Eli had just come out from washing the dishes and saw Roman Vale sitting unmoving on the sofa reading a book.
He discovered that the other boy actually quite liked reading books. Those on the general theory of currency or strategists — things that were obscure and difficult to understand for most people, but he read them with great interest.
"Baby."
Roman Vale called out to him, pleasantly surprised and immediately threw aside whatever in his hands that he was using to pass the time. Sex was more important, the hell with reading.
Eli silently withdrew his earlier evaluation and walked over to ask, "Did the doctor prescribe any medicine for you?"
It was nothing more than some anti-inflammatory drugs and vitamins. Roman Vale felt that it didn't matter whether he took them or not so he threw them aside when he came home. Where did he put them? He thought about it, then pointed at the shoe cabinet. "Yes, I put them there."
Eli: "You put the medicine in the shoe cabinet?!"
