Azael soared through the skies still the fastest demon in flight. Below him lay Perfect City, now a graveyard of steel and ash. He hovered above the ruins, eyes scanning the wreckage.
Pity, he thought. Weak mortals. Broken in body and spirit. Cockroaches, all of them. Then he dove.
In seconds, he tore through a building floor by floor, room by room. No survivors. He moved to the next. And the next. A blur of destruction.
Then footsteps. His super-hearing locked in. A man sprinted down the street, terrified. "The entrée," Azael whispered.
He flew, grabbed the man mid-run, and ripped him in half like paper.
The hunt continued. Forty survivors. All massacred.
Then he saw it, a mansion still lit, water still running.
He landed softly. "Light's house." He walked to the grand doors and knocked politely. Albert, Light's loyal servant, opened the door. His face drained of color.
"You may not know me," Azael said, "but I'm a friend of Light's father. Is he home?"Albert stammered. "I—uh—" From inside "Who is it, Albert? We're not taking in refugees!" Azael saw Light in the background and launched forward, shoving Albert aside. Light turned just in time to see a torpedo of fury.
Bang.
Azael grabbed his face and slammed him into the ground with monstrous force."Who are you?" Light gasped. "I am the Prince of Rebellion."
Light's vision blurred. Azael? The one my father warned me about? Bang. Bang. Albert returned, shotgun blazing. Three direct hits. Azael staggered, releasing Light.
"That hurt, you cockroach."
He flew at Albert, who fired one last shot before Azael speared him shattering a wall and leaving Albert broken.
"You vermin," Azael spat.
Then a glow.
Light rose, red and black energy swirling around him."You fool," Azael said. "Without Lucifer's power, you're nothing."
"I don't care who you are," Light growled. "You're going to die."
Azael bowed mockingly. "Please, you degenerate. Your father saw you as a liability, not an heir." Light roared and charged. Azael's uppercut was faster than sight. The impact paralyzed Light and his organs felt like they'd burst.
"That's why Edwin took your destiny," Azael whispered.
Then he hurled Light to the ground and stomped his chest bones cracking, heart faltering
