Matsumi gave one last glance to Desmunê.
"I'll be back for all of your spells, geezer!"
He hurriedly left, couldn't help to use the flash step once or twice in his way out.
He only left for a few moments before coming right back. He was too excited to just go off and rest after his experience with magic. He wasn't tired enough yet.
"Hey!"
He was still willing to keep on practicing for however long he had, not because he felt responsible for anything, even though he should. But simply because it was a blast for him.
The construction workers were fixing everything as Barghest and Desmunê were having a talk. She looked up at when hearing Matsumi's voice.
she "Wow..what a quick nap…Im quite sure you're reinvigorated by now."
"Pfft, forget that! I'm way too pumped up right now!"
"Hmph. Then I suppose you're ready to learn more."
"Yeah, and then I'll make a super awesome move for myself!"
"Alright. What are you thinking for that move?"
"I don't know yet! But that's what I'm here to figure out."
"Well you need some kind of attack. Some go to move where you can dominate the field even if you're inherently disadvantaged due to a strength difference or a knowledge difference."
"Like a move that is so great that it leaves them too stunned to move! Something like that."
"They'd have no choice but to admire my awesomeness."
"There's a comic I saw one of the students holding. A superhero that ends all his fights in one punch. Since you're using the flash step..what about a flash punch?"
"Hmm, nah. Has to be something better…"
He started tapping his forehead as the gears started to turn inside his head.
"Okay like what? What's better than that? Enlighten me."
"I got it!"
He reached into his jacket to pull out the grimoire, letting it float in the air.
"I want a group of people that'll cheer when I do something awesome!"
"Then whoever I'm fighting won't have a choice but to watch as I make the best trick ever!"
It was a completely stupid idea for a spell.
"Are you retarded? What kind of stupid spell is that! People will cheer for you if you're a good warrior anyways..why waste your time learning a spell of that kind right now!"
Barghest was clearly upset with his idiocy. She visually pouted and had a red face out of anger.
"Because it's awesome! Why else would you do a spell? Flash step is cool, and so is this one!"
"Matsumi. While I understand your point about being cool you need to consider something greater than being cool and thats being alive. A spell like that is possible…but it won't benefit you in any capacity."
He sat with his hand on his chin, pausing for a few seconds before speaking again.
"…How about combining both of your ideas?"
Barghest looked toward Desmuně with a sudden interest.
"What do you mean?"
"Magic is not linear. It's a form of conceptual ideas that uses the very life force that we feed on day in and day out…as you know because of this things that are not normally possible become plausible."
Desmuně stood up and walked toward Matsumi.
"The flash step is great..however, you've only learned mark I. You've yet to learn Flash Step II and Flash step III. How about developing a spell with a conditional. Every time you land the flash punch you get an applause..and the applause boosts your strength. You get another hit and theres a larger applause and you get an even bigger boost. The more you hit the attack the larger the crowd noise. Something silly yet it can be deadly the more you land your attacks. Then the punch can still be something you use without the conditional spell..and you can develop Mark 2 and 3 versions of that same punch."
Matsumi's eyes would light up like stars.
"Yeah! I want that! That's way better than just a stupid punch! But…I got no clue how to throw a punch!"
"He's hopeless Desmuně. No way he'll learn the flash punch in the next sixteen hours. The bus leaves for Heldor's Tower by then."
Matsumi was throwing some seriously pathetic looking punches at the air, he had no interest in them before and barely any now. Only reason he's trying is because the new idea sounded good in his head.
"This isn't going to work. We're going to have to just see where the flash step takes us."
"All the way to the top, that's where! I got flash step and you have your Barghest things!"
"No chance…but Vermelha is in trouble as we speak. We have no time to banter. If we want to save her then we need to hurry up. That blue haired man said he caught her."
"I know, I remember. We'll beat Heldor's Tower for both of them, Heiwa and Vermelha."
Matsumi rarely ever was serious about something, having a good time was much better to him. However, that look of determination he gave Barghest back when he escaped was still there, he wasn't just spouting confidence for the hell of it, he meant it.
"Yeah Yeah…Desmuně we'll be back soon. Until then…"
Barghest gave him a wave as she went back to Matsumi. The look on his face gave her a large sense of trust and faith despite the fact that he was inexperienced.
"We'll see you!"
