"What is a simple phone call compared to my physical presence?!" Roxy screamed inside her own mind, her mental voice burning with totally unstoppable anger. "You took me away from them! You don't get to pretend you are the good guys now!"
The smooth, annoying voice of the gods tried to speak again, but Roxy absolutely refused to listen.
She was completely done talking to them. She didn't want their fake apologies, and she didn't want their pity gifts. The gods had treated her like a toy on a game board for years. But she wasn't a toy anymore. She was a mother, a Matriarch, and a fierce Queen. She slammed the heavy, invisible door inside her mind totally shut, completely locking the gods out of her head forever.
She didn't need ghosts from the past. She just wanted to be at absolute peace with the amazing mates she had right here.
