Chapter 247 - Archangel

One is a soulless being born from the primordial rage of the Blood Angels, possessing many abilities of Warp creatures.

The other is a peerless mighty man who has integrated the essence of the Black Rage and become the jailer of this power, reputed to be cultivating immortality in the Warhammer Universe, both sides possess immense power beyond the imagination of mortals.

To weaker civilizations, they are already gods and demons of legend, both sides flew using their wings, battling in the sky, a scene akin to what mythical stories describe.

As the two collided, the unleashed power shook the firmament.

Cracks appeared in the sky, from which the brilliant light of the Warp surged forth, making the entire sky transform.

Mephiston's eyes glowed with black and red light.

His armor emitted a rich crimson glow, making his entire being appear eerily demonic.

A pair of pure black wings on his back also shimmered with a blood-red light.

If anyone from the Inquisition were here, they would likely shout at Mephiston.

"heretic, this is a heretic."

"Immediately call the Grey Knights to suppress this heretic."

Meanwhile, the Red Angel on the other side was also continuously enhancing his power.

After the Great Rift appeared, the Aether content in the material Universe increased.

This allowed soulless beings to operate more frequently and wield greater power in the material Universe.

Many things that were once impossible were now easily accomplished, before the battle, the Red Angel's confidence had soared.

He believed that with his current power, he could easily crush the beings of the material Universe and torment the Corpse Emperor's minions to death, but after truly engaging in combat, he discovered one thing: he couldn't seem to defeat the human in front of him.

In the sky, psychic light surged, and dazzling lightning flashed continuously.

Two figures crisscrossed, sometimes entangled, sometimes separated, engaging in multiple fierce clashes.

Terrifying aftershocks stirred up strong winds, sweeping in all directions.

With a rumble.

Mephiston waved his hand, unleashing a crimson bolt of lightning.

In an instant, the lightning streaked across the firmament and struck the Red Angel.

A piercing scream rang out.The Red Angel was struck by lightning and sent flying, crashing to the ground.

With a thud, a large crater appeared on the ground, with spiderweb-like cracks spreading outwards from the center of the deep pit.

John Warhammer watched this scene, shaking his head in disappointment, "Is that all? What a weakling."

The one who declares war when not being a dog and other Players nodded, agreeing with the statement.

"Soulless beings nowadays are getting worse and worse."

"This Red Angel is the worst I've ever seen."

The Red Angel, who had just climbed out of the pit: ".., .., .., ..."

Are you guys not ashamed to humiliate me like this?

The Red Angel roared to the sky.

He frantically continued to devour the Warp's energy, his body visibly growing larger, and the psychic power surging around him also became stronger.

As his power increased, the Red Angel became even more tyrannical.

He wanted to prove with his strength that he was not a weakling.

He was the Red Angel who instilled fear and dread in countless civilizations.

Mephiston swooped down like a hunting hawk.

He swung his lightning-covered scepter downwards.

A fierce whooshing sound filled the air.

After completing the Primaris transformation and gaining the power of the Black Angels.

Mephiston could no longer be classified as a mortal.

Now, Mephiston, like Handsome guy, could punch demons and kick soulless beings.

The Red Angel, still absorbing power, was caught off guard and was once again knocked down by Mephiston's scepter.

Then, Mephiston pressed his advantage, continuously smashing the fallen Red Angel with his scepter.

Each blow was heavy and powerful, creating loud whooshing sounds, bang! Bang! Bang!

The Red Angel lay on the ground, wailing incessantly, Mephiston beat him until his bones were broken and his tendons snapped, leaving hardly any good flesh on his entire body.

Such a scene was utterly brutal.

So much so that John Warhammer and other Players felt a little unbearable.

The one who declares war when not being a dog even shouted.

"For my sake, hit that bastard's mouth first, His screams are too miserable; it's unbearable to listen to."

Other Players also nodded in agreement.

"I suggest using magic."

"Does anyone know transformation magic to change this guy's screams into excited ones?"

".., .., .., ..."

The Red Angel: ".., .., .., ..."

It's truly my good fortune to meet you living devils!!

I'm being beaten so badly; can't I even scream a few times?

Even if I'm a soulless being, don't I have human rights?

You only care about pleasing the Corpse Emperor; have you ever thought about me, this poor soulless being?

Mephiston was already accustomed to the Saints' absurdities and was unaffected.

Instead, he actually began to chant a spell, using ancient power to transform the Red Angel's miserable screams into excited shrieks.

"As expected of the Angel's offspring, his thoughtfulness is truly beyond words."

"Love you, Mephiston."

"Smash that idiot demon!!"

".., .., .., ..."

The Players became even more excited, cheering non-stop.

The Red Angel roared in anger; he felt humiliated.

Had he been reduced to a small game for these guys to bond over??

Damn it, I'm a demon with world-destroying power, after all.

Can't you show some respect for a powerful being?

"You all deserve to die."

The Red Angel roared incessantly, letting out continuous angry shouts, and his body became even more exaggerated.

The psychic power swirling around him was almost tangible, but in the face of Mephiston's absolute power, the Red Angel's anger was useless.

This poor soulless being was repeatedly sent flying and crashing to the ground, creating deep craters.

Finally, Mephiston even brutally smashed his head, sending his headless body plummeting to the ground.

With a thud, it was completely still.

The Players walked forward and found that this demon had been completely banished back to the Warp by Mephiston.

This fierce battle ended here.

The Players were still unsatisfied.

The battle between Mephiston and the Red Angel was too spectacular.

"The video we shot, once released, will definitely be very popular."

"warhammer 40K version of cultivator battles."

".., .., .., ..."

Mephiston landed, breathing heavily.

This great battle had also taken a significant toll on him.

At this moment, the black and red glow slowly faded, returning to its original appearance.

The black wings on his back also gradually turned into phantoms, eventually disappearing without a trace.

Seeing their worshipped demon defeated. The Cultists hiding in the ruins no longer dared to show their faces, retreating deeper inside.

Mephiston and the others did not pursue them.

They were here to find the Archangel's soul fragments, not to fight those monsters.

After the Red Angel was defeated.

Certain things that had been suppressed were released, creating a resonance.

The Blood Angels felt a tremor. The most fundamental essence in their bloodline had been touched.

"The Archangel is here." Mephiston said, looking around the dilapidated ruins, which were covered in traces of his battle with the Red Angel.

"I feel it too." the accompanying Blood Angels Librarian also nodded.

"But there's nothing here?" another accompanying Blood Angel asked, looking at the broken, overgrown ruins, somewhat skeptical.

"This bloodline resonance cannot be faked, There might be some clues nearby." Mephiston said.

As soon as he finished speaking, one of the accompanying Saints shouted.

"There's a tunnel entrance here."

Mephiston and the others walked over and discovered a deep, dark tunnel.

Standing before the tunnel, the tremor from their bloodline became even clearer.

"A secret we want to know might be hidden here."

"We should go inside and see."

They stepped inside.

The tunnel beneath the ruins was very peculiar, like a beehive, full of narrow passages and cavernous cracks.

It was very dark inside, with no light source, but Mephiston and the Players could use night vision devices to offset the inconvenience of the darkness.

They moved quickly.

There were some distorted monsters moving within the caverns of the tunnel, but none of them were a match for Mephiston and the others.

With the roar of bolters, these monsters were successively struck down, turning into scattered pieces of shattered corpses.

After a few minutes of advancement, the entire tunnel suddenly opened up.

An uneven formation of stalactites formed the final barrier.

After passing through the barrier, they entered another space.

The entire space was vast, stretching as far as the eye could see.

The immense space and vaulted structure resembled a buried cathedral.

"There are bodies here." The one who declares war when not being a dog said.

Other Players walked over and found several charred bodies kneeling before him.

Remaining objects indicated that these bodies were Cultists who worshipped the Red Angel, but no one knew why they were kneeling here or why they were burned like this.

"What burned these guys was fire condensed from pure rage."

Mephiston, being well-traveled, immediately recognized the issue with these bodies.

"Did the Red Angel do it?" a Player asked.

"No." Mephiston shook his head, "I didn't feel any evil power remaining on these bodies; instead, there was a sacred aura, pure and unblemished."

"Does that mean there's a being with pure fire here? Could it be the heroic spirits left here from the Battle of Signus?"

The one who declares war when not being a dog speculated.

"Very likely, The Battle of Signus was quite tragic; many famous Blood Angels from the Great Crusade era died here." John Warhammer said.

Just as everyone was discussing the abnormalities of the bodies and the history of the Battle of Signus.

A soft footsteps came from the depths of the darkness.

John Warhammer was the closest.

He noticed the anomaly immediately.

He turned his head and instantly saw a phantom enveloped in light.

The phantom, hollowly releasing a wizard-like radiance, burned with cold flames.

He was taller than everyone else, with a pair of wings made of light on his back, and his eyes were filled with weariness and sorrow.

Mephiston and the others, hearing the commotion, also turned their heads to look at the phantom.

With just a glance, their eyes widened in unison.

"Sanguinius?"

"Father?"

The phantom looked at everyone, and flames burned in his eyes.

He spoke, his voice deep and filled with rage.

"Horus, why, why did you betray Terra??"

As his voice fell, a long spear made of radiance appeared in his hand.

Immediately after, he charged towards the Blood Angels and the Players.

"No!" Mephiston shouted, "We are your descendants, Primarch, we are not Horus."

However, Sanguinius' phantom showed no hesitation.

He launched an attack on Mephiston and the others.

Every strike was fatal.

The Players finally understood how those charred corpses came to be.

They must have stumbled in here and been burned to such a state by Sanguinius' wrath.

Mephiston parried his father's attacks.

Clang~

The light spear struck Mephiston's staff, emitting a clangorous sound.

Sanguinius' combat power was despairingly strong.

Even if it was just a soul fragment, Mephiston felt somewhat strained.

Moreover, Mephiston could not possibly truly harm his genetic father.

After blocking another of the opponent's attacks, he shouted to the other Librarians.

"First, use a magic circle to trap him."

Several Librarians spread out, releasing their power, connecting it together, and finally converging it onto Mephiston.

"Bind!"

Mephiston shouted loudly.

A complex and profound runic magic circle appeared beneath Sanguinius' feet.

The runes intertwined, forming sturdy chains that bound Sanguinius tightly.

Sanguinius moved abruptly, breaking several chains, but the next second, more chains appeared, once again wrapping him tightly.

However, Sanguinius was not one to yield so easily.

He roared and struggled continuously, causing the runic chains on his body to constantly break.

"We can't hold on for much longer." A Librarian shouted, "The Primarch's power is too strong."

"We need to find a way to awaken the Primarch." Another struggling Librarian said.

"Currently, there is only one way." Mephiston said, "That is to sacrifice a Blood Angel descendant, using his blood to quell the Primarch's wrath and awaken his reason."

As his voice fell, everyone turned to look at John Warhammer.

"Why are you all looking at me?"

John Warhammer's heart skipped a beat, and he felt a sense of unease.

"We need to sacrifice a Blood Angel descendant." The one who declares war when not being a dog said, "You are the most suitable."

John Warhammer was about to retort, but looking around, it really seemed like he was the most suitable.

After all, Mephiston and the other NPCs only had one life, but he could revive infinitely.

"Alright, alright, I'm coming." John Warhammer said, "Having to die for a quest, I'm truly impressed."

Mephiston and the other Blood Angels silently nodded in their hearts.

The benefits of bringing Saints were now evident.

If any sacrifice was needed, just let them do it.

However, they still needed to give some incentives.

"As long as you can awaken the Primarch and quell his wrath, this staff will belong to you, Saints John Warhammer."

Mephiston's words immediately made the other Players reveal envious expressions.

This was Mephiston's staff!

And it was being given as a reward to this guy, just like that?

Envy, jealousy, and hatred!!

"What staff or no staff, I'm not that kind of person, I just want to contribute to the return of the Angel Father."

John Warhammer's eyes became incredibly clear and firm at this moment.

After speaking, he looked at Mephiston again.

"Take good care of my staff, I'll come back for it."

Mephiston: "..."

He had felt a little touched, but now, he was taking that bit of emotion back.

John Warhammer rushed towards Sanguinius, who was bound by the magic circle.

Sanguinius' eyes narrowed slightly, revealing a cold killing intent.

The Primarch's movements were extremely fast; in just a blink of an eye, the spear in his hand pierced through John Warhammer, who had charged forward.

Even with the Primaris upgrade, these movements were imperceptible.

"So fast."

John Warhammer looked down at the spear piercing him, marveling at the Primarch's speed.

A trace of pain appeared on Sanguinius' face.

The act of slaughtering his descendant made the confused soul show a struggling expression.

The next second, John Warhammer decisively plunged his dagger into his own neck.

Crimson blood splattered out, falling onto Sanguinius' phantom.

The blood caused the rage in the Primarch's bright eyes to recede, and the light of reason returned.

Sanguinius looked at the son of Blood Angels lying before him, revealing a hint of sadness.

Another descendant had died because of him.

"The Primarch has recovered."

The Players swarmed forward, dragging away the fallen John Warhammer.

They threw the corpse aside, their movements very rough.

It was clear that if Mephiston and the other Blood Angels weren't present, they would have loved to stomp on him a couple of times.

This guy actually got Mephiston's exclusive weapon; jealousy made their faces contorted with rage!!

"Don't be like that." Sanguinius spoke, his voice filled with weariness.

"Don't worry, Father, He is a Saints, and will soon return from death."

"......"

Mephiston stepped forward and explained the identity of the Saints in detail to the Primarch.

This surprised Sanguinius.

When had his father's power become so strong that he could create Saints who could revive infinitely?

After the final battle of Vengeful Spirit, Sanguinius' soul was completely shattered.

The fragments scattered throughout the galaxy.

These fragments could sense each other's existence, but their memories were not connected.

The fragment wandering on Signus still held memories of the Corpse Emperor from before boarding the Vengeful Spirit.

"Let's go, Father, we'll take you home." Mephiston extended his hand, and Sanguinius' phantom burned, finally turning into a golden fragment emitting light.

"As long as we collect enough golden fragments, we can obtain a mythical hero." The one who declares war when not being a dog looked at the golden fragment, feeling that resurrecting Sanguinius was like collecting fragments to exchange for a hero.

The other Players strongly agreed with this.

Clearly, the operators understood how to combine things, stitching in all sorts of excellent gameplay, focusing on a grand hodgepodge.

Having obtained Sanguinius' fragment, the mission for this trip was considered complete.

Mephiston and the others set off to return to the surface, preparing to leave Signus and head to the next location.

However, upon reaching the surface, they saw the sky torn open, and countless demons surged forth like a tide.

Clearly, the Chaos Gods had also detected Mephiston and the others' actions.

After the Great Rift opened, the Chaos Gods' influence on Holy Terra was growing stronger and stronger.

"At all costs, we must protect the Archangel's soul fragment." Mephiston shouted.

"Withdraw to the warship in orbit, we leave immediately." Another Librarian said, "Saints, please buy Terra some time."

"Once the Archangel's soul fragment is safely returned to Baal, you can enter the Blood Angels' relic vault and choose a piece of equipment you like."

Having spent a long time together, the Blood Angels also understood how to make these Saints fight to the death.

As soon as these words were spoken, The one who declares war when not being a dog and the other Players immediately cheered excitedly, ready to fight to the death against the demon tide to protect the Archangel's soul fragment.

However, just as Mephiston and the others were calling the Sword of Baal warship.

Preparing to have Captain Nivia lock onto their coordinates and immediately teleport them back to the warship to leave this place immediately.

Another piece of bad news arrived.

"My lord, the augury shows that over two hundred Chaos warships have suddenly appeared; they have surrounded Terra."

This news made Mephiston's heart sink.

Clearly, the Chaos Gods had come prepared, determined to seize the Archangel's soul fragment.

"Captain Nivia, can you access the beacon communication network?" Mephiston asked.

"The signal is very poor, but I can barely send a message." Nivia replied.

"Immediately send for help to the Saint; only he can support Terra now." Mephiston said.

Mephiston knew that the Saint could respond to the Saints' call and instantly arrive on the battlefield with other Saints across the galaxy.

Now, only by seeking help from the Saint would there be a chance to bring the Archangel's fragment back.

"Understood, my lord." Nivia immediately carried out Mephiston's order.

Mephiston turned to look at the others, "The plan has changed, we must hold our ground on the surface and wait for the Saint's rescue."
