Chapter 44 - Dark zone pt.2

"Argh!" It's fine.

"He's flatlining!" Your ok.

"How many times is that?!" Just keep going.

"How does he keep coming back?!" Focus.

"Ma'am we can't keep doing this!" Bang! My body jumpstarts in time to the gunshot. To the doctors credit it just missed the surgeons head by a millimetre. But even still it gets the message across. This is an operating room. They will operate on me or face the consequences. If it wasn't for this energy inside of me I would be dead. My hearts stopped seven times, my chest cut open and healed over four and even more of those chemicals have been injected into me at least a dozen with the time between getting shorter. I'm literally watching a group of strangers try to dissect my unconscious body from the sidelines. This might be the first time I actually know what's going on with one of these trippy soul sequences. Bernet is looking right at me, her eyes barley giving my body a second thought. That smug smile still there even with her surgeons throwing slurs with each setback, which there are a lot of. I'm half tempted to try ranking her but then I feel that pain in my chest again. Ok this is getting way too morbid, I need to move. So with that I just walk out the nearest wall. I genuinely didn't know if this would work, I just had to hope I'd be able to do this ghost thing when they started experimenting. I mean if I can control souls when I'm that big monster it's not completely out of the question. And it worked so whatever.

"Whoa." Is all I have to say. It's one thing to sense all of this, it's another to see it. Hundreds of metal cubes being moved along rails, slotted into holes in the walls. How many experiments do they do here? How many lives do they need to destroy?! And for what?! Because we were born like this?! It's ok it fine it's ok it's fine it's not like they're doing horrific experiments on people and wanted to do it to Lilith! Just keep going. Where would they… ah there it is! I fly over the facility, doing my best not to look at the horrible stuff they are doing. Or the fact that I can fly apparently. Well not like I couldn't always fly as Kaiju boy but this is different. I whirl through miles and miles of steel and iron, ignoring the continued pain in my chest as my body gets dissected again. Eventually though I reach the massive vault that they are keeping my wand inside of. What is it with people and vaults? I don't think a vault has ever stopped a single person ever. Or at least they've never stopped me. I can just walk through the door like it's not even there. "Damn it!" Another massive bout of pain in my chest. Are they trying to harvest my nerves?! Why would they even do that?! HOW would they even do that?! I crawl my way through the rest of the thick metal door, I'll admit this one was a bit trickier. Because my body is being torn open, not because of the door. Heh, jokes are the only thing keeping me going. Why can my soul feel pain?! "Louhi why would you not mention this?!" I scream into the void when I finally make it to the other side. And of course it doesn't have lights, why would it? That would be stupid for a super secret government lab. But I don't exactly need lights, because I can hear them. All of them. Million's of roars from Kaiju I'm connected to on a level a door could never stop. They are all clawing to get out, to go wild, to destroy. "I know." I reassure them. "I'm sorry I worried you. But I'm probably going to worry you even more in a second." I can't believe I'm actually doing this. I can feel the surgeons getting closer to whatever it is they're looking for, at least with how faint my connection to my original body is. But that's the thing isn't it, my body isn't what actually generates all that power, or at least it doesn't have to be. So if I can take that power out of my human body, maybe that will stop Louhis ritual. But that power still needs to go somewhere physical, otherwise I can't trust that she won't be able to get it back. So here we are. If this works I can't go back to my old life, but that's fine isn't it? I've burned all those bridges, there's nothing to go back to. Losing a normal life to save the planet is just simple math. So I pull on both ends. I pull at the power in my body and the kaiju in my wand. In a flash of light that would put the sun to shame, pink fire races to my location, passing harmlessly through every obstacle. In that instant dorctor Bernet and half a dozen others around the world realise what I'm doing. Torrents of biological matter rave from the wand at the same time my body does. It encompasses and compresses my soul on top of the wand before encasing me in the flesh suit. The connection grows strong enough that I can already feel that we're one and the same, though it definitely feels like piloting something compared to moving your own body. A torso and neck made of rolling pink tentacles. Legs like a deer with the hooves to match. A cape of white feathers flowing down my back. A furry claw to the left and a scaled one to the right. My head is just a collection of fungi that could maybe pass as some sort of dragon skull, with a single blue horn pushing out. The vault door is smashed through by the enraged doctor. And in a confirmation that I succeeded someone bursts through the roof.
