let's go. Do you seriously think we'd sell you out here at the clubhouse?"
"It's not as though something similar has never happened before," Eli replied without hesitation.
Dominic glanced at Connor. "You're being too rough with him."
"You're talking nonsense," Connor retorted.
