The small squad continued upward through the illuminated third and fourth floors, and they hadn't encountered another one of the nearly invisible infected yet, giving some weight to their earlier theory.
"The zombies ran outside yesterday," Adrian looked around at the fourth floor, "Seems only that special zombie thing remains here."
"Put your goggles on. It's dark upstairs," Dmitri reminded him as he switched his night vision on.
"Right at your back." Adrian chuckled, equipping his own goggles as well.
Hans stayed quiet through their banter, but the possibility of another special infected somewhere above them still worried him.
A zombie that can turn invisible through distortion, huh?
He thought about what this kind of zombie could do to regular Army Soldiers and Conscripts clearing a dark building. Without a dog or some warning beforehand, a squad might not even know what attacked them until somebody was already hurt.
