He pats the spot next to him on the couch, a mischievous glint in his eye. "And don't even think about trying to hide behind me this time." Sanemi glances at Giyuu suspiciously as he maintains his calm demeanor through the first few scary scenes. "Hey, what's with the cool act? You're supposed to be freaking out by now."He nudges Giyuu with his elbow, trying to get a reaction.
"Are you secretly a horror movie expert or something?" Sanemi crosses his arms, clearly frustrated by Giyuu's composed attitude. "Fine, be that way. But when the real scary stuff starts, don't say I didn't warn you." He reaches for the remote, turning up the volume slightly, hoping to catch Giyuu off guard. The tension builds on screen as Sanemi watches Giyuu carefully, waiting for any sign of distress.
"You know, I'm starting to think you're not human. Normal people aren't this calm during horror movies." He leans back with a dramatic sigh, though he secretly enjoys having Giyuu's company through the scary parts. Sanemi shifts closer, trying to maintain his tough exterior while still enjoying the movie. "Just remember - you promised to protect me if I screamed. No backing out now."
He tries to hide his nervousness behind a confident smirk, but his eyes remain glued to the screen. As the most intense scene approaches, Sanemi unconsciously grabs Giyuu's arm, his fingers digging in slightly. "Okay, maybe I'm a little tense. But that doesn't count as being scared." He mutters defensively, though his grip doesn't loosen as the music grows more ominous. The jumpscare hits, and Sanemi jumps slightly, his face buried in Giyuu's shoulder for a split second before he realizes what he's doing.
"That was... a tactical jump. For dramatic effect," he stammers, quickly pulling away but staying close enough to feel Giyuu's warmth. Sanemi tries to regain his composure, pretending to be fascinated by a random spot on the wall. "Not bad, Giyuu. You actually flinched a little there." He points at the screen with exaggerated nonchalance, though his heart is still racing from the contact. Over the next week, Sanemi finds himself seeking out more excuses to be close to Giyuu during movie nights and casual hangouts.
He pretends to be interested in Giyuu's interests, like cooking and reading, while secretly enjoying the way their lives are naturally intertwining. Mochi has also become an integral part of their routine, often cuddling with both of them on the couch during their evening activities. Sanemi checks his phone, reading messages from his friends about meeting at the bar. "Hey Giyuu, I'm heading out with the guys tonight. Don't wait up."
He grabs his jacket, trying to sound casual despite the slight hesitation in his voice. Sanemi pauses at the door, remembering their recent conversation about exclusivity. "Actually... you could come with me if you want. Might be fun." He shifts uncomfortably, not used to inviting Giyuu to social events. "I mean, unless you've got better things to do than watch me drink beer and listen to my friends argue about sports."
Giyuu looks up from his book while shaking his head. Sanemi shrugs, trying to hide his disappointment. "Suit yourself. I'll probably be back late, so don't freak out if you hear me stumbling around." He opens the door but lingers for a moment, looking back at Giyuu. "There's leftover curry in the fridge if you get hungry. Don't eat it all while I'm gone."
Sanemi steps out, but his mind keeps drifting back to Giyuu as he walks to the bar. He pulls out his phone, sending a quick message to Giyuu: "Text me if you need anything. And don't forget to lock the door." Sanemi spots his friends gathered at their usual table, drinks already in hand. "Sorry I'm late, guys. Had to make sure my roommate wasn't going to burn down the apartment."
Tengen smirks knowingly, raising his glass. "Oh, so Giyuu's still alive? I was starting to think you two were joined at the hip." Sanemi rolls his eyes and takes a seat, ordering a drink. "Shut up, Tengen. He's perfectly capable of taking care of himself." Despite his words, Sanemi keeps checking his phone for messages, something his observant friends notice immediately.
"Someone's checking their phone a lot tonight," Kyojuro teases with a grin. The karaoke machine lights up as Tengen takes the stage, dramatically gesturing for Sanemi to join him. "Come on, Sanemi! Show us those vocal cords! Or are you too distracted thinking about Giyuu?" The rest of the group starts chanting his name, making Sanemi's ears turn red. "I'm not singing! And stop bringing him up!" Tengen refuses to let it go, grabbing Sanemi's arm and dragging him toward the stage.
"Too late! The crowd has spoken! Besides, you always have a great time when you sing." Sanemi reluctantly grabs the microphone, trying to ignore the knowing looks from his friends. "Fine! But if any of you record this, I'm deleting your numbers." Sanemi begins singing, his voice surprisingly good despite his protests. He tries to focus on the music instead of thinking about Giyuu back at their apartment. His friends cheer loudly, especially Tengen who's recording the whole thing on his phone.
"That's our Sanemi! Who knew you had such a beautiful voice? Maybe you should bring Giyuu next time!" Sanemi shoots Tengen a death glare, but his heart skips a beat at the mention of Giyuu. "Keep talking and I'll break that phone. And stop mentioning Giyuu!" He continues singing, trying to hide his embarrassment and growing homesickness. "This is why I don't hang out with you guys. You're all annoying." The song ends to thunderous applause, and Sanemi immediately grabs his drink, downing it in one go.
"I need another drink. And maybe a new set of friends." He heads to the bar, pulling out his phone to check if Giyuu texted. "Stupid Giyuu making me miss him already," he mutters under his breath. Sanemi's phone buzzes with a message from Giyuu: "Mochi misses you. Hurry back." His expression softens instantly, and he can't help but smile at the screen.
"Damn it," he whispers, ordering another drink. "I'm supposed to be having fun, not missing him already." Tengen slides up beside him at the bar, grinning mischievously. "What's with that goofy smile? Did Giyuu finally confess his undying love for you again?" Sanemi quickly schools his features into his usual scowl. "Shut up. It's nothing like that. Just Mochi being annoying as ever."
