The next day came around as the bus slowly pulled in to the front of the gate. Students walked off, some even running straight into Heldor's Tower, the legendary tower that had existed since ancient times.
A look at the tower gave all of the people that had the privelage of gazing upon it a spectacle. It was thousands of feet tall, and easily eclipsed the clouds that formed around its top in the sky. Swords stuck out of the ground in front of it, an unintentional decoration that somewhat foreshadowed every challengers fate.
Barghest floated off the bus as many other families passed her. They avoided her out of fear due to her name, and if Barghest wanted to be the first or last one to do anything it would be her ten times out of ten.
Her status allowed it.
She hovered over the ground and rubbed her face, trying to see with all the mist that surrounded the area.
*Unlike everyone else, Matsumi jumped out of the bus and immediatly wrapped his arm around Barghest. He had his skates on but with the wheels concealed for now to allow him to walk.
"Finally! That bus ride was too long!"
"We're probably going to be tortured here. This could be worse than any world war I have participated in because of my lack of power."
She face palmed and nearly curled into a ball in the air for a few seconds.
"Huh, really? You've been in world wars?"
"I was in all of them besides the most recent. The people of humanity have dubbed the one of fifteen years ago The Last Rodeo. Thousands of years ago I had a friend named Ymir. They weren't much of a fighter like you and I could interact with them because my being transcended this plane of existence. That was until The fifth world war..where I was sealed by some Zenin girl. Around that time thats when my power was completely depleted. Vermelha found me ten years later and adopted me as her familiar."
"Zenin, huh? That sounds familiar...But what happened to that Ymir girl? Did you ever see her again?"
"She's on a higher plane of existence. Only the gods and a handful or mortals can interact with her. Ashi, the king you met can interact with her. Same with the woman that your teacher spoke of back in the classroom. I can't see her in my current form. It's not possible unless she comes down to earth…she would never after they attempted to take her vessel years ago."
"You make it sounds like all the people from your age are a bunch of jerks."
"It was a different world. Beings fought for their sections of the world and getting conquered was something that was possible at any time. Nowadays it's more civil. People are nicer, you're right."
"Well, since you know all about war and stuff, you can tell me what happens when we go in the Tower! But...I wonder where Blondie is, I for sure thought he would wanna be here. Oh, well."
"I never scaled Heldor's Tower. It used to be something else but a human revamped it long ago to be what it is now. It's far different from the original. So, anything could happen."
"Still, maybe you recognize some things. Let's go already! People are ahead of us!"
Barghest hesitated but flew through the gate waiting for matsumi to follow. Matsumi followed right behind, moving past some kids that would still be doubting their ability to enter.
