"Ugh~… Master~…"

Milotic and Rapidash hugged each other, murmuring softly in their sleep.

Charizard clung tightly to Ace's thigh, a satisfied smile on her face.

Yellow and Delia were already fast asleep, their bodies glowing with a charming rosy hue.

"Rest well~"

Ace kissed the lips of the girls, recalled the three Pokémon, and leisurely walked out of the room.

Arriving in the living room, he patted Ash's cheek.

"Ash, wake up!"

"Hmm…" Ash frowned as he slowly opened his drowsy eyes. "How did I… suddenly fall asleep?"

As his consciousness returned, Ash felt that something was off, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

"Eh? Ace, why are you at my house?" Ash asked.

"It's almost time for the closing ceremony. Professor Oak saw you weren't there, so he asked me to come get you."

Ace pointed to the clock on the wall—it was already close to nine.

"Ah! I'm doomed, I almost overslept! Let's go quickly!"

Ash hastily put on his shoes and rushed out without even washing his face.

"Mom is really something. She must have slept in today and forgot to wake me up."

Ace's lips curved into a faint smile as he listened to Ash's complaints.

How could you understand your mother's hard work…

When the two arrived at the research institute, the closing ceremony was already set up.

"Ace! (Brother Ace!)"

Seeing Ace arrive, Serena and Chloe, along with Red and the others, all greeted him.

"Morning~" Ace replied with a smile.

Soon, the ceremony officially began.

Professor Oak first gave everyone a detailed summary, reminding the campers of what to pay attention to in their future journeys, then moved on to the awards segment.

"The members of the first-place partner team in this summer camp are: Ace, Chloe, and Serena! As a reward, each of them will receive the latest Pokédex and a half-year supply of premium Pokémon food!"

Professor Oak stepped onto the stage holding three Pokédexes in different colors.

"These latest-model Pokédexes have data entry and analysis functions. They can, to a certain extent, analyze a Pokémon's mastered skills and individual differences, helping Trainers customize training plans."

"Thank you, Professor." The three accepted their rewards.

Compared to Chloe and Serena's visible happiness, Ace felt little excitement.

For others, this item might be extremely valuable, but for him, it was merely an ID and a pass.

The second- and third-place teams received more conventional rewards—berries and Pokémon food—which were still excellent travel supplies for beginners.

"So, children, this summer camp concludes here. I hope you all walk far on your respective paths and never waste your time!"

"Everyone, look at me!" Nanami ran over with a camera.

Everyone turned toward her voice.

"Click…"

The moment was frozen in time.

"This is so strange… What exactly is wrong with me?"

Goh nervously tugged at the corner of his clothes, slowly moving away from the crowd.

Recently, he had been unconsciously making some effeminate gestures, which filled him with both disgust and helplessness.

He glanced back at Ace in the crowd—and at Chloe, smiling brightly beside him—and silently gritted his teeth.

He had never really thought much about his childhood friend Chloe before, but seeing her suddenly so close to another boy made him feel inexplicably uncomfortable.

"Hmph, just you wait. I'll catch all the Pokémon and then completely surpass you."

Goh made a secret vow.

But right after saying it, he felt something was wrong again.

"Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey—what do you mean 'I'? I am me!" He stomped his foot in frustration and was the first to board the departing bus.

This was a special bus Professor Oak had arranged to take the campers to their respective transportation points.

Serena clasped her hands to her chest.

Only when she saw the bus did she realize that the seven days had truly come to an end—and that it was time to say goodbye to the young man she admired.

"Ace…"

She turned toward him, her crystal-blue eyes shimmering.

"You're leaving, Serena." Ace said with a gentle smile, a trace of reluctance in his expression.

"Will you come to Kalos to travel?"

"Or… why don't you stay and travel with me?"

They asked their questions at the same time.

"Pfft…"

They both laughed softly, then spoke in unison again.

"I will go."

"Alright~"

They smiled at each other in silence.

She knew he was about to set off.

And he knew she wasn't ready to travel just yet.

Perhaps, when their feelings had grown this deep, they had already begun thinking from each other's perspectives.

"Once you convince your mother, I'll come find you in Kalos."

"Mm!" Serena nodded, the affection in her eyes slowly blurring.

She walked toward him step by step, then suddenly leapt into Ace's arms and boldly pressed her cherry lips against his, right in front of everyone.

Their breaths intertwined, and in that moment, the hearts of the boy and girl were tightly bound together.

"Hey, sis, aren't you jealous?" Gary nudged Nanami with his elbow.

Nanami glanced at him and smiled sweetly. "I want to be, but I don't have the energy~"

She had long been deeply marked by Ace, and now her infatuation ran even deeper.

As for anything else, she had no interest in thinking about it.

"In a couple of days, maybe I should also set out on a journey…"

A trace of sadness flashed through her eyes before quickly disappearing.

The more mature her disliked dramatic farewells—keeping each other in their hearts felt far more real.

After a long while, Ace released Serena, then leaned down and kissed her reddened lips once more.

"Wait for me."

"Okay~" Serena nodded and handed Ace a small package. "Here, a gift you'll like. Call me often. I… I'll miss you."

Her voice trembled slightly at the end, and she quickly turned and ran toward the bus.

Ace watched her leave, his heart feeling unexpectedly heavy.

"Brother Ace, I'm leaving too…" Chloe walked over, her eyes red. "Remember to visit me when you get to Vermilion City."

"…"

Ace ruffled her cherry-colored hair, then leaned down and kissed her forehead.

"Focus on finishing your studies. When you graduate, I'll take you on a journey with me."

"Mm!" Chloe stood on tiptoe and kissed Ace as well. Urged by the driver, she boarded the bus, looking back again and again.

"By the way, aren't you planning to find a pretty girl?" Green glanced at Red.

"Huh? What can girls do?" Red replied blankly. "Wash my clothes and cook for me?"

Green froze, then after a long pause sighed.

"You… you really are a blockhead…"
